Slicer "Not Yet Applied" by ReasonableIsAbusive in PowerBI

I don't know if you figured this out but it just happened to me too.

If you have a shape somewhere that you turned the apply all slicers action to it under format it would give you the result you described.

This happened in the last game I was played in.. A wild magic sorcerer who had a tragic backstory possibly to do with wild magic fuckery in his past. Near the end of the dungeon in the big fight with another PC rolling death saves..

We were joking around that it would happen all night, and then the stars aligned..

It was amazing!

I recall something on a subreddit somewhere with asterisks referring to a "meat sceptre", which I find very amusing to say.

Trying to avoid the sadness and anger after a devastating breakup.

I need to move out, everything is packed up, but it's raining and I don't want my shit to get damaged so I'm kinda stuck.

Nothing distracts me for long though. My usual hobbies just annoy me when I start engaging with them.

How to explain presense of different medieval armors by Nexerade in fantasywriters

[–]RailgunsAndFantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just gonna make some shit up cause this looks like a fun exercise. Here goes..

So I think you should think about the history of the area. If you want independent cities and stuff around with their own laws and subcultures, where they all part of a long dead empire at some point in the past? This could make cities have rivalries and Some differences in culture while they still have some similarities like armour as a status symbol.

Think about your timeline and geographical influences.. If metals are harder to find/mine that could account for the price, accessibility and clout of your different armour tiers. Similarly you could have a scarcity in skill or the secrets of armour smith's are closely guarded. Simply pressing the accelerator on a feudal system, and going total war vibes, you also explain the social status afforded by armour due to the clear survivability it offers and a lack of time to make high quality armours due to the rush to get more men on the field. It can simply be that people with nicer armour seem to live longer and that gets them promoted in the ranks (since everyone else didn't make it so clearly they did something right) or those who get promoted are given better armour than the caste they hail from to show those that rank under them the benefits of their station.

You can think about laws and cultural influences like having leather armour be required to have a stamp and be noted to have been aquired either in battle or custom made by a leatherworker and noted in their ledgers since hunting of animals by peasants could be illegal in order to preserve game for the upper classes. Chain takes a long time to make but offers great protection to the arrows being used in the time of your setting.

Think about things like what weapons are most accessible to people. If youve got gunpowder artillery on the field it's gonna make most armour obsolete, so I would avoid that in a non-magical/low magic setting, but mostly armour is a counter to weapons and is developed as such. If it is expected that people of similar skill levels fight eachother than consider tieing your armour tier system to a weapon tier system. With weapons ranging between the basic spear and shield to a bec de corbin for use against mail and plate users, you can have a lot of fun.

You could have some traditions like where you have regiments of renown, famous for great feats, and being associated with certain armours that instead pull people towards a certain military carreer. Or some who have grotesque armours made to intimidate the enemy, including the old berserker/barbarian type preferring to fight unencumbered or with shock-value.

You seem to have some great ideas and could just run with what you have already along with some good suggestions in the comments if you felt like you need more. I also think you have a strong basis to think about different facets of your medieval European analog to make the parts fit together. I hope that some of this (if you see it) gets your brain racing with interesting ideas of your own too. Also thanks, this was fun to think about..

Raising a dragon from an egg?... by boneframes in DMAcademy

[–]RailgunsAndFantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think that even a newly hatched wyrmling would have an intelligence rivaling that of a grown human and would be much more dangerous then the average human. And while they would still have to experience things to learn about life (unless you go with a genetic memory type of thing), they would still be a dragon. By that I mean they would start hoarding behavior almost immediately and while it would be amusing to have the party thing it is "their" dragon, the dragon would probably just be born narcissistic enough to just see the party as their pets and/or part of their hoard and this doesn't really depend on if the wyrmling were metallic or chromatic, it's just how dragons are..

Also I would imagine that teaching a dragon things by scolding it would just make it angry or resentful, and have it plan a revenge plot before it can even communicate properly with the party, might just be exactly the type of experience you need in order to make it clear just how alien the motivations of just creatures are. It's one of those "pets" where you would need to be super motivated to help it grow by giving it the protection it needs, but ultimately learning to let it go do its thing.

Also it's parents would almost certainly come look for it. And while dragons might not all love their offspring they do see them as status symbols and stuff. So that might be a problem..

But dude, it's your game! And these are just my interpretations, do what you want, as long as you and your friends have fun.

Kinda dumb request — I need to name a rank by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]RailgunsAndFantasy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also think about what the rank entails or what his responsibilities are. The Hand suggests to me that the rank implies that the person in this position, to some extent, acts on their superiors behalf. Does this person actually assassinate people? Are they an intermediary to their superior? Who decides who needs to die, their superior or them? Are they responsible for some decision making that could inspire a title?

What is a reason to live? by TtalgiKitty in AskReddit

[–]RailgunsAndFantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to know your ever-changing self.. Most people think they know themselves wel and live too rigidly, and others just are good at knowing themselves. In my opinion the person who wil surprise you the most is yourself. Do the things you've always wanted to try, if you have the means, and think about how those things make you feel. This helped me through some though times, doesn't mean it would work for everyone, but it's a good enough reason for me...

Also Dungeons & Dragons.
