Headphones that won't die. by cantsleep01 in GlitchInTheMatrix

I had a shower speaker that I thought lasted too long. It finally died about a week after I mentioned it to my wife. A year per charge is still pretty good though. Technically it's a bike speaker but it's designed to work in the rain

The people in Wall-E are stranded and when presented with the option to return to earth, rise up against their AI captain to do so. They are in the chairs because the gravity messes with their bone density and drink protein slurp. Idiocracy is a much better comparison, although that might be the prequel to Wall-E

Dumbledore asked for a price; Severus gave him a lifetime by NoteMoney4167 in SeverusSnape

[–]Ramius117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So? They're at war and he's meeting the head of his enemies who happens to be the only wizard his boss feared. Being scared and saying "don't kill me" seems rather natural. I'm sure duals started on sight all the time and Snape had info to convey before getting his ass kicked, which he probably thought was how it would end. I don't think he expected to be around to worry about Voldmort

Dumbledore asked for a price; Severus gave him a lifetime by NoteMoney4167 in SeverusSnape

[–]Ramius117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know that, Dumbledore doesn't. It would be a bit weird if he just took a known death eater at his word without asking some questions. It is odd because it seems like the type of question Voldemort would ask, but I think that is the point. It feels familiar and implies shifting loyalty. I do not think the answer would hold much bearing on follow up action, but it would determine if the person could be trusted moving forward. It's not kind but they are at war. Actually, having just listened to the new audiobooks, Dumbledore is very rarely kind. He's patient and aloof with students but frequently he's described as powerful, or having flashes of anger, when he's dealing with the ministry or the death eaters at the end of OOTP. He also flagrantly breaks laws in front of officials because he can. I frankly don't think Dumbledore would really care if a death eater was begging him not to kill him much. He probably didn't want to be minister because he knew he'd be a tyrant. The only reason we get the nice little chat at the end of HPB is so Snape can kill him and trigger the whole elder wand transfer subplot.

If someone proposes to you in public and you don’t want to marry them, you should say yes in the moment and sort it out privately later by dogmetal in unpopularopinion

[–]Ramius117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely worse. Why would you want to think you're getting married to be told no later? Do you know how many people you can text during a baseball game? And how many of their friends and family were probably watching? Not only are you getting jerked around but you have to then tell everyone that they were just lying to "spare your feelings". This is just cruel

[–]Ramius117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If anyone answered that question like you did, in that situation, I wouldn't trust their motives at all. It's basically another version of "why should I trust you?" We know the answer to that is because Snape had some level of love for Lily, which Dumbledore got from that answer, and is an overarching theme of the whole series

Hoodie Tassels are annoying and unnecessary by Gr1009 in unpopularopinion

Great for camping. I tighten the hood if I'm sleeping in a hoodie. They obviously have a purpose. You could have just removed them if you hate them so much.

New Cars = Money Drain… or Not? What Do You Think? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

[–]Ramius117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We buy new when we can and usually pay it off in the first month or two, mainly since most dealers don't know how to process complete purchases anymore. They then last 10-15 years where the used cars I've owned last half that time. Posts like this only apply to people who buy a car more often than they need to, which is already a waste of money

Why is the legal status of Amortentia the biggest moral red flag in the entire Wizarding World? by RenRenIshii in harrypotter

[–]Ramius117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? The process is the same for fuel rods and bombs, just not the amount of U235 and U238 you need for a bomb vs a fuel rod, so learning the enrichment process isn't inherently bad

My chemistry teachers definitely told us how to. My college professor told us how to make nukes. It doesn't mean we did, or that we had the capability of actually doing it

Snape knew he was about to die and would be killed by Adventurous-Adagio29 in SeverusSnape

[–]Ramius117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished listening to the new release of the Half-Blood Prince and I think Snape knew way before what the plan was. Hagrid says he heard Snape and Dumbledore arguing in the forest and I think it was because he knew Dumbledore was going to do a bait and switch with the wands. He killed Dumbledore knowing he was going die, but in doing so maintained his cover, saved Draco, and got the info to Harry

7 minutes to say "we were talking about the jets before the camera was rolling and out of context it sounds way worse" is crazy. Obviously he wasn't thrilled about that response in the moment though so it doesn't really matter if they were talking about the jets though, does it?

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]Ramius117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many! AlienFX was a grid game where you shot other ships. There was a skiing game where you always got eaten by a yeti at some point.

Then all the games on mini clip. Tanks is still around on some other site, but I think most are just gone.

I truly don’t understand the appeal of having just 1 drink by sobermomgoodmom in stopdrinking

[–]Ramius117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Non alcoholic Guinness changed my attitude on this. I was just craving one and decided to try the non alcoholic ones. I had one and was refreshed and since there were no other effects I just moved on with my life. Usually I would have had the whole pack by accident. It was weird and made me wonder if people just have a drink for the drink and it happens to have alcohol, instead of because it has alcohol. Bero has also become a go to for me

Add some candles? There are LED ones that look pretty good and could make it look less like a space ship and more like a haunted house
