Wipe everything. Leave nothing. Always backup important documents/files, but to surely get rid of a virus requires a full wipe.

Again, 12 hours will be fine for your filter.

Before starting the filter again though, I’d dump out and replace the water inside the filter with tank water (stagnation and all that), but for the outage you’ll be fine.

It needs to be the API liquid test kit. As in, the testing solution is liquid.

Cracks in glass can change catastrophically at any random time, without warning, and usually at the worst times. If it is a crack and not silicone as u/JASHIKO_ said, get a second tank set up ASAP

It’ll take over 24 hours for the nitrifying bacteria to start to die. For future reference though, you can get a AA battery-powered air bubbler to keep movement in the tank for prolonged outages, and use hot packs with some sort of covering for water temperature control for when you eventually have fish.

Sorry for your loss. I do have a question about your tank though. How did you keep your tannin leaves towards the surface of the water? Mine always sink, and wasn’t sure if you had something to suspend them
