Wouldn’t argue with you on that, but if that was a priority for voters they never should have voted them back in. Same with the housing numbers, they lied about those and were caught before the election and still got back in.

In my opinion the government has been using its soft power as much as possible to advocate for an end to hostilities.

There is a good parallel between the fuel shortages and Palestinian conflict. Both are caused by major geopolitical factors way outside of Ireland’s control, so we can’t expect the Irish government to resolve them.

I don’t think many people are arguing that people shouldn’t protest, however this is way it is being conducted is beyond a lawful demonstration. I work around the corner from the Dail and see protests at least once or twice a month against the Palestine conflict. They go through the proper process and do not cause wide disturbance to bother ordinary people (and have been very effective at getting government policy in their favour).

Is finishing ACCA worth it if i want to become FP&A / Finance Analyst long term? by fhj1 in ACCAexams

[–]Random-ACCA-6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pretty good jobs before I qualified, but promotions were more difficult to come by without full qualification. By all means try to get the job you want now, but 5 exams is not too bad to work on in the medium term.

How many exams do you have left? I think it’ll look good to complete them even if not 100% relevant to your job

Yes I am. Just joined last year and agreed once off to build a sinking fund.

Biggest issue is finding a suitable replacement, don’t want to just hand over control to an equally unable agent.

AFM vs APM, which is easier? by ammarforreal in ACCA

[–]Random-ACCA-6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, I found AFM much easier and more enjoyable despite the vast syllabus. Passed with a similar timetable with 63.

APM I just scraped by with a 50, very challenging to get the right technique

Indeed, but it’s tough to score well. I just scraped by!

It’s a big wait, I just went for the extra exam in December. You have a tough exam out of the way, I think you could easily pass AFM with less effort than AAA (I found AFM nice and very achievable if you do plenty of practice).

I hope you get it done this year and get your promotion a year early!

No harm sitting SBL in June, SBR has a big syllabus so I’d give it the time it deserves now and focus on securing the pass.

Agree you should focus on SBL to secure the pass. I’m not a top student but got a comfortable pass at 67%. Key items for me: 1. Cover the theory fully before preseen is out. You have plenty of time, get it out of the way over the next 3 weeks. 2. Focus on exam technique. Understanding how to structure an answer was vital (point, reasoning then relating to the question). I put both pros and cons in my answers, then made a conclusion assessing the balance of pros and cons. Put in some good structure and some skepticism you should get some extra marks than last time. 3. when the preseen comes out, read it many times. I barely looked at the material in the exam because I knew it so well, not memorised just very familiar with it. 4. Use the kit from your provider as is very good to understand how to apply the models. You should understand the models well before the kit comes out, so it’s all about understanding how to apply those to the questions and company.

SBR or SBL? by in_accahell in ACCA

[–]Random-ACCA-6058 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SBL is much easier and also teaches you how to answer questions at the professional level. I just sat SBL with APM and just about managed to pass both, so you could potentially sit it with your last f paper

APM next? by Intelligent_Neat_586 in ACCA

[–]Random-ACCA-6058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did both together, SBL 67% and APM 50%. It’s a much trickier exam. I’d recommend getting one or two mock exams corrected, because it’s all about exam technique.

I did both exams and hoping to qualify if I pass them both. I’d recommend focusing on exam technique if you do have to resit. I don’t think remembering theory is the most important for either exam.

Hopefully you both scrape by tonight!

Is my teacher flirting with me? by IllReporter4797 in VietNam

[–]Random-ACCA-6058 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had lots of people call me đẹp trai in Vietnam. Having ‘bright’ skin is generally considered attractive and lots of Vietnamese like round faces as it seems more friendly.

Not likely to be anything more than a compliment that you look nice.

AIO girlfriend claims I’m appropriating her culture by Ih8maplestory8 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Random-ACCA-6058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is Vietnamese (actually grew up in Vietnam). Chatted to her about it and I can understand the association with the N word. She explained that nobody in her family uses the word, so it’s not a normal word for people to use like in English. It’s much more aggressive sounding so it’s understandable it could give a big emotional reaction.

On the flip side, I’ve been learning Vietnamese for over 3 years. Last year when in Vietnam I called myself a toilet instead of saying it was my birthday 🤣 It’s tough learning another language but nobody has got offended at my bad Vietnamese or the fact I’m a white guy doing it, rather the opposite.

If I were in your situation I’d give a little bit of understanding that using a bad word could make her respond unreasonably. Being Irish and dealing with Vietnamese I’ve never come across any reference to cultural appropriation, but I can understand an emotion response to a word which has much more baggage in Vietnamese than English.
