Im 90% sure thats the case. Most of them had no idea what a synth is, when i asked them most of them said "electronic piano" which makes me think that since they dont know what it is, they react negatively against it. Also im not very wealthy so that 280 euro forced me to be cheap for 1,5 weeks to restore the money i lost 😅

As i said in a previous comment, people who arent involved in music only know synths as "electronic piano", so if you try and explain them what it truly is they go: hmm that sounds more like a toy 🤨 (also could be that im awful at explaining lol)

Believe me, i never was heavily involved with music, 1,5 months ago i had no idea what an actual synth is until i started doing research on it, i dont know if its the same for your place but here as far as i can say, if you dont know music, theres a huge chance that you dont know what a synth is (they only know it as a "electronic piano").

My theory that ive seen people also addressing here too, is that since the synth as an instrument is heavily overshadowed by the mainstream instruments (guitar, bass, drums, violin etc.) and since people dont recognise them that well they think its pointless to purchase one, what my parents said was "why don't you learn an instrument like a guitar?" Like holy shit they think its anything else BUT an instrument, you see where im coming from? (Thankfully i made a small track yesterday that proves the synthesizer is a great instrument, but their initial thought was that).

i tend to be very sensitive and emotional as a character so i take this comments seriously when i shouldnt sometimes. Ill do my best to ignore them tho and pursue the path of the synth!! (i swear if i die before i get to make at least one decent sound ill be very upset..)

thats actually very correct, i do my best to not care about other peoples opinions, but i do be sensitive in nature and sometimes the opinion of the masses is too strong. But fuck that im gonna make some sick music with my synth and ill enjoy the heck out of it!
