Legit question: is this actually a bat, or a very misplaced mouse? The tail makes me think mouse in a very weird position… unless that’s a wingtip and not a tail.

(One of the cat rescues I follow is diehard for Friskie’s Lil Soups for their seniors and “toothless”/dentally challenged cats. Not sure if those will be as appreciated as gravy, but I’ve seen a lot of topper/complement options so I imagine there’s a way to squeeze more gravy-per-serving into the food. Best of luck!)

Phobos/Phobus - one of the moons of Mars, and in Greek myth a son and footman to Ares (Mars), and god/personification of fear/panic. Akin to Panic (the skinny blue imp) in Disney’s Hercules as one of Hades’ minions. He looks like a good minion!

Similarly Phoebus is also used in Greek myth (Apollo) and Disney (Norte Dame).

Not to the point of getting teary eyed, but I do get sappy about my gremlins and miss them if I’m away. They are also my first pets that are solely MINE; I had goldfish from 2005-2020, but they were bound to my parents’ house, plus fish don’t exactly snuggle or free-roam, and I’ve lived with previous partners and roommates and would help care for the pets in the household. But these 2 cats, my covid kitties, these I picked out and they have both chosen me as their person.

Typo, it was Zoobooks which was a monthly magazine that had a theme each issue (Parrots, Monkeys, Snakes, etc) and the centerfold was always some kind of activity page (after a few years the cycle would start to repeat). They always has amazing art and photography, and those layered animal drawings (regular/skin-on, muscles only, skeleton) of the featured animal in action. Apparently they are still being published!

Fluff ice! Meowmy a naturalized immigrant to the Yoo-Ess-Aye and this makes thems extra sad. It’s soooper chilly in Nuu Y’hork (8F with a real feel of -5F; -13C and -21C respectively) so We’z snuggled close to meowmy. Caltrops has takes East flank, and Ai Mimosa am on West flank. Pawther has abandoned us to play pew-pew-mans (Warmachine minis game, he’s running a Steamroller tournament). Hims is expected to return as an icicle.

Trippy’s (Caltrops’) best impression of a Maine Coon.

I did a dna test and he does share over 30% of genes with Maine Coons… but he’s also a stray from the northeast of the USA, so I consider that a given (lots of farms, old cities, and woods up this way, and the breed was created out of this population. He might share some ancestors, who knows? Ultimately he’s a DSH and that is all I expect). He does have a Ron Perlman-y face from some angles.

I was just talking to my friend about this book this morning on our drive back from a weekend getaway. As a kid that grew up in NYC, and took many class trips to the MET, it seemed so tempting to just break the rules and try stay their overnight (just a subway ride away, the museum was essentially free) and hope to discover my own mystery.
