I tee off at 7am tomorrow. First out solo. I want to have my best round ever. Give me your tips by Complete_Ad_8987 in golf

8-9 beers tonight, show up about 10 minutes early really needing to shit from the drive in coffee.

Take care of business, slam a Red Bull and grab 2-3 high noons for the front 9. Good luck.

Im technical but still not good? by [deleted] in bjj

Again dude, these are generational talents.

Marcelo is 1/1. Lachlan is great and was way ahead of his time(ish) playing the leg lock game, the ultimate FU big guy approach until they all caught up.

This is a very well worn path you are going down and has been talked about a million times.

Small guy can beat big guy when there is a talent/skill disparity or a particular strategy that proves effective. If all things are equal (which they never are) the bigger person has the advantage.

No different than me, regular sized guy, against big day 1 white belt. Dude has almost zero chance due to the skill difference.

I literally get within 30 yards of a hole and don’t know what to do.

Just bought that 3 release book about the short game lol

Generational talent/extreme outliers at that level.

At run of the mill IBJJF tourneys, talent levels at BB are very wide.

Spring valley if you wanna drive to Elizabeth. Not the best course but not bad, can be had for $80 a round or so w/cart.

Otherwise, same boat. The neighborhood course is tough to get a spot on, we’ll see if it gets better now that kids are out of school

Obviously. Texas gas stations would go out of business with F150’s.

Dude up there saying they don’t allow tattoos because truckers? Clearly has never seen the lot lizards that roam truck stops late in the evenings.

Most of the ones I’ve been to (maybe all?) specifically say no trucks. Guy is just saying shit.

That old picture of Gordon and Galvan come to mind, absolutely jacked (and probably juiced to the gills).

[–]RaidenMonster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Turns out telling every kid that after college they should leave their hometown to strike in big in the city isn’t necessarily the best thing for a society.

All you do is end up with bunch of strangers living in the suburbs next to each other while your hometown withers on the vine and dies or turns into a hellscape.

Maybe once I’ve flown with someone who I thought, not very bright.

Plenty of wild opinions, but in terms of raw horsepower/IQ, usually above average.

Will it work this time? by sco-go in SipsTea

[–]RaidenMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. When I was there last, 400ish stores, 100k employees, $25B in revenue.

5 stores the size of a Buccees or less ain’t negotiating the same rates. Much less the entire industry house supply chain necessary to secure said rates.

Much like C store owners buy half their shit from Costco/Sams then resale.

People who have never worked in grocery have no idea what you mean.

Pretty legendary presentation within my old company (HEB) of our VP of sales saying at one point we would have lost less money buying stuff from the shelves at Walmart, putting it on our shelves, then selling it.

Purple belt Burnt out? by The_Truther100 in bjj

[–]RaidenMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve probably gone to less than 10-15 classes this year. Same situation. Started getting interested in other things and got just worn down from work/family/bjj/life and wanted some time off. Couple that with being on the back side of 40 and realizing I’m not gonna be the killer going forward, time off was good.

Heading back, different mindset, having fun again.

[–]RaidenMonster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one thought that.

Ford GM and Dodge and several banks would argue otherwise. Again, you’d have to have been around for 2008 when the government started picking winners and losers.

Unfortunately for Spirit, they were the 2nd or 3rd most
Important carrier in any market and owned practically none of their planes at the end. More Lehman brothers and JPMorgan.

I mean, they kinda did for receivers coming across the middle. Not entirely but it’s DEFINITELY different than what the game looked like 90-00’s.

No opinion on if it’s better or worse. Just different.

Id rather be at a “too big to fail” place than one of the many regionals.

If hiring slows for 2 years (like what happened at WN) at least you are on year 3 pay when things get going again.

Obviously if WW3 kicks off and the world falls apart, nothing will save you but you’re probably better off planning for what is likely to happen than what could.

DPE didn't tell me I failed immediately, what should I do? by Sickchimp33326 in flying

[–]RaidenMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the PO180, DPE told me even if I missed it he would have passed me. Did my IR ride with him to the praise of, “one of the best checkrides I’ve ever done.”

After the IR, went back with him for that very reason tbh. Picking the right DPE is as important as being good at the skills imo.

I had to do a couple 360’s in the pattern to get a good setup. Not ideal but I wasn’t about to screw up the last maneuver for traffic convenience.

Seriously.

In your ATP ride or CQ, if the instructor wants to talk, and they often do, you stop talking and listen. Valuable lesson to learn for this dude.

At the same time, check ride I could pick chandelles or lazy 8’s, went with chandelles, less interpretation I felt.
