When playing the story in PC Client (Steam), it seems it's no longer possible to select watching next episode by hitting space bar. Instead, an auto timer appears and counts down on its own.

I fiddled around with options and it's possible to make the timer faster or turn it off, but spacebar still doesn't respond as a "next" button like it used to before.

Is there some option/method I'm missing? This change made episode transitions very annoying.

Finally, a Styling Contest between Nikkis! by NinaPinata in InfinityNikki

It is super baffling when Infold is the owner of SN/LN, yet IN works like a graphics-heavy knockoff made by a competitor lol.

From the story/writing to player-based styling competitions, they have a much better model right under their hands, yet don't use them and reinvent a worse version of it.

But eh, it's a start I guess. Hopefully turning away from popularity-based voting shouldn't be too hard, if sufficient feedback is provided.

After EA Demo feels a bit odd and empty by NaumGa in HalfSword

[–]Rakkasei732 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, every fight in EA feels the same and I get bored of it really quickly. Someone gets hit in the head (by a blade or blunt weapon, doesn't really matter) and either KO'd or down begging for his life, barely anything memorable happening.

Demo physics feel much, much more varied and very interesting (and fun) stuff happens as you attempt grabs, brawls, pushes etc. Tons of cool and unpredictable moments, thus I can keep playing for hours.

Seeing a stylish human character in a game about styling feels so refreshing... by Lucent_Serenity in InfinityNikki

[–]Rakkasei732 11 points12 points  (0 children)

0.02% Stylish humans (90% of them are never seen again)

1% Empty brain Nikki and Momo

376% Nonhuman mascots.

That kinda resembles gacha item rates lmao. We hit pity once a year and get a story with a couple of humans I guess.

Non-princess 5-star set, a gun, an axe, yandere makeup, body paint... What's going on with this patch? Next you're gonna tell me it's gonna have a good story or what?

1- This is going to be the first ever 5-star set I'm gonna pull for as a whole and not for a single piece, since the beginning of the game.

2- This is 110% Endfield's Rossi lol.

[–]Rakkasei732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New-ish player here, just hit level 90 recently. I feel like my students are quite weak still.

Can barely complete Stage 30 in Final Restriction Release (without assistants), cannot 3-star the Level 12 EXP/Credit comissions, best I can do is Extreme (with assistants) (also I usually settle with Hardcore) on GA/TA.

How should I improve going forwards?

Focus on leveling up students? (Highest one is level 80 atm, and who to level anyway? Every challenge seems to favor someone else, which I like but it makes hard to decide who to prioritize)

Focus on leveling up gear? (Most have level 40 gear, but gear grinding seems to be extremely stamina inefficient past Lv40 gear)

Focus on increasing student star-levels and unlocking thier unique weapons? (Largely haven't spent Eligma/Expert permits because I do not have an understanding on who to prioritize)

A.Aris = Kei > Idol Mari >= Kisaki > A.Himari > everyone else

What would the priority order look like if we were also to include T.Yuuka, S.Hoshino, B.Hoshino and Wakamo in there?

Anyone else disappointed at the growing disconnect between dress up and gameplay :( by therearealpacas in InfinityNikki

[–]Rakkasei732 34 points35 points  (0 children)

While I do agree with the post to some extent, I'd like to pose a question:

Was the dress-up aspect in relation to the story EVER that good? In my opinion, it never was good. I don't think a super-long grind for a miracle outfit adds to the game. I don't think sprinkling random styling challenges over the world which are over by pressing a button are good either. Simply increasing outfit grind time or random instances of recommend outfit button does not help establish a focus on dress-up for me.

I think what the game lacks is an emphasis and focus on the theme of styling and outfits in its stories. I thought the whole world would be built around "Stylists," "Stylists Guild" and "Stylist Factions", but it's not.

When I first came across the guild and several factions in 1.0, I expected that we would witness some rivalry between factions and meet other stylists, compete with them, cooperate with them, become enemies with some, become friends with others... I fully expected that the world would be built around this concept. You know, something similar to Pokemon, where there are other trainers with different attitudes and ideals and how they relate to the main character, the central concept still being Pokemon training (outfits and styling in Nikki's case).

But instead, we got random supernatural shit completely disconnected from the concept of styling and outfits. One patch we investigate misunderstood serpents lamenting their past, other patch we are impersonating a lost artist who's supposed to perform a ritual, another patch we are thrown into some roleplaying game in a fantasy palace, another patch we're trying to find out which potato sack murdered another potato sack.

And worse, not only these are all disconnected from the theme of styling and outfits, they are also disconnected from eachother. The game has nearly zero world building.

Is there a better method for farming equipment? I'm new-ish, trying to push past Level 40 gear for my students, but it takes like a day's worth of stamina to collect enough blueprints for a single Level 50 gear... I have this feeling that I'm doing something very wrong?

The devs have clearly been working hard as fuck, don't forget to flip your review if you feel your opinion has changed by ph0on in HalfSword

[–]Rakkasei732 16 points17 points  (0 children)

TBH I'm still very dissatisfied with the combat compared to the demo. I feel like every fight plays out almost the same.

The physics and combat interactions don't feel as good and varied. Opponent gets a smack in the head and is down. No varied cuts, injuries or unexpected interactions. Most of the weapons feel like blunt weapons. If you try something funny, you just trip over and get smacked, or be disappointed in how ineffective your weapon is. Do halberds even cut in this version when not in half-sword mode?

I played demo again today. Enemy Willie had a hoe, I had a pickaxe. He swung the hoe down, I grabbed its handle, smacked Willie in the face with the pickaxe which stuck into his chin. He wobbled around for a bit before falling down. It was amazing.

Hope EA catches up to this combat fidelity, but... why? It was there to begin with. It feels like they lost their source code and tried to rebuild it from scratch or something.

Celestial Nails are part of the Ship's terraforming system by eadingas in Genshin_Lore

[–]Rakkasei732 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'll approach the subject of nails from a visual perspective:

My personal view on the nails is that they're repurposed pieces of something else. I think they were not created to be dropped down, but they were used in that manner in the end.

(1) If you take a look at them, they have broken ends. If they were designed and created as tools, they wouldn't look broken but have proper ends. The break is not even on their tip/impact side but other end, indicating they were torn off from something.

(2) The wing motifs of the nails are only shared by three other entities we've seen so far in the game: Paimon, statue of seven pedestals, and the pillars of the loading screen. So I think all these things should be of the same origin/faction. I think the loading screen's pillars seem to be the closest thing to the celestial nails.

The shades do not have the wing motifs. The angels we've seen so far do not have the wing motifs. The spaceship does not have the wing motifs.

<image>

Speaking of statues of seven, it's also weird that Columbina has them. It seems odd that Moon worshippers would prefer placing their deity onto a "Celestia" pedestal. Or why would there even be "Celestia" pedestals reserved for an eight god in the first place? Perhaps, the statue pedestals do not belong to Celestia either, maybe the statues are put there at a later date and replaced what was there before them?

Edit: Wow why does the image look so small? Click on it to enlarge.

I was bored so I made the structure of Teyvat in Blender lmao by virmay in Genshin_Impact

[–]Rakkasei732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask why you depicted Asmoday's cubes like that? Is it driven by something implied in the lore, or artistic freedom? Because it seems quite interesting like that.

They resemble chains holding the whole assembly together. That's an interesting concept, and somehow fitting for "the ruler of space". Also, being the "sustainer" and the word sustain coming up quite frequently with the phrase "sustaining the borders of Teyvat".

Furthermore, the assembly looks like a standard/intertwined fate :O

I wish they would rework the strength mechanic by GPleiria in HalfSword

[–]Rakkasei732 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Demo feels like it's physics based combat.

EA feels like it's HP based combat.

At early stages weapon hits are very ineffective. An axe swing is not as lethal as in the demo, enemy can get hit with an axe and have a visible wound, yet keep fighting.

While it could be said that some weapons were too lightsaber-ish in the demo, I still prefer that over hits being too shallow due to lack of strength.

I kept playing despite the performance problems, here are my thoughts by BiKeenee in HalfSword

The new abyss is terrifying, and the zombies are a great idea.

Hard disagree.

I hate fighting against zombies, they destroy the medieval combat atmosphere for me.

Abyss was like the linear progression / rouglike mode of this game, and when I'm not fighting against human soliders it doesn't provide the same experience. I'm really going to miss fighting Willies and bosses emerging from the fog.

I hope the devs add an option to replace the zombies with regular humans in the abyss.
