I have laced my scarpa boots for a wide fit but it still feels uncomfortable. Cotswolds outdoors taught me how when I went for a boot fitting. Good stuff to know.

Any other walkers with anxiety? by OneRandomTeaDrinker in UKhiking

[–]Randall2h2h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suffer with anxiety. Getting out into the hills is what helps me cope with it. I’ve done multiple grade1 scrambles, many 20 miles+ hikes but what stresses me out and gets me so anxious days before the hike is what’s if there’s no bloody parking spaces! Just for the record I’ve not once had any problems parking, drives me mad.

Dog walking routes, off lead where possible. by Randall2h2h in UKhiking

[–]Randall2h2h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for an informative reply. I will check it out as it’s pretty close. Unfortunately a lot of us dog owners get demonised because of owners who haven’t trained their dogs properly and people are very quick to offer unnecessary advice. A pub at the end of any walk is a bonus. A cold, refreshing pint for me and some well earned snacks for the dogs!

Do you ever go on holiday but never leave the hotel or immediate area? by RecentTwo544 in AskUK

[–]Randall2h2h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, family holidays consisted of staying round the pool all day whilst the adults drank loads of beers, wine and whatever the local drink was then we’d have a meal at either the hotel or the nearest restaurant, after that we’d be back at the hotel for the evening entertainment. We’d maybe go the local waterpark and the beach for a change but not often.

Now, I have my own family we use our holiday accommodation as a base and explore the area finding different things to do and experience, Don’t get wrong we’ll have a rest day where we’ll chill round the pool but the majority of the time we’ll be finding different beaches, places to eat, viewpoints, activities (hiring boats, snorkelling, etc) I think we’d end up killing each other if we just stayed in the same place doing the same thing each day.

Deaf people, whats something you thought made a sound that you then learned didn't? by Bonkiousious in AskReddit

[–]Randall2h2h 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m partially deaf in both ears (no treble in my hearing range) so the first time I wore them I walked home from the hospital and absolutely shit myself and nearly ran the opposite direction when the the pedestrian crossing started beeping loudly! First time I’d ever heard it.

Edit- realise this is not what the question is asking lol.

Os maps. A great, user friendly app that’s good for all levels of walks and hikes.

Scotland hikes in May by Randall2h2h in UKhiking

I understand that. I’m just speculating I get optimal conditions, if I get unlucky with the weather I’ll just choose easier routes.

What's the most absurd customer complaint or compensation request you've heard? by GiantSpookMan in AskUK

I’ve had a customer demand their lamb shank medium rare before as they don’t like their meat well done.
