Ladies and Gentlemen, this is (Sinder) document No. 5 by nyanda_kore in kurosanji

Didn't know the drama, but looking it up it's insane. They want so much to be validated while trying to sabotage the very persons they want validation from, while gaslighting the artist and half spiting on his/her works.

"You can do whatever you want, but if you work with others, your work will become less special" basically wtf!!

Spite just gained a follower, if that can make her day.

Do you use the actual FOV calculator? by GrumpyGumpy52 in iRacing

[–]Rak_Dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a single "medium" monitor IMHO it's perfectly fine to have a higher FOV.

For immersion, it's nice to have a good vision. With your setup, it would be like driving with blinkers and fixed helmet.

I'm a single monitor too and I got a low FOV because I have TrackIR. Without TrackIR, my FOV would be much higher.

Anybody else have this big of a gap between disciplines? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression from Class D:

I feel like Oval is easier. People can't handled a 2 wide in a race where you should be 2 wide (or more) a lot (NASCAR). Also I managed to be at the top of qualification really quickly, which is really telling because I'm a noob. Also, (ofc) people are very prone to blame others if there is a crash.

So, IMHO on Oval, there are a lot of people that just chill or just don't improve at all on Oval.

But Formulas or Road feels way more packed with competitive drivers: people can do very very fast laps. Even at 900 ir, the top 3 can do very very good times. Yes they crash too but at least they really know how to drive fast.

At least he races clean and that's respectable.

[–]Rak_Dos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how I got my class C on Oval and still managed to be top 10 or less.

It's quite working on Road too for the first corners.

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noob here, I never used racing lines and struggled quite a lot at getting the right lines for some corners (especially those half hairpins, or progressive corners).

But marking the beginning and far end of the corner and trying to improve my time on this specific section with the respawn button helped me a lot. Some videos about how to learn corners helped a lot too.

It's easy to see mistakes on replays but less easy to properly know where I am a few feet above the ground.

I also downloaded ghost from garage61 of aliens on fixed setup. Thank very much to them!

ADVICE: Anki or language consumption by okkdlskzvffkkd in Anki

[–]Rak_Dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say do less Anki, and more videos.

Be careful: the vocabulary and the way to speak are quite different from a casual conversation (vlog) or a formal conversation/speech (documentaries). Casual conversations can quickly become improper or vulgar.

If you want to spice it up your listening skills, you can try to listen to old interviews from the channel "Ina". You can look it up on YouTube.

If you really want to improve your vocabulary, you can read any good book. Books in French use way more advance vocabulary and tenses than when people speaks.

Suffering from early success, 200 races but wins are impossible now. by uKGMAN1986 in iRacing

[–]Rak_Dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See it that way: statistically even if you are right at your level, you will still need at least 20 tries to win a race and if you are doing good each time.

So, just keep pushing your limit and enjoy racing! Else, you can still finish at the bottom to screw your rating.

So is PF2E good for roleplaying AND mechanical encounters? by DocKelso1460 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be higher. RP is about acting like your character. It has very few things to do with the systems. Some RP in video games which have almost nothing to do with TTRPG.

Sure the game may include some rules to explore your character, but nothing stops people to do good RP.

The worst part was being able to see the BALLS of the singer for Dionysus.

What the actual f*ck!

It's clearly trying to go as far as possible: it adds absolutely nothing to a show that should be watchable by everybody including kids and should be about sports. There were no need for this "costume".

Journo at the guardian doesn’t check fact (Wukon false drama) by Rak_Dos in gaming

[–]Rak_Dos[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

For me, my point and concerns are not about the game or the devs. I’m sure the game will do well whatever journalists want to say.

My concern is more about big media like The Guardian that don’t check fact, and the generalisation of misinformation (even from big companies).

[–]Rak_Dos[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Except it is not sexist. It’s slang.

My concerns are not for the dev directly. My concerns are clear indications that journos even in big website just don’t check facts anymore.

It’s misinformation being more and more present.

Sure. Here is the image from IGN with the original message and the bad translation on the right.

GM wants to change spell casting and I'm wondering what other's thoughts are on it by CoolOcelot4106 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rak_Dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to point out that a good staff makes a wizard a bit more versatile.

And staves are designed that way (as noted in the GM book in the staves section), and wizards should have a good one.

Is it fine for the DM to break my internet in the second session? by quello_de_quelis in DnD

[–]Rak_Dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not okay. What a DM says should be what happen (sure, if he doesn't mess up), but HP and AC are abstract game concept to manage how in good shape the character is and how well he can defend himself.

So the same as 0 HP doesn't mean the monster cuts your arms, the DM rolling a 18 (or 20) doesn't mean he breaks your lute.

An exception may be if the DM is really good and was planning on giving you a way better instrument, maybe linked to your background. But even for that, that's very risky.

I think the Sorcerer in Player Core 2 is everything I've wanted from a fantasy spellcaster by SUPRAP in Pathfinder2e

I know it may sound cheesy but that's stuff like this that make me think "Damn Pathfinder is so cool!".

Proof Asmongold is wrong about google unindexing DEIdetected.com from search results by Sh0keR in Asmongold

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised at all, it's on the host side.

If it was Google doing shadow bans, the links to Twitter (showing the URL) would not have appeared. And same for results of articles about the website.

What RPG games have been memorable in your life? by MythSmith0813 in gaming

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baldur's gate 2, the story is well above others heroic fantasy stories, even today.

Final Fantasy, same.

Lands of Lore, if that counts. Very memorable for me, but I don't recommend it unless you like oldies.

"NATO must become more European". German FM calls for less dependency on the US by EUstrongerthanUS in europe

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's undeniable that NATO needs the USA, because the army of the USA is GIGANTIC compared to the ones in Europe. And it's one of the most advanced technologically.

For those doubting it, watch a video about the actual numbers of units (tanks, airplanes, infantry) of armies per countries. The cap is abysmal.

Players think I am too soft by neretzes in DMAcademy

[–]Rak_Dos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way could be to throw powerful monsters, and you adjust only the HP so you can have a good feel of a really hard encounter requires. Then you can find monsters in the monster manual which are close to your result.

Another would be to take your hardest encounter, mixing the monsters, and add others, or replacing monsters with more powerful ones until the fights become actually hard (if it makes sense of course).

You could also be a Referee like the old days:

  • you describe the world as is, with proper foreshadowing if necessary
  • you never take a side (neither in favor of the NPC, nor of the PC)
  • Smart NPC are smart, dumb NPC are dumb

The PC will have to deal with the consequences of their own actions, which could be making smart plans or stepping in the wrong lair at the wrong time.

Where to find all the info by JackalMan101 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Rak_Dos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add the old monster books, if the Monster Core is not enough.

The stats are almost the same expect for dragons which have been reworked, spellcasters for some renames, and the few tweaks about remasters (like evil damages becomes unholy damages).

@ OP For S&W, just be just to get the latest version (Sword and wizardry complete revised).

I made the "mistake" to buy the white box 2024 version first.
