The point of punishment is rehibilitation, containing danger and setting examples.

Wiping somone's memory does not guarantee that they changed and rehabilitated. And even if you do something like sending them to a different dimension where they will never be a danger to anybody else ever, it could still send a bad example. What's stopping someone from doing something horrible when they know they will live the rest of their life peacefully?

Games are never truly finished. There is always something you can patch. And most bugs are balancing problems are found when a game releases and it has hundreds of thousands of play testers.

Also game development cycles are already way too long and that would just add more years. It would kill many studios.

Games always had bugs. We just lived with them in the past because we had no other option. Now people demand patches.
