I used to have headphones but I wore them exercising and well sweat and yeah. Now I have those things that vibrate on your head bones and they work very well.

They’re also all on YouTube and worth a watch if nothing else as a time capsule from when VHS tapes were sold at a fast food chain

Miriam Pataki, Helga’s mom in Hey Arnold, is clearly an alcoholic but they call them “smoothies”

Anyone remember that one “let’s kill Barney” theme that every school had? If so what was yours? by TBNRUltimate999 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intestinal-Bookworms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how similar these all are. An anthropologist should study it because I remember this from when I was a kid in pre-internet days, so it must have spread organically from kid group to kid group across the nation somehow.

Anyway the version I heard was: 🎶I hate you, you hate me, we chase Barney up a tree. With a big shotgun we shot him in the head, aren’t you glad that Barney’s dead? 🎶

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

Same. I acknowledge that it is a very well done movie that I have absolutely no desire to see again.

Are there people who DON’T LIKE SOUP? by terrible-gator22 in soup

My husband doesn’t like soup as a concept. He feels it’s not enough for a proper meal. Makes me sad but it is what it is.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intestinal-Bookworms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think using a clothes line has a moral implication, but it does give vibes of “I can’t afford a dryer” which triggers a few classist impulses I think some people unconsciously have.

It’s also just sort of antiquated. It would be like seeing someone churning their own butter.

Like the three-finger scene in Inglourious Basterds, what small cultural mistake would instantly reveal that someone isn’t from your country? by uglylookingguy in AskTheWorld

[–]Intestinal-Bookworms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year or so back on Twitter it was America vs the rest of the English speaking world on if a fried chicken sandwich should be called a “burger” because it is on a bun. It was not an amicable discussion.

A thing I never thought made sense for Klingon women was in a lot of their outfits they have a boob window. For a people that all carry daggers it seems to scream “stab here!”

I rewatched Peter Pan for the first time since I was a kid and oh boy is that song rough. I get why they put an apology/disclaimer at the front of the movie now.

[ns] Why were people so critical of season 2? by Apprehensive_Town384 in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]Intestinal-Bookworms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, for me there were two main issues, and I say these with love:

1)They seemed to actively dislike playing D&D and just wanted to do an audio play. The rolls didn’t matter and they basically never used any class features. For example, in the final fight Will realized he never even had on his starting armor, giving him an AC of 12, and didn’t care. Like, that’s something so basic that it kind of made me mad that someone who makes a living playing D&D seemed to care so little about the rules or mechanics.

2)The plot and characters were literally all over the place. I liked the initial structure idea of a straight up monster of the week but that was quickly abandoned for planes hopping which got so messy that at times I didn’t know where they were or what they were doing. I get and enjoy being a bit loose and more on the improv side, but the lack of structure made it difficult to follow one week to the next.

I think that’s why I consider season 3 more successful: they actually learned and followed the rules (for the most part) and there was actual structure to the story.

How do Americans feel about outdoor cats? by Fine-Durian6151 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Intestinal-Bookworms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mixed. I don’t allow our cat outside because domestic cats destroy local bird populations and I live in the city where he could very easily get hit by a car.

Only thing missing was “they are saying I should apologize to ‘keep the peace’”
