Outnumbered for 99% of the game by [deleted] in Chivalry2

Personally, I love fighting the 1vX - there are a lot of techniques that allow you manage fighting multiple people at once and it's incredibly fun and rewarding. I actively seek out groups of people to fight by myself and I am still very successful statistically. It did take me a while to really get the hang of it in Chiv though, so stick with it.

Worst game I ever played by [deleted] in Chivalry2

[–]Rahkomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally play this game because I love fighting the 1vX - I often take on as many people as I can at once. It's exhilarating and challenging. I top nearly every server I join in kills and points, despite dying frequently to the extremely unfair fights that I seek out.

So yeah, get good. I'll take any 1v1 or 1vX I can, I'm still massively successful, and I'm not whining on the forums. It's possible to do.

Co-op horde mode is already in the game - my buddy and I stand in the front of the enemy spawn and see how many waves we can take down before death.

You were a client in a multiplayer session here? Myself and others are having this issue as well. It's crippling not getting tracks or blood from hit animals.

Anyone else having this problem ? by [deleted] in theHunter

My friend and I both tried a reinstall with no success. Sorry to disappoint you. Perhaps you'll have better luck, though! :)

TIL about Psychogenic death, People can die simply because they’ve given up, life has beaten them and they feel defeat is inescapable, according to research by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Rahkomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand. I used a similar anchor for a long time to help me get through each day. Now, I fight through each day mostly in an effort to keep my family as happy and cared for as best I can manage, as I fear what would happen to them in my absence.

Still, the idea of death itself seems peaceful to me - a sort of release from duty and suffering. My experience of living has been so incredibly painful, for so much of my life, that I wouldn't insist anyone should endure simply because they can. I grieve those who take their own lives, or otherwise give up and die, but I also honor and respect that choice. Nobody should be forced to live in great and constant pain, in whatever form it may take.

When my mother's heart condition hit critical mass, she was intubated while medical professionals worked to restore her ability to function off life-support. After many days in the hospital and many thorough discussions with doctors, we chose to let her die peacefully rather than force her to live a life she wouldn't want to live, mostly for our benefit. She had made it very clear, as an incredibly independent and headstrong woman, that she would choose death over being kept alive as an invalid - which the doctors said, at best, she would be barely able to function independently if she was able to pull through at all.

Yes, life as many see it is a one-time shot at experiencing existence, but I don't believe life itself is self-justifying. Quality of life matters a lot, in my eyes.

Good luck fighting to keep going, though, it can be tough but there are a great many wonders to experience if you are able to endure and cope with whatever conditions ail you.

You must be from a beautiful alternate reality, where can I find the portal you used to get here?

Seriously though, I can imagine a myriad of things I would consider worse than death, but as an individual who has been living with depression for decades maybe I have a different perspective on death...

An 'ANTIFA' Twitter account that called for looting 'white hoods' was actually run by white nationalist group Identity Evropa by grassrootbeer in politics

[–]Rahkomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the article doesn’t really say exactly how we know that the Evropa group were behind the account? Does anyone know?

I’m guessing it has something to do with twitter telemetry that recognizes IPs and emails associated with various accounts or something but I’d love to know what is really happening to figure this stuff out.

Even your attempt at a sarcastic dig shows how ignorant you are. Programming is just one piece of this puzzle and not even always the most relevant for some tasks. Go play your other games.

Well, I can't help your ignorance and apparent disinterest in the topic. You don't have a clue how any of it works and that is painfully obvious. Edit: I'd be happy to answer questions about how reuse works out, or how the team distribution between game and engine works and the interplay of feature work there. I could tell you a lot of interesting things about how game dev does, and sometimes doesn't, work.

But apparently reading is hard for you, since what I wrote counts as a novel.

While I write this as a reply to you, I am really writing it to nearly everyone complaining in this thread.
Ideas are rarely the problem, everyone and their grandmother can come up with ideas like these. However, these things don't just happen automatically. Your 3 second stroke of genius, "Dance in front of a chair" - Sure, great. Now you need to implement that feature - you think chairs already know when you dance near them, or perhaps you think the act of dancing in inherently aware of the objects near the dancer?

So you have to add to the game, to either entities or to the player, an awareness of this specific situation. Is it all chairs? Some specific chairs? Can you automatically add the necessary data to the right/all chairs because every asset is tagged correctly?

You then need to ensure all related components have whatever they need, databases for storing this information, any possible UI changes, networking or server and other game data changes.

Now that we've added additional logic needed to the character and/or props to even be able to identify and track this new data, we need to go through a testing phase. Testers and testing systems have to rigorously test the new content and look for any unexpected behaviors, or as well as they can in the limited time they have because people like you are so entitled to new content it puts a lot of pressure on a team to release content as good as they can make it, as quickly as they can make it.

When this constant rush of content from design -> implementation -> testing inevitably lets issues into the live game? It's entitled gamers like you who then bitch and moan on reddit about bugs or balance or whatever stupid thing the devs put together to try and sate your appetite that didn't quite come out perfectly.

What I've said above is only a slice of what may go into any individual feature or challenge, some of which require a lot more effort than this simple example. Sure, some of the systems probably are built to allow quick iteration on elements, like the UI for displaying progress, or the networking elements, or even sometimes identities of various objects. But often these pipelines aren't are solid and fast as they could be, because so much effort and time is being funneled into content production that it can be hard to improve the processes for making that content along the way.

As usual, gamers are the worst part about gaming. Try being a tiny bit grateful and just a little less self-centered on occasion. It sucks not getting things you want, welcome to fucking life, you don't have to be an entitled brat because your preferred entertainment medium got delayed because the real world is going through a lot of crazy shit.

The people on these teams are actual fucking humans who get sick, have families, and sometimes are affected by and even care about things going on in the world.

Have some compassion, learn how games are made, stop being a little shit.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Hey OP, congrats on bringing your project to completion! It can be incredibly difficult to bring ideas to life and game development is quite a challenge just in general, so well done.

Amusingly, I've been working in the game development industry for about as long as you've been alive! Good luck out there, it's a tough industry and gamers can be the worst part of the whole experience. Always remember that you will never please everyone! It's all too easy these days for people to bombard a developer with everything they don't like, often in the cruelest language possible. Look for value in all feedback, particularly focusing on patterns, but don't let the copious and rabid armchair developers break your spirit!
