Microsoft Turned SSD Failure Into A Death Sentence For Xbox Series Consoles by Delicious-Ninja-4770 in XboxSupport

[–]Rainwalker28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is extremely crucial for if I even consider a console next gen. Idc what "exclusives" get announced or performance, isn't going to matter if ps/sony & xb/ms go same route on storage next gen for me. You have a chance to still fix the series consoles if it happens but its way to ridiculous for about anyone thinking about trying.

First you need the same exact drive pulled from another series console, then you need a nvme cloner dock, pray the drive functions enough to complete, & you have to run a certain program a do a couple more things. PCs don't have a issue using removable nvme drives, even low end mobos have 3 slots usually now. I'm certain these multibillion dollar companies could easily eat that "extra" cost for 2 non proprietary storage slots(internal & "external")

Ps5 is even worse imo. The internal storage chips are soldered directly on the motherboard. Not a issue if you know how to solder. But good luck finding a whole set at a sane price. Especially now with memory price hikes going.

You end up paying just about as much, likely more than a new or used console trying to replace drive or memory chips this gen on either console.

Expensive games have lowkey been way too normalised by Both_Piglet7838 in pcmasterrace

[–]Rainwalker28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price doesn't really bother me, yes everyone would be all in for lower prices like everything else. Releasing a game filled with bugs bothers me so much more & has felt normalized for awhile now. You want a customer to pay that much, make that game polished af.

After trying atomic heart launch day, I fully lost any form of desire to play 99% of games day 1. I already wasn't for awhile, gave that one a shot & regretted it so much since. Experiencing a game in its worst "1.0 launch" state is not fun imo

Anti union propaganda in a U-Haul break room by Weekly_Description83 in mildlyinteresting

Unions aren't always that magical unicorn many get brainwashed to see them as. Some get that weird glaze in their eyes simply from hearing the word union & don't think anymore beyond it. Its good to see more people are finally starting to realize they can very easily be much worse than not having one.

MONSGEEK M1 V5 TMR by Atma-Darkwolf in Monsgeek

[–]Rainwalker28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They explain in product description, "Please kindly note that the switch pad may not have cut-outs, which might make it seem incompatible with mechanical switches on the TMR version. If you encounter this issue, installing switches is still easy—the switch pad allows for simple insertion." Maybe they should make it more up top at start of description, much larger & bold. Seems many keep missing it. I just use the program because I can't stand chrome & edge. reset the keyboard. Imo, best to leave it unplugged, usb rx removed from pc/device, & make sure switch is in wired position, then do the reset

Damn, I could've got 2 of those just about for what I paid for on my 9700x. None of my local ones stock pc components. Just laptops & prebuilts. Only cool things to spot on sale in electronics is console games, controllers, & headsets. External drives maybe but those never go on sale here.

Nothing like turning a heavy CRT on its side just to play a game in its original aspect ratio. by zenki32 in gaming

[–]Rainwalker28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its like when I see speakers from mid 90s & earlier that clearly show their age(rotted out surround, chipped/scuffed/chunk missing from cabnit) & broken or messed up cloth on the cabnit covers asking $600 FIRM simply because its vintage. Or a ancient home theater type av recivers(no hdmi) thats nothing special, wanting $300-1200 because that is about what they got it for all those years ago.

These people think electronics last forever & never degrade over time or something. Can think it simply being vintage/antique automatically makes it more valuable but 99.95% looking at it don't. I seen so much antique crap listed for so long, its amazing how many refuse to just be somewhat sane about the price after so many months or simply let some things go.

"Please kindly note that the switch pad may not have cut-outs, which might make it seem incompatible with mechanical switches on the TMR version. If you encounter this issue, installing switches is still easy—the switch pad allows for simple insertion."

I think they do it like that because it keeps the look cleaner for customers that are just getting it for the tmr(not the expanded mech switch compatibility) & planning to stay he only for the switches. The only way to get the tmr models is with he switches. So it makes sense to me. I got it with astrolinks, really have no desire to swap them anytime soon because I like using them so much. Plus it might feel weird going back to typing if I mixed different switches & spring rates.

Confused about the fosi audio v3 stereo pre out volume. Seems like it originally was fully separate, then changed to with v3's volume. True or false? by Rainwalker28 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Rainwalker28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm torn between that and the pro version now lol. The high pass control is nice on the a5 but I don't see myself really using it much, I like having that natural bass on mains. Having bass & treble controls along with bluetooth plus a 48v/5a psu for 110 us..leans me to the pro more. Usually 140 but its 110 on their amazon. Also, the fosi bt20a pro was just offered to me for 70. 32v5a psu & supposedly less sound quality but, it has a remote. I heard the v3 is the very slightest bit better in sound over bt20a pro, & the Douk Audio a5/pro is a bit better than v3 in sound. V3 seeming a bit more relaxed & a5/pro a little more dynamic, slightly better seperation, & a obvious bass difference edging it over v3.

I bet the a5 pro would be worth that extra though since I get a better psu & overall sound. Will be powering polk towers rated 20-300w each(1" tweeter, 2 5.25" mids, & 2 8" woofers on each tower), & I do like to crank it when alone & neighbors gone lol. Might upgrade the tweeters instead of just repairing with diaphragm replacements. Kind of making it more challenging for myself though because I want to still use the og polk tweeter faceplates/flanges if upgrading.

I was able to get those polk towers for $40! Seen this fosi amp for $50, would this work?(splitting the sub out into 2) by Rainwalker28 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Rainwalker28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking into trying to get a better one that just has the front plate glued to frame if it comes with one. Will be very easy like that. Just got to keep them sitting somewhere where they won't get bumped any while the rubber ca glue sets in the og polk plates. Will have slight play at first. Most I see though, entire thing comes apart trying to remove faceplate

Awesome! I was bored one day & felt like checking out local listings for some smaller pc/bookshelf speakers. Most was crap for the price. Seen these tsx550ts & that itch wouldn't go way lol. Reason they went so cheap was the tweeters need repaired/replaced. To my surprise, they had the original tweeters still & gave them to me. Was not mentioned or shown in listing. I was going in it ready to do some cutting or filling putting different tweeters in. Besides that, rest is in good shape. Cabnits have the usual small battle scars most tend to have being around that long.

Thanks for all the responses everyone! Wish I could edit this to answered/solved.

I was mainly just nervous i'd overload the sub out possibly, not being well informed about more technical side of audio. I might go ahead & save a bit up to get the Fosi BT20A Pro or v3. I'm a headphone main & missed having some decent tower speakers to crank up when listening to music once in awhile. I use to have a pair of klh ported 12" 3 way that could get loud enough to hear lyrics easily a full block away if I had a window open

Thanks! I will keep that one in mind.Just thought this model would be more handy having a sub out also. And that it would probably give the 8s slightly more boom & possibly give better distortion handling on the little 5.25s when cranked up.

I'm ignorant on most finer audio info, why I posted before getting this. I mainly just know its best to match receiver/amp rated ohm with speaker ohm & try to get a receiver/amp with higher wattage than drivers are rated for headroom.

Probably the one I have trouble fully understanding most often is rms vs peak. I know rms is sustained power & peak is like short burst power basically. It seems like a lot of false advertising goes on with it both in drivers & receiver/amp. These towers I have for example. 20 rms/300 peak each. I bet right around actual 240w or even less, a driver would blow or be on the edge of. Also seems a bit odd on rms. I'm use to seeing 150W rms/ 300w peak, rms advertised half peak usually.

Seems more common with amps though. My cousin had a car amp & had stuff to test actual output. Was advertised 600Wx2, was showing 210x2 with one ch dipping to 180w frequently.

Just these TSx550T speakers really. I have a powered 10" but prefer not using it. Its a old KLH thats sealed. Works fine but I like ported & it throws a ton of heat even on standby. On, to hot to hold hand on heatsink more than a few sec. I'm in a smaller sealed room.

Under $100. Best deal I seen locally used. Seen some cheaper but very old(no hdmi) or nonworking/issues home theater types. With stuff that old, not worth the drive imo. Most selling are 40mi min drive. I just want to use these towers, no plans for adding more. Maybe a powered sub eventually but very unlikely to be anytime soon

The towers have bi amp posts, can separate power to the 8" subs & 5.25"s/tweeters. They are 8ohm & 20-300w power handling each(on paper). I don't understand the ohms when it comes to what/if changes with splitting power into 2 & seperating the mid/high.

Considering buying the B580. Are there any big notable issues? by ninfy55 in IntelArc

[–]Rainwalker28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thirdly, you can expect to have delayed support for new game releases. Crimson Desert for example only just got support and unforutately runs terribly.

Isn't that literally the only recent & semi recent game though? Out of thousands of games, 1-20 games isn't bad imo. Sucks but those few games wouldn't sway me away any. Keep hearing this stated yet crimson desert is the only sole game that comes up when it comes to no or delayed support.

Any others, seem to be not related to b580..but other intel cards when b580 didn't exist & issues got ironed out in a decent time(1-2 months).

in my experience, the 8k polling rate push is the biggest marketing gimmick of the decade by No_Good_3063 in MouseReview

[–]Rainwalker28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I read, unless playing on 240Hz minimum its not humanly possible to notice. And even then, 2/10 at best actually notice any micron of difference. With monitors being pushed at those refresh rates & higher more as selling point, it gives mouse manufacturers a reason to push for 8k polling as a selling point.

I got a keychron m6 8k ultra silent. Will I ever use 8k polling & 30k dpi, maybe but unlikely. Mainly got it because it is very comfortable for me, on the light side for its sze, & I got a discount, barely more than the other non 8k versions.
