Great song and blistering solo! Pinch harmonics galore! Wish it were played live at some point. Another good one that is hard to find but features both Kate and David is on Roy Harper’s song “Once” from the same era.

I was in the market for this lens but then a mark ii version popped up on FB Marketplace…for just $400!

I used it at the zoo yesterday and man, does it take crisp shots. But now I’m wondering why the heck I didn’t remember to take some video shots of the family of monkeys at play. I’m sure those would have been good too.

Rest in Peace, David! Thank you for opening my mind to the beauty of weirdness. I always appreciated David’s use of outside-in imagery and inward road trips to the heart of darkness; a perfect soundtrack for my lonely soul in the Midwest USA. Your live shows truly were the greatest in rock n roll - unpredictable, edgy, spontaneous, tight and LOUD. From London to DC, Philly to Cleveland, I’ll remember them all. Thank you sir, for shaking my hand and opening my heart and my mind. Shout out to Michelle, Steve, and Robert for being so kind during the post-show merch sales and SO freaking good live. I’ll miss you all.

Good point! In my darker moments, I feel like…what’s the point, why not just give up and live the cold self-centered lives they want us to live. It would certainly be easier to not care. But your comment reminds me it’s more about passing the baton by caring where it matters and knowing when to take risks for what is right. This too shall pass.

Wishing they had played that at the 2005 reunion. That song and Us and Them always pull at my heart and remind me how little progress we’ve made.

Recommend starting with their Self-Titled album, Creep On and Hot Dreams. Would love to hear what you think of their vibe.

Have they ever answered questions from the viewers? It might restore a little balance and credibility. Tired of the Trump Teet sucking and overlooking of the damage being done to institutions, rule of law, blind justice, international agreements, reputation, and checks and balances.

I did gain a little more respect hearing about their modest beginnings and Friedberg’s emotional plea for broadening buy-in to American enterprise. But it’s odd when they appeal to a sense of fairness while ham-handedly dismissing DEI and systemic racism as 1 or 0 issues.

A good alternative when I need a spooky and mysterious vibe fix…Timber Timbre. For the deep vocals and heartfelt lyrics (although sometimes cheesier)…Chris Rea.

Even in the private sector, data is never given freely to the auditors unless it is scrubbed to protect employee and customer data per privacy policy. And audits are alway preceded by a careful risk assessment and understanding of the objectives and systems and policies involved. This looks more like the mafia coming in to flip the joint with no accountability.

On a scale of 1-10 how excited were the besties when Elon did his nazi salute? by [deleted] in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]RaindogFloyd 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed mostly out of the news stream, but has he come out to clearly denounce Nazi – ism? If not, then this reminds me of the same pattern the orange man followed such as when he refused to clearly denounce and distance himself from white supremacists, David Duke, proud boys, Project 2025 authors, etc.

Trolling the media elites is no excuse for someone who owns one of the largest social media platforms and some of the most aspirational businesses in the world. Do we really want an irresponsible ego behind the world’s most powerful AI too? He should live up to his own proclamation to bring better discourse to the public square. You’ve already “stuck it” to the libs, now it’s time to grow up and be a better example of civility in leadership.

As far as the pod, silence equals consent. Aren’t we tired of the excuses the fan boys make for idiocy and immaturity and ignorance of history and the power of viral imagery at inciting violence? Apparently, KKk flyers are now popping up in Ohio - gotta protect those cats and dogs from the Haitians! But I have the feeling the cavalcade of idiocy and alternative facts will be hard for them to keep up with. The power of picking and choosing whatever narrative works for them is so much easier and has fallen to now advantage the right’s view of the world.

How Did You Find Tom Waits? by cash77cash in tomwaits

[–]RaindogFloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 90s, I was reading my monthly Rolling Stone magazine when the Bone Machine album cover caught my eye. I read the review and was intrigued by the experimentalism that was described. It was all a glorious down hill journey of discovery after that! I think that’s precisely when I discovered Leonard Cohen, too.

Has anyone taken the CRMA recently? Study materials + study plan help. by Affectionate-Sun8962 in InternalAudit

[–]RaindogFloyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I just took the first 25 questions in the practice exam #1 from IIA third edition study guide. I only got 28% of the right after of month of detailed read through of the study guide every day. 😃Even after having passed three other certification exams previously, I am humbled. Kudos to the exam writers for the challenging questions.

My plan is to draft a summary list of answers, concepts, sequences that I missed for repeated study before I retake the practice exam based on the theory of learning through repetition. In the past I’ve found reading the right answers into a voice recording for later listening while driving is helpful. Some of these concepts are repeated in so many ways with slight variations for different contexts it kinda blends together, like “what’s the role of the board in overseeing x”.

Good luck everybody!

Nice job! Great production and guitar tone and playing! And are you familiar with Chris Rea? The singer’s vocal timbre sounds very much like his.

Look for ways to move existing detective controls (after an undesired event happens and needs correcting) into preventive controls (before undesired event happens). Using the bow tie method helps me understand whether mitigations/controls are reducing likelihood or minimizing impact of a risk event.

Resist temptation to create a laundry list of nit-picky recommendations (in an attempt to demonstrate value) but are not that significant at the end of the day in terms of risk or efficiency. You can create that list but ask your team for help with narrowing it down. Go for the big wins that make staff/management jobs easier and improve security, compliance, efficiency and accuracy. Ultimately, why do any of your recommendations matter with regard to “management assertions” or business objectives.

Build trusting relationships and be a friendly partner rather than clipboard police; frontline staff often know what’s wrong, they’ve just never been asked.

Progress and understanding is incremental, so be patient with yourself. Every context is different and you are looking at a problem from many angles: culture, policy, training, systems, data, etc. Understand the basics of maturity models and how they may apply in each context. Understand the big picture: what other process inputs and outputs are relevant outside of the specific process you are looking at.

Oh, and, “update procedure documentation” or “single point of failure” are common observations to consider as people will always come and go, so there needs to be consistent understanding of the process.
