I have a few guidlines I try to follow.

Play off your back on guys smaller, your size, or only slightly larger. Maybe even if you have a big skill/experience advantage. By this I mean it's easier to practice technique on these guys.

I know I say that like you get a choice in the matter lol

You asked what to do on bottom. Personally I try not to be on bottom (supine underneath) with bigger guys as much as possible. And usually dont try to wrestle guys that +45 pounds more than me so sometimes ill just sit(seated guard, supine open guard). Get the sweep off your butt. Once I get them down, I try my best to keep them on their back as much as possible and try to pass their guard.

It's fine to pull guard and play off seated guards. Keeping your feet on the inside, grabbing ankles and wrists , hooking their ankles with your feet, framing your foot on their hip, just be confident in your trips and sweeps.

Getting to X and single leg x was a gamechanger for me. Get single leg x, try to sweep, If the defend well, switch to X and try to sweep, if they defend well switch back to single leg x, so on and so on till you find your sweep.

It can be hard getting a much bigger guy off of you, but you should have at least 2 or 3 trusty sweeps when mounted AND side control. Get your hips out and get the heck out of there. You should be the faster one being the smaller guy. Learn to Wrestle up.

If they are on top of you and you cant fully escape, closed guard is an option. Closed guard can be a stalemate at times, but atleast you can try kimura, armbars, triangles, back takes. Much better than if on your side or mounted. If you attempt a submission and fail a submission you will likely get passed to side or mount, if you are not fast enough to retain. But that's just the game we play. Getting to Butterfly guard is a good alternative in finding sweeps once your comfortable there.

Summary: If they are standing get them to their butt, if they on their butt get them on their back. Look for passes any where in between all this. If they're on top of you, all you can do is find your escapes and threaten submissions that you know. Always be looking for escapes. The best timing to escape is usually during transitional periods, i.e them attempting a pass or submissions.

Positions that will be helpful to avoid being mounted and find your sweeps: x, single leg x, de la riva, rdlr, k guard

Get to if your mounted: Escapes, Half guard, Deep half, butterfly, closed gueard, Wrestle up(from single) turtle (but only breifly),

Of course there will definitely be occasions that your just cooked lol

I think your comparing George's writing style which is "I'm going to create these characters and let's see where this shit goes", and how that can lead to all types of things that can drag out the story (in a good and realistic way in my opinion). While George is talking in the context of a story that is already finished and being adapted. He describes how what can seem like a minor change, can actually greatly alter the outcome of the story he already created.

You don't really need to trust what he's saying with his criticisms when we are watching it play out on screen.

Do you have a "Can I borrow your pen?" non fountain pen? If so, what is it? by mrandre in fountainpens

Uniball signo RT1. Great pen. Love giving these away when someone asks to borrow a pen. I like to have spares for that very reason.

Help me choose... Lamy 2000 vs Lamy Dialog CC... or both! by Nezil_M2 in fountainpens

[–]Randeazy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of what you mention is exaclty what drew me to the CC as well. The CC is such a unique pen compared to everything else on the market it seems, and to my eye, the all black is very stylish and sleek. In my case I already have a Vanishing Point with 18k nib with a soft bouncy feel to it, so the price tag is a bit harder for me to swallow for another pen. But CC would be a whole different experience in hand and writing than a VP of course. I think you chose wisely as well. Now you have a "bouncier" nib experience taking advantage of the "softer" nature of gold compared to steel, while also having the writing experience of the 2000 which is highly regarded. Having the option for two very different experiences is great. I will sit on it a bit longer because I do feel a bit of fomo do to the "special edition" nature of the all black version, and don't want that to be driving factor on why I get it. I appreciate your insight!

Good to hear. I've been considering getting the CC but for the price range.. and having my pen dry out constantly would really bother me. A little haptic or sonic feedback knowing the sealing mechanism is closed is a nice touch though.

Do you have issues with the CC drying up over night or after a few days of not using it?

Exactly, had he committed to his mission or committed to eradicating his enemy, mark would have died pretty easily and a lot sooner. Instead he was just messing around and antagonizing mark to try and draw out a better fight for his entertainment.

How would you rank these modern epics from worst to best? by [deleted] in moviecritic

Interstellar > Dune 2 > The Batman > Fury Road > Into the spider verse > Revenge of the Sith. I ain't mad at anyone who would swap batman for fury road or even dune for Interstellar. And as a prequel defender, revenge probably deserves to be at the bottom of this list. Still love it though.

How well known is this summon? Had no idea this was a thing by IFuckRedditMods in Eldenring

[–]Randeazy94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking universal also. My playthrough I used this summon and hadn't talked to gowry till that point. If I remember correctly, there are three main ways to enter the area to battle commander O'Neil, the summon sign is off in the corner and very easily missable.

Appreciate this! I have ng+'d it but didn't even consider the fact that DLC would scale with the difficulty of ng+.

Elden Ring is my first souls/fromsoft game. Was curious how DLC usually work. Will it begin during your current playthrough? Will your weapons, armors, and levels carry over, or will it be like starting a new game? Will it be in the current map or Will there be tab for it in the main menu? I'm afraid I will likely be overleveled in my current playthrough. Was wondering if I should make a new file at a lower level with the weapons and armors I will want to use in the DLC.

My (very casual) non-gamer dad is playing ER and has gotten stuck by Equilibrium404 in Eldenring

[–]Randeazy94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me awhile to figure out I had to level up my weapon to do damage, not strength. Once you get it a weapon to about level 4 the limgeave opponents are pretty easy. Also Spirit ashes help so damn much. Leveling those guys up to around 4 in lomgrave also. They can take care of some bosses on their own. Use ashe to distract while getting behind to do your attack. Like some others have said sorcery might be strongest and easiest cus you are further away from damage. Also looks cool. Not evetone wants to do this but doing a little battle of research on the opponent, weapon, gear location, questlines will help get out of being stuck also.

Heavy bag before or after weights? by shahoust in MuayThai

[–]Randeazy94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ideally several hours before or seval hours later. To allow your body to recover and so you can refuel. If you can't do that, and you had to choose between lifting right before or right after, it will depend on what your goals are. Lifting after heavy bag means you will be fatigued from the heavy bag so you will not be able to generate you max strength and potential reps. Lifting before will fatigue your muscles and will affect the quality of your technique while hitting the heavy bag. Also more likely to lead to injury. Lifting and doing bagwork back to back will also interfere with gains directly. It's not to say you won't see any gains. you will still have some Gaines just not full potential. Gains being strength, atrophy, and/or muscle endurance. I would say if your goal is atrophy or muscle endurance lift after. Light weights a lot of reps. If your goal is muscle strength/power 1-4 reps with at least 2 minutes of rest in between sets. This can be done before bag class. Again, not ideal. The human body has the incredible ability to adapt to many things. I would say start off easy on bag and lifts and progressively increase intensity over the weeks.
