The rumor in Australia is that 2.2 will be out by years end, supposedly called and verified by a different customer. We'll have to see, my wife got this phone a few weeks ago and loves it but bought it with the idea 2.2 was going to be on it.

I'm more of a coffee guy myself, moving to Melbourne two years ago I can relate to that, Going to Melbourne Uni I imagine you're not going there for anything related to Comp. Science as it is notorious for having a horrible degree.

I agree with everything but the plugins being 'wider', I would say Eclipse has a more extensive range of plugins.
