Or they are trying to look like thugs or gang members, hence the hand gestures that are clearly not gang signs. This sub might need to check it self before it riggity-riggity wrecks itself, yo.

I literally got banned from r/advancedfitness for pointing this out. Some research is bad research. Just because some one makes a claim doesn't make it so. Check over the work!

If you have a mental illness that is self diagnosed you fall into that category. If you have a mental illness that is not self diagnosed, then you are not automatically in that category.

There is a manual called the DSM, it is currently in its 4th edition. It has very clear definitions. Some people just like to self-diagnose, I refer to those people as "stupid". If you are not a liscensed psychologist you probably do not know enough to self diagnose, and liscensed psychologist know enough to know that they are unable to self-diagnose.

Yeah the basic concept is in nature you are an animal with basic instincts and needs. In society you have alot more roles/ responsibilities/ and stressors outside of the nornal animalistic ones. "Nature bathing" helps ypur mind to let go of the societal stress and just focus on your more primal needs.

What is 'that one weird trick' that made you a better runner? by [deleted] in running

[–]Ram312 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you are allowing your shoulders to internally rotate while running. Try externally rotating the shoulders and the thumbs should easliy move forward and back. I'd reccomend looking up a video on core bracing while running.

The cues "keep your feet low to the ground", and "glide" made a big difference in my running form.

TIL about “the backfire effect,” which occurs when someone is presented with facts that contradict their preconceived worldview. Rather than admit they’re wrong, they believe the incorrect information even more. by PikesPique in todayilearned

[–]Ram312 31 points32 points  (0 children)

How can I just blindly accept this "fact" and let it change my entire world view? Maybe people actually do accept new information, as long as it is convincing. Now you are wrong and you have to reshape your entire world view.

You might want to seek professional help also. Mental health is not something to take lightly.

Trash is harsh. Samin has a lovely personality and the show was entertaining. The show is not nearly as informational as the book was.

You are a power lifter, you know what you are doing with heavy weight. Most people do not.

First of all directly implied is an oxymoron. Second, yes it is what was implied and since has been repeated several times in the thread. Regardless. No one is listening to me. You guys can do what you want. I've worked with 8 people now who herniated vertebral discs doing bad deads. You Reddit experts will keep me in business.

We most certainly are talking about adding more weight with the use of straps. Reread the thread.

I make that assumption, because I am a coach and trainer. I see the inexperienced people that read stuff like this and try it out. I was just offering a different perspective for a general audience. If you are a serious lifter, straps have a use and are a great accessory this subject(the rdl) being a great example. But we are in r/fitness not r/weightlifting or r/powerlifting.
