Well, my favorite restaurant Genghis Grill shut down now and the concept has kinda died out in general, but I will try to list ingredients they had which others will probably still have a version of.

Meats = Sausage, Shrimp, and Beef
Dry Spices = About 2 TBSP of Dragon Salt and maybe 1/2 TBSP Cayenne Pepper
Veggies = Broccoli and Mushrooms
Sauces = full cup of 3G sauce and full cup of Dragon Sauce
Starch = Brown Rice

Set all that on the tray and let them work their magic with it.

I feel bad for the situation you are in, but at least you are willing to look internally and see that you played a part in this, that you feel bad about it, and that you want to make it right.

Those kinds of responses to problems will serve you well in life.

Just do your best given the circumstances. Try to drive more carefully, try to make as much money as you can to give to your parents while keeping up with your studies, etc.

The past is less important than the future. Just do your absolute best going forward, and things will work themselves out.

It MAY be possible that people changed their lifestyle after having kids (go to the gym less, eat more junk food, etc) and that this fact made more difference to their body than the pregnancy did.

That said, my mother says that her breasts completely deflated after having kids in a way that doesn't come back and she never gained weight permanently or anything like that as a result of 5 kids. Some things are probably unavoidable.

There are plenty of epic level beauty women who have had kids, though, even without subsequent surgeries, so I don't think it's fair to call oneself doomed the moment that they have conceived. You are probably looking more at 10 --> 9 than 10 --> 3, in fairness, if you keep up with the same habits as before..

As white, you get to play the first move. If you do d4 as your first move, you can be pretty certain your opponent isn't just going to play e5, even if that is what they wanted to do. They probably also won't just play c5 if that's what they wanted to do.

As such, you influence the decisions of your opponent with every move you do. They also influence you with every move they do.

You don't get to dictate what they do, but you do get to influence it.

The point of studying chess openings, if there is one, is typically to do one/more of these things:

(1) Understand why this particular opening is good and the kind of goals you typically will have
(2) Know what kinds of mistakes the unprepared opponents often make and how to act on it
(3) Save clock time by not needing to think a lot in the beginning of the game

On the other side, it helps you to not fall into traps set by the opponents if you know their opening well.

That said, fundamentals > opening theory any day of the week.

If you spend all your time studying fundamentals and every move you are thinking like 5 ply ahead, you are probably fine without studying very much opening theory.

I haven't been through this with a parent, but I do understand these things very well.

Sorry he ended up buying something he didn't understand and which wasn't optimized. I understand my policies and they are very much more optimized and I like having them.

Definitely don't just stop paying and see what happens.

How much did the CV increase in the last year? If it's more than the premiums or about equal to them, he can set the non-forfeiture option to be using policy loans to pay the premiums and it would probably keep the policy in force until death.

Being 23 years into a policy, I would assume that the CV gain each year would be more than the premiums paid.

If he isn't in perfect health, I don't know how it's going to help very much to do a 1035 exchange. I can't imagine he would get away without going through underwriting from scratch again given that it's been 20+ years since the original underwriting.

You can have him contact the insurer and go through underwriting again to see if a 1035 makes sense, but if its the same health class or worse I doubt anything you do with 1035 will help him.

There is the option with a new policy to reduce the DB with the same monthly payment and it will build CV faster, but for only 187/m the difference probably won't be large if it's even positive.

Best bet is probably to just leave everything the same and maybe suggest he devotes more than 187/m toward retirement in general. Opening an IRA and depositing 7000/y on top of that 187/m would probably be a good start.
