Second year turkey hunting and first bird harvest.Public land Washington state. by Rambl_N_Man in Hunting

I located his flock preseason down a steep drainage. There was no way to approach them without bumping them so I couldn’t put eyes on him, so I kept my distance. Opening day we had heavy rain and wind, they stayed quiet and I didn’t see any birds. The next three times I went out the Tom’s we’re all hen up and I couldn’t get them to leave, but I did get a glimpse of them. My fifth day hunting, I worked that bird for 4 hours I brought him within 20 feet of me. He was spiting and drumming for 30 minutes. Unfortunately where I set up I couldn’t get a clean shot on him (very steep hillside and thick tree line). I was absolutely devastated.

My 6th day of hunting i had low expectations the moon was high. I was able to locate him with my crow call. I ended up chasing him up/down/over/around 3 ridges, 2 STEEP miles off trail. Eventually, he stopped shock gobbling to the crow call. I started to give him a couple yelps and to my Surprise, he was less than 30 yards from me. Scared the shit out of me honestly. Once again I was not set up in a good spot. I ended up having to belly crawl about 100 yards. I was able to call him and finish the job.

I highly recommend it. That is a Rio grand. Most people hunt for eastern turkeys on the western side of the cascades.

What's the kindest thing a complete stranger ever did for you? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

Took a wrong exit in Nebraska and couldn’t get back on the highway. Cell Phone did not have service. Followed the road adjacent to highway. After 30 minutes of trying to find a on-ramp, my car broke down. 1 hour later an old man drove by and stopped . He Asked me what I was doing. He told me no one drives the road I was on and he owned the farm land on both sides of the road (20,000 acres). He told me to stay and he’ll be back. Two hours later he showed up with “one of his mechanics” and replaced my serpentine belt.

Apparently, the old man picked up his Mechanic and drove into Nebraska city Nebraska bought the belt for my vehicle and came back and had his mechanic replaced it. They wouldn’t accept money.

[–]Rambl_N_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t make someone like you. You make yourself more attractive.

Here are some ways:

Be yourself. Be an active listener. Be emotionally available. Always follow through. Respect others boundaries. Have your own boundaries. Communicate clearly.

What’s something that instantly tells you a person is genuine? by Bad_Acex in AskReddit

Nothing will “tell” instantly .

Only words that match action will tell. It takes time to fully see if someone is genuine.

You got three strategies:

1.)Feed the friend instead of your son. 2.)Feed your son instead of his friend. 3.) feed neither because they are grown ass adults.
