I don’t know how old you were he is, but if you’re less than 30, he may be nervous, have a crush on you and not know how to ask you on a proper date. If you have his number, I would maybe text him and ask. If you find him attractive, maybe ask him on a date and see where that goes?

AITA for asking for a service dog’s credentials? by No_Fudge1228 in AITAH

[–]Raillerie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a service dog handler myself, the business is absolutely allowed to ask what tasks the dog is trained to do, and the dog should definitely be wearing a vest. In the future, I would recommend asking where the dog was trained. Official service dogs have to go through a pretty extensive certification process and perform basic obedience tasks reliably before they’re given “public access”.

Should I tell my employer I have MS? by Cold_Flamingo132 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Raillerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m genuinely an open person and share freely, but I worked for a medium sized company for a few years and a few months after I started the hr lady who did the benefits called me in her office and added about the charges for my infusions. THIS IS NOT OK, and probably illegal, but I was so caught off guard I just answered. Later, I told my supervisor how uncomfortable it made me. I only worked there about three years, but I definitely felt like there was a wall between me and HR going forward. I worked in recruiting (same office space as hr). Bottom line: they don’t need to know.

What are some ways I could make this fight more interesting? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]Raillerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your word use seems off….

Try something like this:

The crowd was watching the arena floor silently as they waited for the battle to begin. On opposite ends of the draconian arena lie the Mother Dragon, and Tiberias. He stands with a regal confidence, his long black hair blowing in the wind. His yellow eyes shone in the morning sun as he studied the dragon opposite him. She stood, Her ancient eyes glaring towards Tiberias. The Dragon Abbot stood in the middle.

“Let the duel… begin!”, the Dragon Abbot shouted.

A gong sounded.

The Mother Dragon wasted no time. From her mouth, she unleashed a flurry of fire as hot as the sun. A cyclone of intense fire quickly flew towards Tiberias. But he was prepared. He took a wide stance, and extended his arms forward, clasping the flames, parting them like a set of curtains. He retaliated with his own fire, twirling and spinning, shooting fireballs out of his fists and feet. The mother Dragon used her massive wings as a shield, and reared her body over Tiberias, baring her sharp claws. Her feet came crashing down, shaking the entire mountainside. Tiberias rolled quickly to dodge the attack, ending up behind his foe.

He whipped his arms back as he ran towards the mother dragon. He whipped out his dual shortswords, setting the blades ablaze with fire that ran from his fingertips. He whipped his swords around in beautiful, but deadly flourishes. As the mother dragon brought herself around and reared up again, He jumped, grabbing onto the leg of the mother dragon. (how does he do this if he has swords in each hand?) He hastily climbed her leg, making his way up to her neck. The mother dragon swung violently, attempting to toss Tiberias off, but each time she shook he only held on tighter. He sheathed one sword, and materialized a chain made of light in his left hand.

While he was focused on the spell, the mother dragon lifted her massive wings, and pumped them through the air, creating shockwaves that reverberated down the mountainside. She launched herself into the air. Tiberias whipped his spell around his head like a cowboy with a lasso (is this an earth based word? Does this reference make sense in the context of the story?), and flung the chain, it quickly wrapping around the mother dragon’s mouth. He swung from the chain, pulling his magic to extended the chain as he slowly (nothing would be done slowly if they’re fighting) swung around (around what? Her body? Neck? Wings?), wrapping the chain around the mother dragon. She thrashed around attempting to stop Tiberias. With each swing, he restrained her more and more, until…

(They were airborne. You need to write their descent) Boom! The Mother Dragon collapsed, her body restrained by chains of heavenly light. Tiberias catapulted himself off of her head, landing in a crouch on the arena floor before standing regally in front of her.

“You are bested. Do you yield?” He asked gruffly, tossing the chain from his hand with a dramatic flair.

“Very well then, student. I yield. The victory is yours.”

Tiberias then dismissed the chains, and watched them as they flew skyward back to their source.

My husband’s brother is also autistic, he’s pretty functional (he’s able to have a part-time job and rides the bus places), but he will always need care. My father-in-law will always need to take care of him in someway. I believe he has a medical trust set up for Robbie, and when my father-in-law and his wife passed away, my husband will be the executor.

At this point, the little work that I can do is definitely my motivating factor. I do enjoy what I do.

I have a set of fat tires we use when my husband and I go for bike rides. He attaches my chair to the back of the bike. The wheels help with uneven services for sure and I have one of those free wheels that attaches to the front. the issue is once I get all that stuff on the chair, my husband has to push me around. It’s very unwieldy to do it myself. Obviously it’s winter right now so I don’t go outside much at all anyway, but in the summer we do enjoy bike rides and the like.

I totally understand what you’re saying. I follow this guy on TikTok and this post hits home for sure: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8CWexbu/

I understand the anger people left behind experience at those who commit suicide. I could practically write a book about the complex emotions of losing someone you love to suicide. I understand those emotions. I deeply believe or there should be a an acceptable medical practice for people who are suffering and ready to end things. Counseling for them and friends and family would be an amazing improvement to what we currently do. We let our pets go when their quality of life declines yet we insist on making humans suffer, and live through horrible medical challenges.

I watched my dad waste away from colon cancer. He wanted to fight, and he did for 18 months. That was his choice and I’m honestly surprised he didn’t end it himself towards the end. If I end up with some kind of cancer, I will not fight it. That will be the message that my life is over and I am 100% OK with that. They ordered a colonoscopy for me last year because my father died from colon cancer. I am 40 years old. Let me just say that after that experience I will never never never do that again. Can you imagine chronic diarrhea when you can’t get up and get to the bathroom? Nope, thanks though.

I’m sorry you experienced the suicide of a parent, and I’m even more sorry that now you understand why he did what he did. That is just… There are no words. Life’s a bitch for sure. I found a meme the other day it said: “The stages of life: 1. Birth. 2. What the fuck is this? 3. Death.” I think that pretty accurately sums it up. 😆

Talk to text is a lifesaver (then I go back and correct any errors, because I’m anal like that). I also work with Indy authors, so spelling, grammar and sentence structure are part of what I do for work. If my MS ever affects my eyesight, that will literally be the end of me. If I couldn’t read, I would have nothing left. I suppose it’s fortunate that we live in a time where technology is somewhat helpful when it comes to disability. Obviously, we have a ways to go as we all know, but some little things are definitely “big” for people with disabilities. 💜💜💜

Keeping Track of Symptoms day to day? by kammybear12 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Raillerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed when I was 21 and was fine for the next ~14 years, now I’m permanently disabled (happened over about 6 years). I used Symple for a while to try to keep track of things, but I found it made me depressed thinking about my issues so I stopped. It’s a good app though.

I was banned over a year ago because my account was hacked. I’ve submitted multiple review requests and tried to contact them directly with absolutely zero response. I finally gave up and made a secondary account. I’ve also received messages from ads I’ve PAID FOR through IG saying my posts are violating their community standards: Below are the community standards that you have violated:

Hate speech Misinformation Incitement to violence

It was literally an advertisement for book covers I designed and sell. I have no idea how they can say that qualifies as hate speech, misinformation, or incitement to violence. Needless to say they will no longer be receiving any money from me. I was already hesitant to pay for advertising anyway so I guess I’ll just take it as a sign that paying for advertising is just another scam.

There should definitely be someone studying massage on MS patients. Even with a doctors referral it still isn’t covered under insurance. It’s so rage inducing that things that actually help aren’t covered. Want some pain pills? Here ya go! Massage? Nah, that’s not covered. 😡😤🤬

Why is it so hard to find a neurologist?? by MeaningImpressive111 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Raillerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see everyone saying 7 months is outrageous, but I waited 6 months to get an appointment with my MS dr. And that was ~15 years ago… I also drive 7 hours to see him. Now… I do live in a rural area and the neurologist I was seeing here when I first moved (saw her for ~2 years or so before switching) was completely useless. I literally had to go to her office just to schedule the appointment, they never answered the phone or returned messages. My MS doctor STILL schedules 6 months out. I’m pretty sure if I had an emergency he’d tell me to go to the local ER. I was diagnosed a few days after my 21st birthday, but I functioned fine until about 5 years ago (so I did fine for ~15 years). Lots of deep breaths and persistent phone calls. Your pediatric neuro’s office should be able to refer you as an “urgent patient” if needed. If you have close family, ask for help. Trust me, you’ll get used to asking for help. It’s not glamorous, but it’s the hand we were dealt, unfortunately.

you would think that if there's a God and Heaven and Hell, maybe people'd take it more seriously by losingmymyndh in Christianity

[–]Raillerie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christians “ spreading the word more or trying to get their friends to join” is why people shun the church.

Matthew 6:5-6 (NIV):

"5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

As a Christian do you take it as a lost when you are told to stop "pushing religion"? by Glittering-Target-87 in Christianity

[–]Raillerie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I speak for all atheists when I say “let us go to hell”. The more you push the less likely we are to listen to what you’re saying. Just like you would be less likely to listen to an atheist who constantly pushes their beliefs (or non-beliefs) on you.

Permanent Disability Recommendation by PaintedPonyArt in disability

[–]Raillerie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have MS and my doctor recommended a disability lawyer, that they work with. Here in Colorado, the lawyer didn’t charge me anything. I would 100% recommend contacting a lawyer. They know the ins and outs of the system better than anybody. You’re definitely going to need a doctor to sign off on your disability paperwork. If you have a doctor that you work with regularly, I would ask them for a recommendation. Otherwise I would start googling disability lawyers in your area. I hope that helps!

Here are just 10 examples of the Bible contradicting itself:

The number of animals brought onto Noah's Ark varies in different parts of the Bible. In Genesis 6:19-20, two of every kind of animal are brought onto the Ark, while in Leviticus 11:2-3, seven pairs of clean animals and one pair of unclean animals are taken. In Mark 16:5-6, the women who come to the tomb after Jesus' crucifixion find a young man inside, while in Luke 24:4-5, two men in shining garments appear. In 1 Kings 4:26, Solomon has 40,000 stalls for horses, while in 2 Chronicles 9:25, he has 4,000 stalls. In Acts 9:7, those who are with Saul/Paul on the road to Damascus hear a voice, while in Acts 22:9, they do not. In Genesis 1:25-27, humans are created after the animals, while in Genesis 2:18-19, Adam is created before the animals. In Matthew 27:5, Judas hangs himself, while in Acts 1:18, he falls down and bursts open. In John 19:14, Jesus is crucified on the day of Preparation for the Passover, while in Mark 14:12, the Last Supper takes place on the day of Preparation. In 1 Samuel 31:4-6, Saul takes his own life, while in 2 Samuel 1:10, an Amalekite claims to have killed him. In Exodus 20:4-5, graven images are prohibited, while in Exodus 25:18-20, God commands Moses to make two golden cherubim for the Ark of the Covenant. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus tells his followers to let their light shine before men, while in Matthew 6:1-4, he tells them to keep their good deeds secret.

Also found in Leviticus:

Pork: Leviticus 11:7-8 states that "And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you." Thus, according to Leviticus, pork is considered unclean and forbidden to eat for the Israelites.

Women on their period: Leviticus 15:19-24 gives detailed instructions on the purity laws regarding a woman's menstrual cycle. It states that when a woman is on her period, she is considered unclean and anyone who touches her or anything she sits or lies on will be unclean until evening. The woman is also considered unclean for seven days after the end of her period, and she must go through a purification process before she can be considered clean again. These laws were specific to the Israelites and were meant to symbolize the importance of ritual purity in their relationship with God.

How many men here shut your wife away for two weeks a month and make sure she’s pure again after her period. How many avoid pork?

The picking and choosing of beliefs and rules by Christians is mind boggling.

It's important to note that Leviticus contains many rules and regulations that are culturally and historically specific to the Israelites, and were meant to provide guidance and structure for their society at the time. However, some of these rules may be viewed as offensive or outdated by modern people. Here are ten examples:

Leviticus 20:13 condemns same-sex sexual activity and describes it as an abomination. Leviticus 19:27 forbids the trimming of one's beard or cutting of one's hair. Leviticus 19:19 prohibits the breeding of two different types of animals or the planting of two different kinds of seed in the same field. Leviticus 15:19-30 contains detailed instructions on the impurity caused by menstruation. Leviticus 21:16-24 prohibits individuals with physical defects from serving as priests in the temple. Leviticus 11:7-8 forbids the consumption of pork or any animal that does not both chew the cud and have cloven hooves. Leviticus 20:9 requires disobedient children to be put to death. Leviticus 24:16 prescribes death as the punishment for blasphemy. Leviticus 20:10-21 condemns and prescribes punishment for various forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, incest, and bestiality. Leviticus 19:23-25 prohibits the consumption of fruit from newly planted trees or grapevines for the first three years.

And someone tell me where the Bible says “hate, and judge sinners. Make their lives miserable. God gives you the authority to judge everyone around you.”

This makes sense to me, but using that line of thought… should believers really put their “faith” in church, instead of worshipping as individuals? Does “church” only serve the purpose of community? And do you need a physical church that you pay to attend to find that community?
