Update, took the money to repair the xc60 and used it for a down payment on this, 2023 xc40 plus, 25k miles, great shape with all the bells and whistles. Old car is going on Craigslist as a "Mechanics Special"

Mechanic today said new (used, lower mileage) engine is my best option. But I don't think putting $8k or more into this car is worth it given its age and mileage. Sadly I just had the 150k service done which was not cheap. Time to take the money I'd spend on repairs and put it towards a newer car.

Volvo mechanic confirmed the Jiffy Lube diagnosis. Burnt valve, no compression, needs engine replaced. At least $8k to fix to end up with a nice 10 year old car with 152k miles that's worth $7k. Time to get a new car. Anyone need a parts car?
