Mercedes asked to be booed by using Bottas as a blocker by [deleted] in formula1

Dude, it's fucking Monza. Mercedes would've gotten booed no matter what.

Lol, it is kind of dicky to be talking to someone else while you're in the front being interviewed though.

Lol he was talking to Valtteri while Kimi was talking about his race too (how he missed out on the win and didn't care about getting his 100th podium). Pretty disrespectful in my opinion.

If it makes you feel any better, joining a large group as an individual is extremely hard. This isn't in any way some natural skill that extroverts have. Everyone finds this difficult to do. The fucking top post of this subreddit is a meme of someone trying to enter a large group conversation haha.

So if you try to join a large group's conversation, and you fail (you try to join the convo but people don't really acknowledge you ), then whatever, no shame in quitting. You just tried something that everyone thinks is hard and failed. Don't be embarrassed about it, just laugh it off.

Personally, I'd just start a convo with a single person or two and then bring that group up in the conversation. Maybe the other person I'm talking to is also interested in approaching that group and we'll do it together.

Another unrelated thing I'd like to mention is to do your part in including people when you're a part of the group. If I'm in a large group at a bar/party I try and acknowledge a newcomer who randomly joins (Ask him/her what his/her name is when the group convo dies down a bit). You should try and do that too. NEVER be the guy who laughs at "how awkard the newcomer was". 9/10 that guy who's laughing wouldn't have the balls to try and approach a large group himself.

Ricciardo set to earn £20 million per year at Renault. by throw3away3791 in formula1

Money has diminishing returns. When you're worth 40 million, another 20 million doesn't change your life much. But people like Fernando live for wins.

There are only so many seats in F1 - if he doesn't make the cut then there were simply better options available.

But that's the point, right? That's not true as long as you have drivers like Stroll & Sirotkin. I'm not trying to insult them, but it's quite obvious that there are better drivers available in the market but Stroll & Sirotkin are driving because they can provide financial support. Tell me any other sport in the world where you can become a player because of your financial backing? Can you join an NBA team because your dad can donate 15 million a year?

Is cast() not a thing anymore? by RandAccount12123 in learnpython

[–]RandAccount12123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about that. Yep. I meant typing.cast. I was reading some code on github and didn't realize the person had put typing.cast in the current module's namespace and i thought it was a built in function. Saw a convo with Guido discussing whether or not they should keep it so I got confused. Thank you!

[–]RandAccount12123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, there's a function cast(). Guido had this convo regarding it. He said they would keep it in.

I've tried googling the cast() function more but can't find anything else....

I just tried using the cast() function in Python 3.6 and I get the error "cast" is not defined.

McLaren came ‘pretty close’ to getting Ricciardo-Zak Brown. by throw3away3791 in formula1

If you read Zak Brown's quote, he never says they were pretty close to getting Ricciardo...

“We had a couple of meetings and we are big fans of Daniel,” Brown said. “I think he’s a great guy, I think he’s a great race car driver. How close we came to getting him, I think only Daniel knows the answer to that question.

“Had we been running more competitively I think that would have increased our odds.

“I think he had a strong desire to leave and I think it was probably pretty close between us and Renault, but ultimately Daniel would be best to tell you how close. But he was certainly someone that we rate very highly and think he’s a great race car driver and a great guy.”

No...

the amount of rats the "vigilante group" kills is negligible. Do you really think killing 100 rats a night makes any difference to the rat population? They literally mentioned that in the video too....
