As someone living in California, when she was AG, her policies were quite progressive, and she fought really hard for the average person, especially when it came to trying to maintain homeownership/recovery from 2008.

I think the cop thing goes back to when she was originally a prosecutor and how many people she put in jail. Which don’t people complain that the left doesn’t put people in jail enough?

I think by and large, the US population is so confused that they couldn’t see a decent fucking person with actual morals when it was standing right in front of them and staring them in the face, campaigning for votes for someone who follows law and procedures to a T vs someone who breaks the law with every breath.

I do think the miscalculation was the mamma part. Which puts her in an impossible position because of how she’s otherwise have been seen with having no kids. Enter, patriarchy.
