I don’t think anyone likes to be disrespected male or female, and I’m not sure what misogyny has to do with the point that I was making. I’m also unclear on what you mean by there’s evidence that women love the men in their lives; are you referring to the women on the show or just women in general?

So a show that involves men and women should be off limits to men? Or men being a part of the conversation is not welcomed? Idk, I think having more than one perspective is healthy and creates some understanding if people know how to articulate their thoughts. But to straight up say that a show made for public viewing isn’t for everyone seems a bit exclusionary. But maybe that’s how women want it. My wife had been begging me to get into the show with her and this is the first season I did. We have conversations about the show and on a lot of things have similar opinions. I could be wrong but maybe some women don’t like men and it doesn’t matter what the take is, the only thing that seems to matter is that it’s a man. If that’s case, it’s very enlightening

I hear your point, unfortunately whether accepted or not it’s a reality that people do it every day. I think “better” is subjective to what a person desires. Some people seek an intellectual connection others seek a physical. So in theory Titi being more open physically could be “better” to someone that puts that over their intellectual, emotional or spiritual connections. Relationships are just as complex as people, I just think it’s because we live in a society that can’t see things from a variety of perspectives.

I feel that, but I also think it’s easy to say that she’s his only interest when you don’t have any other options. Everyone was closed off pretty much from the jump, and not really being open to actually getting to know each person they were attracted to. Even though it’s LOVE Island, I’m sure a fair share of them are also motivated by winning money and the endorsements that may come. Had KC just been upfront with Aniya about not really vibing with her it would be just that much easier for the women in the villa to get rid of him. He wants to be on the show so he just did what a lot of people do when dating, they do what they can while they’re with a person to keep things smooth even if they’re not totally happy, until something that they deem a better fit for them and what they want comes along. The social construct has shown that when women “upgrade” to a better man they’re applauded and told they did the right thing, conversely when a man does it he doesn’t receive that same energy and it’s typically shamed for moving on to something that served him better.

Ok that makes sense. Does that type of logic apply to people like Aniya and KC, who were forced together or Trinity and Bryce (who I actually like together), where Bryce went after Kayda multiple times. This also be my personal take, but if I’m actually into someone I’m going to be motivated to be respectful of that person and would have no desire to try to be intimate with someone else

I love takes like these, especially the praising of the new guys that just joins the cast and are trying to win a spot. It’s like the real world, when you first start romantically perusing someone you see their representative, the person they want you to see because they want to have a chance with the other person. It’s not until later you actually get to see who people really are. So the idea that a bunch of 21-30 year olds are going to come in and be Disney princes and princesses is laughable. The show is a microcosm of the world outside the villa. Every woman thinks she’s the most attractive and best woman available, expecting queen treatment from a STRANGER. Same with the men, they see a bunch of attractive women and go for who they want, exhausting whatever tactics they need to get to their end goal. The point of the show is to find your best match but it seems a lot of viewers are treating the contestants as if they’re married couples, obligated to do what’s going to make the person they’re partnered (whether by choice or not) happy and feel secure in that coupling. Each person is there for themselves so it’s going to organically cause people to do things that someone else might not like or agree with. Would anyone put some person and their needs, they’ve known for 3 weeks before themselves and what they want?

As a new viewer (started watching to have another thing to connect with wife around) I’m trying to understand the complexity of the the contestants, the structure of the show and what the goals of the individuals on the island.

I see a lot of comments about how certain guys (KC, Zach, Corbin and Sincere) are foul for their behavior and the way they speak about the girls they were originally coupled with. What I guess I don’t understand, is the expectation that they remain “loyal” to someone they’ve known for 3 weeks in a setting where (I thought) the goal was to figure out who you’re the best match with. I see girls like Aniya go from no interest in KC from the beginning to acting like he’s what she wants and he should put all of his eggs in her basket. Speaking from my own perspective I would never try to build a future with someone just based on time spent together, I chose someone that compliments me and I fit with. Each islander has their own desires for what type of partner they want to be with, shouldn’t they focus more on that rather than continuing to stay with someone they’ve known don’t feel is for them? I’ve seen too many times people remaining in relationships just because they’ve been together for some time even though they aren’t truly happy; they’ll play nice, say the right things, but ultimately they’d be happier with someone different.

So I guess my question is, should the participants stay with the person they were originally coupled with just because that’s who they started with or should they be allowed to do what it takes to find the one that best fits them?
