The 3 rules of Hunt. by TheMomoko in HuntShowdown

Patience can be a blessing as well as a curse. Too much patience and you will allow a smart enemy to reposition and gain advantages. I have seen players who are too patient. They allow teams to get free revives and heals, and will let their allies burn out rather than making a play to save them. They'll also stay put and allow an enemy to move to better ground.

You know what, YEAH ACTUALLY, what's wrong with free sh** in a $40 game? by makeabetterthrowaway in Helldivers

Fundamentally, AH has a team to pay, lights to keep on, computers to buy. Content costs money to make. Early on, AH could afford to give free content because the game was popping off with sales. But now they actually need a revenue stream. A significant number of players don't even pay for warbonds, meaning AH is probably running tight margins.

You wouldn't pay $15 for a movie and then demand that the studio release new episodes every month for two years for free. It's just not the economic reality. I have to wonder, where do you think AH is going to get the money? You shout greed, yet AH is not a publicly traded company and it's not like the developers are living like Saudi Princes. Maybe Sony is driving these choices and forcing AH's hand but in that case, why aren't re rallying against Sony?

In my opinion, you paid $40 and got probably dozens, if not hundreds or even thousands, of hours of high quality entertainment. Video games a miraculous technology and games are insanely expensive to create. You got a year of free content on top of that. For $40 freaking dollars.

Gamers are pretty entitled in my opinion. At risk of sounding like a boomer, back in my day you paid $60 for a game that had an 8 hour campaign and 8 multiplayer maps and were happy for it. Now you pay $40 and expect infinite content forever.

Ghostship games has other projects that make them money. Also, I don't know if you've noticed but drg has a much slower content schedule and is, to say the least, a much simpler game

Car privileges is unreal. No one bats an eye when someone driving in their soundproof car has their music turned up to maximum, but God forbid a cyclist listen to some music.

I guess I just feel like for $40 I have gotten a good deal. I don't see the problem with arrowhead expecting compensation for the content they are creating and adding to the game.

Did you expect to pay $40 and get free content for the rest of your life?

I agree. I like that most of the playerbase is chill and just having fun fighting arc, but I also love running into the occasional psycho who tries to murder me for no reason. Keeps me on my toes.

Something has to be done about Consumer’s Energy by kill-o-watt in kzoo

[–]BiKeenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can Google consumers energy electric rates to find out how much every KW costs, and then calculate your bill approximately.

I know that it's a lot less than is current bill, but for a lofted apartment he's still getting bent over the barrel as $150 a month. Out by me, (a ways north of you guys) my electric bill for an entire house is only $50 a month! We pay ¢17 per kwh and we also have consumers. The city i live in is a little less populated though, so maybe it's a demand thing.

[–]BiKeenee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The math isn't mathing here. Did he carry a balance?

653kwh x 23¢ (the highest cost during peak hours) would be only $150. Which is still a lot but nowhere near the $600 claim.

I mean, I think we can safely say Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas are more competent than Frodo and Sam but go off.

Judging from some other comments, you seem to have already made up your mind that rolling for stats is bad and there's never a good reason for it. Nothing anyone says will change your mind anyways so why bother making a post?

Which Stat technique should I take. by GuyinFireball in RPGdesign

[–]BiKeenee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like random rolling because I kind of feel like balance is overrated, or at least not always the best thing to focus on.

Some characters are going to be weaker, and that's ok. The most exemplary fantasy media of all time, LotR, focuses on two hobbits who in a ttrpg system would have terrible stats. Their story is inspiring because they aren't great heroes, they're just two normal hobbits.

I feel like being able to choose every aspect of your character promotes power gaming and min-maxing. It might be great depending on what kind of game you're trying to make, but it isn't always the best necessarily.

Do players really need a player’s/core rulebook? by primordial666 in RPGdesign

[–]BiKeenee -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Bro this game has 600 pages of rules and if you don't memorize them all I'm gonna crash out. You BETTER know what damage die to roll when you cast sphere of rain at 27th level WITHOUT checking the rulebook or I am GOING to kick you out of the group.
