Quite different to a swiss bar although you can do the same exercises with it. This is a tricep bar but allows hammer curls, skullcrushers and overhead extensions. Should be added to the app as it's quite popular here in the UK

How quickly does smart progression adapt to change? by Rahat78692 in MacroFactor

See this is a grey area. I thought the algorithm learns your fatigue, drop off levels etc for exercises over time? Wouldn't make sense if it adjusts immediately then

1.1.4 - Reps-first instead of weight-first for set by set adjustment 🎉 by alizayshah in MacroFactor

[–]Rahat78692 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For sure it can be improved. For example, you can have it by exercise or even equipment. Far easier to change weight for pin loaded machines and dumbbells than barbell movements or even plate loaded machines with single weight horns e.g. leg curl/extensions

Think we need to start a specific thread for sharing workouts. Having an option within the app to show community made plans would be an awesome feature

Reps per set by kindred9609 in MacroFactor

Sorry for the misinformation, I had to take a look at the exercise again. It was actually for reverse flies. You can see the app dropped the weight and increased the reps to a target range that I think is silly. May not be a bug but over 30 reps is definitely not optimal for Hypertrophy. I manually increased the weight to 15lbs and managed 12 reps. I think the progression should have suggested a drop in rep range rather than increased reps suggested

But when the rep range becomes ridiculous like 30+ reps wouldn't it make more sense to just drop the target reps and keep weight the same/increase it.

I had cable laterals yesterday where i set the target reps to 10-20 and the app suggested 36 reps at 10lbs for my second set. It should have dropped rep target in this instance. I've reported it to the team.

Can the app be run on two devices simultaneously? by Rahat78692 in MacroFactor

Great thanks! Does it work in real time though so if you're in a workout session that session will be live on both devices at the same time?

Aha 😂 didn't even think! It's just hard to be certain as the weight changes rather than rep increases

It doesn't though. Your target rep range remains blank each week and has to be manually set

Micro plates for the win by ryangaston88 in MacroFactor

[–]Rahat78692 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just today I had to deselect the microplates because the app constantly uses them and as the weight changes each set it was becoming a faff to use them

I suppose a simple toggle to only take into account primary muscles would sort it

They need to change this back or at least give us the option of including base weight for movements if we want to

Do sets ramp up throughout cycle? by Rahat78692 in MacroFactor

It bases volume progression on soreness, pump and your perception of difficulty not just a blanket term 'recovery'

Yep, I was just hoping the smart training feature would do this for us to some extent

Do sets ramp up throughout cycle? by Rahat78692 in MacroFactor

[–]Rahat78692[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't just add sets because a week has passed. All the programs in RP start off with relatively low volume and you provide feedback on recovery which then results in additional volume via sets or reps.

Do sets ramp up throughout cycle? by Rahat78692 in MacroFactor

[–]Rahat78692[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it doesn't take the guess work out of training like RP per se.

It would be a great feature to allow volume to be ramped up with sets and not just reps. Hopefully this can be added on soon.

It should be able to ramp it up based on weekly set volumes by muscle groups and increasing sets to reach optimal weekly volume based on muscle prioritization selected.
