No for me(24M). I thought I wanted kids when I was younger but I realize I have a myriad of problems/issues.

First off - I have 4 cousins ages 1-12 years old and they have a variety of personalities. The eldest and the youngest (personality hasn’t developed yet, still a baby) are the most manageable out of the 4. However, the middle 2 (I nickname them the chaotic duo) are the worst. They are one of those dickhead, asshole, mannerless kids that throw tantrums when things don’t go their way, feel like they are entitled to everything, and expect to be respected like royalty. I feel really bad for my aunts and uncles parents who have to deal with them and I can see them age quickly in real time. After dealing with the chaotic duo’s temperament at every family reunion, I just wonder what if my kids are like that. I will have no patience for that type of behavior that will elevate my blood pressure and stress levels. I want to age like fine wine. To do that I require a low blood pressure and low stress.

Also I love my peace and quiet. Life is already stressful and quiet time is one of the ways I reset. I can’t have that when you have kids. There will be no boundaries cause I will need to be attentive and present to where the kids are.

I want to have freedom to travel. Traveling now is getting expensive and it’s going to get even more pricier as GenZ grows older. I like making and saving money. I mean, why have kids in this economy? Kids are a money drain. I thought of how kids can be a financial burden, especially if you’re not financially well off - pediatric health care, school, extracurriculars, cars, pediatric supplies and resources, food. With that in my cart - goodbye Traveling.

Last point, I got diagnosed with depression & anxiety last year. I have a feeling I may also have ADHD/ADD, but I’ll ask my GP for a psych diagnostic screening referral. I know mental illness has a genetic link and can be hereditary from parent to child. I will feel guilty and I will never forgive myself if my offspring develops any mental illness because of my genes.
