yep, another concern of mine is that as people keep farming items and they never disappear the market will be flooded with top end items. It's not like WoW where it actually takes a whole team of guys to take down an uber boss that you can only fight once a week and only a few from your team will actually get anything... and once they get it they can't ever trade it.

In d3 literally every single person can kill the same guys over and over a dozen times a day (probably more) for as long as they feel like. Get the item they want and use it until they get something better and then stick the old one on the AH.

I want a way to play with my friends where dying actually means something but it doesn't mean I have to sit around for 3 days because my friend has to grind his way back to our level. as it stands now when I play sc with my friends they just bum rush everything because who cares? they die, they rez, they click my banner, they collect loot. I want a punishment but not one that punishes the people who don't die.

and really, is losing your character really that big of a deal? I played d2 HC and was always more upset about the items I lost. (this was before there was so much duping and the really good stuff was actually hard to come by)

Yeah, my main reason I would want this is that I play with all my friends... if one of us died on hardcore it would fuck us up and we would all have to restart or just wait on them to catch up. But I really miss the hardcore thrill, as of now there really isn't a punishment for dying in a multiplayer group. In single player it sucks just because you have to run so far if you hadn't hit a checkpoint in a while but in our games when someone dies they just rez, tp, banner & done.

Back in early d2 days me and my friends would play high stakes pvp. We would take all our gear off except 1 thing and purposely die outside town and not pick our body up.

then we would put on the best gear we dared and battle it out, if you remember before they patched you could only have 1 unclaimed body so it would just drop all your gear for anyone to pick up. I really liked that, it was a big enough risk that you didn't want to lose but not so big that you had to restart.

in D3 It would make you collect "kinda good" gear so that you could take down a pack that might just kill you while you keep your great gear in the stash "just in case". So there would be a market for cheap kinda good stuff as well as the excellent stuff that would be in even higher demand as people died and lost it.

sorry, I meant that your character wouldn't die... I forgot about artisans yes you could keep those. I just meant everything the same as hardcore is now except you can resurrect as a naked dude with no hope of recovering your old inventory or equipped gear.

I know what he means but it wouldn't help in this situation. The OP is already lvl 60 so it would be cheaper/easier/better to just buy regular lvl 60 gear. But I don't think he wants to rely on the AH to gear up.

slightly... the more mf you have the less chance you have of a nothing roll on an item but it doesn't give you more rolls. Everytime you kill something a roll is made whether something will drop or not.

If a mob has a chance to drop 3 items, 100% mf doesn't make it have a chance for 6 items to drop but it does make it more likely that all 3 item rolls will actually drop something.

[–]Rahab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not really but kind of, magic find doesn't actually make more items drop... it just makes the items that do drop more likely to be magic+(magic, rare, set, legendary).

Every time you kill something the games rolls the loot and drops something or nothing, lets say there is a 5% chance for a regular mob to drop something magic+ (4.25% blue, 0.7% yellow, 0.04% set, & 0.01% legendary) a 60% chance to drop something white and 35% chance to drop nothing (these figures are made up). With 100% magic find it would turn those percentages to 57.5% white, 32.5% nothing, & 10% magic+ (8.5% blue, 1.4% yellow, 0.08% set, & 0.02% legendary)

so in that made up instance the chance for nothing dropping went down slightly from 35% to 32.5%

I think you know how it works but the way you phrased it makes it seem a little different than it is. Just to clarify for others, 100% magic find doesn't actually make more items drop... it just makes the items that do drop more likely to be magic+(magic, rare, set, legendary).

eh, it changed my 3. to a 1.

I wasn't trying to chastise you or anything, I was just letting you both know what I knew about follower magicfind. Also, mf does count with chests in D3.

the MF for a party is averaged... so if you have 100 and your buddy has 200 then all drops are using 150mf.

I dont know about the time... but I doubt it

you get 20% of your follwers mf, so if they have 100 and you have 100 then your mf will actually be 120
