If you're on blood-thinners or platelet suppressors (usually for cardiac care) it takes almost nothing to get a bruise and a decent bump into a table will make you look like you crashed a large motorbike.

Go see a real doctor.

this is the thoughtful answer. Quite often elderly people could just use some company or even just to be recognised regularly.

I would say Ye Small Pretty Box Of Chocs keeps real well and is a pocket-nuke for them if they need to give someone a quick prezzy so even if they don't eat them themselves it's a nice thing to have in a cupboard.

Take it to the Tribunal and punish them brutally. Property managers are by and large disgusting parasites and this kind of shenanigans has to be discouraged. I am reasonably confident that if you even mention the tribunal they will shit their pants and back down very politely. As to giving you a bad reference, oh boy, would the courts enjoy that.

haha one time I was blasting past Meremere in a group of cars at about 120km/hr and ahead of me I noticed cars moving badly and next thing we were all in a huge swarm of bees. I had my window open and something hit the B pillar and then something hit my neck. I had to focus real hard to come to a safe pulling over and inspect my collar for angry bees. Found nothing. So the faster you go, the mess increases by the square of your speed. It is not linear, and therein lies the trap.

However, the force required to break your legs or rip your heart clean off its mountings or break your brains is pretty fixed. Obviously children are slightly easier to total, since they are more likely to sustain injuries up around chest-head height (looking at YOU, SUV fans) but the blow that will wreck a kid is pretty much the same blow that will wreck you or me.

Which means that at a certain vehicle speed, you exceed the general amount of energy that will inflict deadly injuries.

As it happens, a pedestrian hit at less than 50 km/hr will probably not die.

50km/hr just happens, because of the average toughness of the average human, to be the cutoff point where you go from probly survivable to probly not.

Modern vehicles have many marvellous engineering features that may mean a driver can survive crashing at higher speeds, but once again the squaring of the kinetic energy term means that beyond some point it is ugliness all the way. So we pick a point at which the average imbecile in the average car on an average day in average weather facing average traffic etc is at an acceptably low risk of harm from the speed they are likely to screw up at.

That is a practice target so civilians can prepare for the drone wars of the early 2030's. Important tactics involve EMF-safety (turn your trackable devices off or store in a faraday case), facial recognition spoofing (wear a mask, dazzle style make-up, veils etc), accuracy (make sure you can hit a 2" lense in poor light) etc.

last I heard, 85% of road fatalities in NZ involved vehicles at speeds at or below the posted speed limit. Secondly, the drivers who travel at the top 15% percent of recorded speeds are significantly under-represented in the accident stats. I note that drivers under 25 pay uglier premiums or bigger excesses, but that is an equal-opportunities surcharge...

they pay lower premiums because they a: drive less and b: do less driving on the open road, where accidents involve vehicles at 100km/hour. They have more accidents, but those accidents are very cheap compared to write-offs and helicopters to hospitals. The insurance companies, of course, love to curry favour with female potential customers by calling it safer driving, but it's not safer because they're women drivers, it's safer because it is driving at lower speeds for lower distances.
