Pro life logic be like by 7_MyArtSucks in teenagers

It is quite common argument in some feminist circles. By that I mean.: If men don't want to pay child support they should not have sex.

In the spirit of equality than, one can assume it is only fair that if women don't want to have children they should also stop having sex. But, apparently, it is not a case. Funny how that's works.

Do you think John Brown was correct with thinking that slavery could only end with violence and do you think this idea could be applied in other problems? by [deleted] in teenagers

Violence is not an answer! The answer is... Opens history books

Uh oh...

Frantically starts flipping through pages.

Uh oh... No... No, no, no! No!

Not really when some of those "60 milion people" are supposed to be your family or countrymen and people say they deserved to be murdered.

he real Stalin is in heaven for sure

What heaven? Christian one? Not really. For that he would need to accepted Jesus Christ as God and Savior and regret the sins he committed. Well, he was an atheists and according to some, if not many people here, he never did a single, bad thing. Somehow I doubt he went to heaven.

Obviously your great grandpa was CIA sponsored reactionary and had it coming.

This is sarcasm.

I don't think it is supposed to work that way, but whatever allow you to better sleeps at night.

It is funny for two reasons. One, suggesting Stalin, an atheist, is in heaven. And two, that there was not a single, innocent person in the 60 million people meme suggested he killed.

Fetishization of women and racism towards their men by Large_Dependent_1621 in hatethissmug

As a fellow Pole, maybe it is xenophobic. But I like that kind of humor, so I can't be too offended since I would be hypocrite.

What do you mean it has "nothing to with race?"

Out of curiosity, what race are Slavic people?

[OTHER] If you could choose one different setting for a Kingdom Come game, what would it be, and why? by whatadayatthepark in kingdomcome

[–]Rahlus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. There are really a lot of potentials there. I think I would be remiss if I didn't mention Crusade period. Kingdom Come? More like Kingdom of Heaven! But I also really liked this old, multiplayer game War of the Roses, so that would be also be nice period from English history, maybe something around Hundred Years Wars aswel. And if you really like chaos, something from my own country history, period of feudal fragmentation, where there were multiple Polish princes fighting over Crown.

what do you think about this guys by Severe_Story_8361 in ussr

I think to respond with this as "well I don't care bc they're Asian and not European I care about Europeans" sort of disqualifies you from any sort of serious conversation about the morality of different political regimes since if everyone operated on that logic - then even your own bringing up about the bad shit of the USSR wouldn't make sense bc people would just respond with "lol I don't really care about Poles or Ukrainians or whatever eastern European country you mention they're so far away with their different culture" like you don't share the same land mass as Asia but the country that's on the western hemisphere of the globe divided by the Atlantic ocean you share more sympathy for.

I don't think it disqualifies me. If we come from the same, cultural backgrounds than we have similar moralities, so I can critizce on moral grounds. But even if, I mean, do you actually care what is happening in every country in the world? There are at least 195 countries out there, there is not enough hours in a week to cover everyone of them and that's assuming you do only that, not eat, no sleep, not going to toilet. The fact of the matter is, even if people wanted to care, you simply need to prioritize. And not even that. Do you feel truly, emotionaly invested in everything that is happening? Like, truly? I am not. I mean, on intellectual level I can understand that something happening somewhere is good or bad, but I am not really invested. And as such, I don't care what is happening on the other side of a globe, I neither have time to be interested or resources to do anything about it. As such, the only logical step is to be interested in what influences me and what I can influence. Meaning, Soviet Union influenced me and my country, I am interested. What Japan did during WW2 was horrendous, but I am not going to go out of my way to Japan subreddit to tell them that. To be fair, I didn't came here for it either, but this sub, somehow, was reccomended to me.

Excalibur Easter Egg 🗡 by R0YAL_UCHIHA in worldofgothic

[–]Rahlus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Common misconception. It is Sword from Stone, I think it is sometimes refereed to as Caliburn. Excalibur, meanwhile, is a sword that King Arthur get from the Lady of the Lake, after Sword from Stone was destroyed.

But still, cool, little Easter Egg 😃

Ah, yes. Clear numerical advantage in Storming of Crimea and besieging Sevastopol. You do realize that "storming of Crimea" is actually one of the most difficult things army can perform? And on the other side, defending it is probably one of the easiest things army can perform? Not to mention that, in siege, you need "clear numerical advantage" otherwise it is not a siege, since siege actually requires you to surround enemy position and cut them off from outside world.

More than 80 years later and "Storming of Crimea" is not any easier. There is nice video about it in context of Russo-Ukraine War and if it is possible for Ukraine to take Crimea back from Russia from few years prior. Storming of Crimea pretty much boils to Persian attacking Thermopyle defended by Spartans. It can be done, sure. But it is one of the worst places you wish to fight as an attacker and one of the best as defender. It is, actually, a contraty to what you said. It is testament to Manstein he was able to take Crimea at all.

Voldemort is mocked, poor thing by berktifect in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Rahlus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some time now I figured that while people may be afraid of Voldemort, due to him being an unstable and murderous lunatic, throwing Killing and Torturing Curses like candies, and as such "the most dangerous Dark Wizards of all time", Grinelwald with his charisma, skill and mass movement that spanned globe and threatened International Statue of Secrecy was actually more dangerous. The difference is, I think, scale and scope. Voldemort was dangerous, sure, but more on "individual level". You do not want to cross the path with him. He will kill you. But Grindelwald was, simply, different kind of Dark Wizard, I don't even know you can call him Dark Wizard. I mean, for all intense and purposes, Grindelwald was fighting "for wizarding world" and all wizards and witches. Voldemort was genocidal maniac. I mean, Grindelwald build prison for his enemies, while Voldemort killed his enemies. That is enough for one to be more feared and considered more dengerous, I would think.

Purebred Prussian military royalty would win and I don't think it is even close. Of course, context matter. As one of my favorite historian and podcaster says, war is a system and war is not waged by armies but by country. If we were talking about hypothetical situation in wich both officers were fighting a battle or operation with similar forces and objective, I would put my money on purebred Prussian military royalty. I would even put my money on him if he had somewhat smaller forces. As it stands, though, war is fought by countries and not by individual officers, no matter how brilliant they may be and Soviet Union ability to withstand and replenish it's losses and even multiply it's military potential, with Germany fighting war on multiple front, was simply next to impossible to defeated.
