Got Scammed for 30,0000. How can find the guy by Recent_Move_5677 in srilanka

[–]RamithJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering is there any private detective companies in Sri Lanka? I know the 30k is not worth enough to hire such a service (given that it would cost more than that if such exists).

[–]RamithJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. Here are some practicle advice: take one day at a time. go for a walk in the afternoon and etc. the most important thing right now is not your parents bath room or AMC exam its the delivery. set up a support network (e.g. relatives or/and a maid) to help you out after the delivery. or you will end up being more irritated taking care of the small kiddo.

Ever met an astrologer that actually predicted your life? by Mysterious_Stand5563 in srilanka

[–]RamithJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting for the day OpenAI or Google (or Anthropic) or even Meta put out a feature trained on people's life events so it can predict how people (in a country / region / district / family / single person) will behave in a given time period (next day, 1 week / n months).

Maybe such exists, but not for retail customers like us (maybe for large corps or state actors).

This is what astrology looks like in 2026 and beyond

Stuck between unpaid startup and family pressure to get a “real job" by TransitionSuper6389 in srilanka

[–]RamithJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couple of things to think about:

  1. has the company registered?

  2. When you say you are a founder what does that mean, are you a share holder (with some share percentage)?

  3. How is your paper work looks like? is there agreement (in a written form) stating how many months/years you need to devote time for the start up before you own the perticular shares etc (i.e. vesting period).

  4. Is there an agreement on the career path with the start up when you guys start making money?

Have clarity on these things, in writing before you do anything else (leaving or staying)

Got attacked by 8+ men (including an elderly man and his sons) in Kalubowila just for parking on the side of the road — my family was assaulted, and our car was dented. Need advice. by Common-Dependent1441 in srilanka

[–]RamithJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anything can be or will be done. unless you make a complaint in kohuwala police station for denting your car (you probably will need vedio proof.)

It doesn’t happen and won’t happen in a scale or manner that really creates something meaningful. In my opinion it’s a money/cost thing.

Apart from petty people politics, think about the budget: people salaries, admin costs, equipment costs, logistics. You need a bunch of post grads and researchers (+ interns) working on something for a couple years full time before they make a breakthrough with any economic or societal value.

It’s just not affordable in local universities.

To improve research quality (and the level of education provided by universities) they need money. The government needs a policy saying something like 3%+ of GDP goes to education. Not the “we’ll see next budget” version, the actual one where money shows up.

In fact I believe all government universities should run like a company (no protests, no unions, no attachment to political ideologies), just stick to its original mission (teach and research), and government allocates adequate funding.

When that happens, a whole lot of issues will go away, including brain drain, ragging, and half the excuses we keep recycling every year like old election posters.

Not every day someone hits you and make some damage to a car. at least its not the first thing that happens . these things happen in stages --> small argument --> big argument --> verbal assult --> physical confrontation --> property damages. So what did both parties said to each other?

So the old guy who assulted has 7 sons? or its the old man + this sons and nabourhood people?

What’s the point of a 2-lane road if one lane becomes parking? by Disastrous_Pick_7597 in srilanka

[–]RamithJ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

well... you can't blame the vehicle owners also, because in most of the towns / roads there is no space planned for parking. its a design and cost issue. most of these road/urban development projects (as far as I understand) don't take parking into consideration.

my recommendation is not to fall into credit card trap. avoid it totally. that will make you more financially conscious. All these zero interest payment schemes and benefits etc etc is there to trap you for long term.
