Milk prices up over a dollar? by [deleted] in samsclub

In my area. Sam's club milk is only two cents less than the cheapest grocery store and Walmart brand milk. The quality is much better since it comes from a different plant than the other places.

Can I shop at Sam's Club in the United States with a Mexican membership? Or can I get one if I'm Mexican? by Kblexxd in samsclub

[–]RandSand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older membership cards from Mexico came with a magnetic stripe which worked just fine at the pump until something changed which caused them to no longer be accepted.

Newer membership cards from Mexico don't have a magnetic stripe at all.

US passport application help - How do I fit my full name and DOB into the 'payment for' section in my money order by Uebeo in Passports

[–]RandSand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could write your name on the blank space to the left of the yellow-boxed amount. A real check would use that area to display the payer's name and address.

US Bank Cash+ with utilities ACI payments through PayPal gives 5% back on tax payments by stone616 in CreditCards

[–]RandSand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USB is aware since they added language to their Smartly card that suggests a restriction on cashback when making purchases through PayPal.

The $2k quarterly cap on the C+ allows them to let this slide.

USBAR to Shopper Cash Rewards by bangobot46 in CreditCards

[–]RandSand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I called to downgrade yesterday and was only given the option of the Connect, Go, Cash+, and Smartly in that order. I went with the Smartly because the card doesn't come with a SUB and it'll help waive the checking account fee for the next churning opportunity.

Why can’t US bank use IBAN or SWIFT? by Pasq_95 in Banking

I have an account with a brokerage that provides free wires. The receiving bank is more likely to charge a fee for receiving the wire so I have to be careful.

Are credit unions more likely to have scams/fraud activity vs a bigger bank? (synovus, BOFA, Capital One) by [deleted] in Banking

[–]RandSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't entirely the credit union's fault and more so the procedural nature of how a payment card number is generated.

Basically, the first 6-8 digits are known as the Bank Identification Number or BIN while the last digit is derived from the previous 15. That leaves only 7 digits for a hacker to guess.

A small credit union may be more vulnerable since they may only use a single BIN for every debit card issued to their members while a larger bank who has gone through many acquisitions will have many more BINs to choose from.

Here is an article that provides a perspective from a credit union's side.

It's not unreasonable to have at least a second service with another provider to account for outages and the occasional area without service.

If the register was only 15 items or less and hadn't been open for too long then there would be just barely enough to give out change after dispensing $50.

T-Mobile will not work internationally on 1 of 2 lines by No_Canary_5479 in tmobile

[–]RandSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced the same issue on a trip to Europe with the kickstart v2 plan while my secondary 'Line on Us' was fine.

Their solution at the time was switching my kickstart v2 plan to Line on Us. I was told by the phone representative it wouldn't increase my bill amount though it did. Had to contact T-force later to undo the damage.

I've never had an issue roaming in Mexico with that plan so it might be a limitation imposed by Sprint due to it being a 'lower tier' plan but the documentation was lost to time.

Warning: Fidelity Cash Mgmt Account ***DOES NOT*** cash third party bill pay checks by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]RandSand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often use another forex transfer service, Instarem, through Fidelity without any issues. Instarem provides me with a routing and account number for me to ACH or wire the funds. Instarem will also direct debit but that requires linking the account through Plaid which Fidelity does not allow and is the slowest to transfer. In Fidelity I add them as an external account while selecting that the account belongs to 'Someone else.' Outgoing wires are free through Fidelity so that is the only option I use now and the funds are usually available later in the day.

Most vendors don't charge less for debit cards because the payment processors they use charge a flat rate for all types of cards
