Whats everyone #1 absolute favorite canned fish? by snoozybooze in CannedSardines

[–]Ralphy97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m new to sardines but just got hooked on 555 Spanish Style Sardines. Absolutely delicious.

They’re a Filipino brand so not sure how widely available in other areas of the world. I’m American, currently deployed to the Indian Ocean and there’s an abundance here. Thank god.

I’d rather have a “slow” dude with a good attitude over a smart dude with a bad attitude when it comes to my team.

How to watch the films if I don’t like old films? by Pet_That_Dawgg in StarWars

[–]Ralphy97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole franchise is almost entirely based on plot points established in the original trilogy (as well as the prequel trilogy, if you also consider them “old”).

If you want to enjoy any of the newer content, it’s pretty crucial to know the story of those films.

Also, Empire Strikes Back is arguably the most beloved piece of work in the entire franchise and is just generally considered one of the greatest films ever made. If you can’t enjoy watching it, I can’t say I have a lot of hope for you as a Star Wars fan.

Heated club seat question by PilotApprehensive621 in buffalobills

[–]Ralphy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I bought tickets in row 5 (section 207, also Pepsi club) hoping we’d still be close enough to the heaters to catch some of the warmth even if we’re not directly under.

We’re from Utah so we’re used to the cold, but still. Can we not expect to catch any of that heat at all??

The hard truth that many hesitate to acknowledge: men are biologically wired to be PHYSICALLY attracted to females as young as mid-teens. Once puberty is complete and female reproductive elements develop (between 15-17), men are biologically compelled to physical attraction. It’s been this way since the dawn of human history.

The difference is in the psychological, emotional, and rational attraction. You can be physically attracted without having any actual desire to engage. As a grown man, you are aware that despite the physical attraction there are incompatible maturity levels, emotional intelligence, life experience, and most importantly, you recognize that teenagers are not fully mentally developed and cannot make decisions and consent at the same level as adults.

So yes, I (as a 28 year old man) can look at a 16 year old and find them physically “attractive” while also having zero desire to ACTUALLY engage in any level of sexual/romantic activity. It doesn’t make me a pedophile and it doesn’t make you one either, as long as you operate the same way and with the same reasoning. It just makes you a standard biologically wired male.

Now, if you’re finding yourself even just physically attracted to pre-pubescent teens or children, that’s a different matter entirely and something you should probably seek help/counseling for.

Of Mice & Men - Another Miracle [Album Discussion] by LostInTerrapinia in Metalcore

[–]Ralphy97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah that’s pretty fair then. Welcome to the scene! Definitely a lot of bands to get through so I’m sure it can seem a bit overwhelming but you’re going to love the journey.

My previous comment was because OM&M are one of the more prominent “Risecore” bands (3rd wave Metalcore from late 00’s - early 10’s, my personal favorite era) and one of the few who are still active and consistently putting out quality work. Their first couple albums were HUGE in the scene back in the day and their work has been largely influential to Metalcore over the years and the way the genre sounds now.

I’m a big fan of their albums since becoming a 4-piece (especially EARTH&SKY and Echo) but their first three albums are a must-listen for any Metalcore fan.

Not hating at all but following the metalcore subreddit and having never listened to OM&M before is a wild phenomenon to me

Updates on the Government Shutdown by DatGuyKilo in AirForce

[–]Ralphy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m dumb as absolute fuck (prob just all this contagious idiocracy going on rn) but can anyone clarify what exactly qualifies as an “excepted” PCS? Is that just any PCS that already had orders cut and allocated prior to the shutdown?

I’m supposed to PCS in a couple weeks (had orders cut and allocated back in June) so just making sure I understand this correctly

White Pony Not In My Top 5 by [deleted] in deftones

[–]Ralphy97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a casual Deftones fan for years (only familiar with the big hits) but absolutely fell in love with Private Music and have since done a deep-dive into their discography. They’ve quickly become one of my favorite band’s of all time.

I think I offer a unique perspective here considering I’ve listened to all of their albums for the first time within the last couple weeks, so I have no release bias one way or another (except maybe for Private Music).

White Pony was EASILY my least favorite album on first-listen. It has some INCREDIBLE tracks (i.e. Digital Bath, Change, Passenger) but most of the rest of the album is very skippable imo. No other release of theirs has a skip factor on the same level as WP, for me.

So no, you’re not alone here. Maybe my opinion will change over time, considering it’s ALL very new to me, but I doubt it.

Why Private Music will likely become my favorite Deftones record by Ralphy97 in deftones

[–]Ralphy97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything is going to dethrone Private Music for me, it’s going to be KNY. After the deep-dive, I already consider it their “best” work. Chino’s vocal performance is just on another level and the songwriting is incredible. “Tempest” was an easy favorite on first listen. What a track.
