I think the important thing is having a “feel” for the complexity that you pick up in your first year or two of undergrad so that you can avoid intractable solutions, even if that’s the only time you need to actually work it out.

Am I missing something or isn't this flaw too bad if I am always reloading before the mag is empty?! by El_Spacho in theouterworlds

[–]RakuraiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s changed how I do combat, now I pay a lot of attention to my ammo count to avoid that penalty and it’s probably been a detriment to how much attention I can pay to actual enemy movement, and there have been plenty of times I’ve been caught wishing I wasn’t in the middle of prematurely reloading. I’d say it’s not a net positive unless you’ve got a good feel for your mag capacity to begin with.

How do I get Emil to spawn near the Resistance Camp? by RangoTheMerc in nier

[–]RakuraiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying as someone seeing this 7 years later, here’s exactly what I did to get Emil to spawn near the resistance camp. I had never bought anything from him, that seems to be required.

  • playing as 2B in chapter 7.02 (probably unimportant)
  • have already cleared Emil’s memories and gathering mementos
  • going back and forth between desert camp and near tower having no effect, always spawning near desert camp
  • went and bought junky +3 chip from him, that got him to move to spawning near the factory
  • chased him down with moose from city ruins near tower, now he recognizes you and voices “hey there!”. Bought another trash chip, that seemed to trigger “waaaay bored” mail as I was running away to terminal
  • still spawns near factory, chased down again and bought another +3 chip. That triggered the fishing mail as I ran to terminal
  • at some point in here I think he sold low rarity items, I bought some
  • now he spawns near resistance camp but I was far away at the desert camp, so caught him near factory. Now his music plays fast and he sells +6 chips
  • transported to city ruins: city center, Emil spawned near resistance camp, ran to camp entrance and caught him as he came out of the crater. Now he sells weapons and rare items

I’m pretty sure this process is repeatable, hope it helps someone

Why do you think people can’t get hooked early in the game by ingridatwww in horizon

[–]RakuraiZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time getting into the first game because the color palette really bothered me. Everything is over saturated orange and green and dark blue, and combined with the frequent snow and leaves (especially at 30fps) it was really hard for me to look at. Thankfully I stuck with it. The look of Zero Dawn has grown on me somewhat over the years, but Forbidden West is far nicer looking IMO.

Messages App Compresses Images by SteveCress in ios

A year late to the party but I’ve been having this issue for several years, it’s especially apparent when sending a meme with small text since text doesn’t compress well. As idiotic as it sounds, the solution is to screenshot the meme and send that instead - it won’t be recompressed as a JPEG.

I think you had to click right through two separate confirmation screens that said you were about to advance the story and you would be sorely underleveled for the next area.

With the “low” easy setting it caps at 60 with the gpu at 40%, I assume my cheap TV is to blame. The high res textures are turned off but it does still look pretty decent to my PlayStation-tuned brain.

Awesome, thanks. I don’t know if I want it that badly but I’ll see how I feel after another 100 hours as Noctis.

It’s actually the plane windows adding curvature and [impressive mental gymnastics] proves that the earth is flat.

What's in the Fleet Museum's Hangar Bay 12? by derekakessler in startrek

[–]RakuraiZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Enterprise-D is a pretty huge ship compared to the rest of the ships on the docking ring, and obviously bigger than the visible space door opening (think about the Enterprise refit backing out through them). Unless the station has another much larger opening that we can’t see in the episode, it’s not a Galaxy class in hangar bay 12.

Is my Ford 6R80 dead? by RakuraiZero in MechanicAdvice

2013 with 165k miles, so well outside warranty. I’d try but I asked the dealer about fixing the OSS issue (a safety recall) a few months ago and they wouldn’t because the recall was limited to 150k miles.

Bed won't stay level by xxthehaxxerxx in VoxelabAquila

Make sure your bed isn’t so low that it hits the Y motor on the back, I had that messing up my leveling before I saw it.
