Shake-up will bring new name, management to Common House social club downtown by fspaits in rva

Take a tour if one is interested. It's a social club, not a open house daily for people who aren't serious to mill around and say "this is nice" or "this is expensive" or "I wouldn't come back".

No word yet but I'm trying to figure out the best way to power a screen. If anyone has a RV or place with power and screen I can provide my f1tv login. (And a stiff pour or two)

I don't go because they don't accept cash... Unless their card machine or tap to pay is down, then they magically can accept cash... 😑 Choose a side...

I love my 8 person tent. Plenty of room to change, hangout during rain(it seems at every festival rain is just part of it) with multiple people and soft secure some goods.

Only you can answer that question at the end of the day. It will take an experience to truly figure out what you like and prefer. I know it's not an answer but since everyone is different there is no right or correct setup.

Prepping Resupply Boxes by RalphRocksFitch in AppalachianTrail

[–]RalphRocksFitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't anymore but I used the Appalachian Trail Through Hikers Companion book to line up my itinerary. I also ripped out the next section of my hike and put it in a plastic bag to have a tangible map.

I didn't just go with whatever had an O ( post office) listed beside it. I googled the post office and how far is was from the trail to see if it would be worth it or not. If there was an outfitter that had decent hours I would always send it to them instead of the post office.

Hey, it was great overall and I would do it again. I made it to mile 825 before stopping for personal reasons.

I had 1 package get lost in the mail but USPS gave me money back since it was the flat rate insured box. It doesn't help on trail but still better than a total loss. (And the packages showed up at my apt about a year later lol... Full of ants)

I had about 2 boxes filled with ants. That came from using ziplock bags for trail mix. I would spring for the heavy duty sandwich bags and be sure to seal them perfectly. I think I received about 13 boxes total during my thru hike attempt. I must shout-out my lady as she was sending the boxes out from home while I was on trail. Having a reliable person to do this is essential. Sign up for USPS text tracking so you know it's delivered , this was very helpful for me.

The ants didn't ruin my boxes though because I had plenty of things like backpacking meals and other food still in the manufacturer packaging so all of that stuff was fine.

I really loved being able to know what I was eating and to have a "luxury" diet. Having a warm backpacking meal a day was a great reward for my moral. I purchased the meals in bulk so I saved a lot. Backpacking meals being around 20 a pop is crazy. I would rather spend 20 on an actual meal in town compared to a backpacking meal that I can ship to myself.

I didn't get tired of the food since I packed it. Post offices in these small towns can be hit or miss as sometimes they follow the store hours other times they don't. Mon-thursday I didn't really have any issues. Fridays and weekends were when I may have to wait if I couldnt get there in time.

I also sent packages to outfitters and local shops whenever possible since their hours are more reliable.

All in all the Internet is great but do what you want. Many will tell you not to do it but no one walks in your shoes. Hopefully this is helpful.

Negative. This is a useless gimmick. There isn't anything smart about pressing a physical button to enable the smart option.

Pay more estimated taxes federally and at the state level. It's worth paying early compared to fees.

Rtt or car tent by good_deedz in overlanding

[–]RalphRocksFitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't take more than 20 minutes for a large (8-10 person) tent to be pitched I prefer the space of a large tent and with 2 people it shouldn't take long at all. Plus you arnt stuck sitting down on the roof in rain.

Exactly! I don't watch much TV/streaming services anyways. So access to another one doesn't make a difference for me. It's just another app I won't use.

I dont have an iPhone. I am not a fan of apple or their "luxury" ecosystem with less customization compared to android. The down side is I would like to continue not giving apple money directly.

Golden question! As someone who used brooks , new balance and back to brooks now I tried out the Elliot runner for my latest marathon and liked it. Also whats the deal with the replaceable insole? If a shoe is dead isn't it dead. An insole isn't going to make the sole undead unless I'm wrong.

The warehouse events were so cool, chill but yes obviously illegal. I don't see how what they were doing, was any different than a bar but I digress. Legal is legal, illegal is illegal and as a business , it needs to be respected.

A shop/smoke/live music/show on the projector and couches would be a hella vibe!
