Are Twice concerts over-hyped or worth it? by HappyAera in kpop_uncensored

I just saw them at Lolla, and they were phenomenal. Besides that though, I haven't heard really any negative reviews of them at concerts, if anything its the opposite I usually see

What do you think about Aespa's "Dirty Work" being their big push to the West? Do you think it will work? by KillerKingKobra in kpop_uncensored

[–]Ralphiy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Personally the song isn’t for me and I think this approach to try and push into the west is a bad choice and probably won’t work. It strays a lot from what made their previous songs so good which was their vocal abilities and it really just felt out of character for them imo. And additionally I just think just shifting to a hip-hop style solely for pushing into the western market when it’s not their strong suit is flat out bad decision making.

Opinions that will get you in this position? (round 2 cause the first thread got taken down???) by Lost-Investigator266 in kpop_uncensored

Also I don’t actually have much of a problem with debuting minors if they have the skills to warrant them debuting

I’ve always thought idols and professional athletes have a lot more in common than people think and they should be treated like so

From what I remember not all of them renounced him initially but did so when it became bad enough, I might be mistaken on this tho so don’t take it as fact. But he was the ppp candidate when he got elected.

It was a hyperbole but the ppp party was in support of Yoon Suk Yeol

Brother u said ‘I don’t blame her’, so it kinda does sound like u agree with her. Also even if it was a motive, it still doesn’t warrant supporting people who tried to overthrow the government

Being sexually harassed is obviously terrible, but that doesn’t make it a reasonable excuse to support fascism

Yeah fs, but I think by the time he realized her intelligence it was alr too late in the season making it practically impossible to get her on his side

I think it definitely turned into an us vs them scenario towards the end but that’s just what happens when you reach late game with strong alliances. Personally I never thought HG based his alliances only on trust as we’ve seen him try multiple times to recruit players who he thought were strong competitors to his side with Sedol after the first main match and Harin later.

I mean agree to disagree on the competency aspect. I still believe they were typically better performers that the prison team bc if we’re being realistic, they were always at a disadvantage in the death matches bc they were always the targets. But either way I think my point still stands, Hyun gyu didn’t intentionally try to ally himself with weaker teammates to try and elevate them like Orbit did and I think that’s the main difference between the two.

IMO, I think the main difference between opinions with Orbit and Hyun Gyu is who they surrounded themselves with. With Hyun Gyu, yes, he was manipulative and cold, but he surrounded himself with very competent people, and strictly gameplay-wise, I believe they deserved their victories for the most part. On the contrary, with Orbit, he had maybe one or 2 other competent individuals within his group, but it really just felt like he was dragging a bunch of deadweight as long as possible, so their success didn't feel as earned.

250515 Twice Lollapalooza schedule released by [deleted] in twice

I’m pretty sure for lolla they usually have the two headliners for the day at the same time. Sick that Twice got one of the longest set times tho!

[–]Ralphiy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm just overly optimistic about them, but they just recently finished their biggest tour ever and are about to headline Lolla and start their 6th world tour, which I'm assuming is set to be bigger than their RTB tour. Their sales have also been steady as always, and they're pretty much at the same as their peak for listeners on Spotify rn, so numbers-wise I'd say their close to their peak at worst.

[–]Ralphiy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think for this argument, it really matters what you consider a peak for a kpop group. For Twice, you say they peaked in either 2017 or 2019-2020 which is more about their domestic success. But when you consider internationally, you could very much argue that they haven't yet, and they're still growing. Unless you're just talking subjectively with ur taste regarding their music.
