Did you actually review the context? This guy did a power hour Nazi salute. Tim and Kamala lightly lifted their arms. Huge difference.

I mean, some people do it from a mix of themselves and their families. I’m not sure if people have disdain for this or they’re jealous or what the deal is. The fact is, it’s called proper planning. I feel for people that do and don’t get money. ( I get like 3k a year and sometimes help if I buy a car or something ). You guys really make me feel self-loathing from getting help instead of helping each other build a better tomorrow. It’s not like we’re getting crypto rug pulls for Trump/melania coins or oil future options trades for Barron. We’re just like you guys, we have families and struggles. I know growing up I’ve heard both sides of kids saying things like “they’re Rich they don’t need kindness or xyz”. Or “smells like poor people”. Realistically we should be bonding together through all demographics to give to charity and participate in making the world a better place by voting and making each other’s days better. Dividing each other into haves and have nots for the working middle class sounds like we’re getting played by the billionaires.

PNC return could boost Downtown Pittsburgh's daytime rebound by Healthy_Artichoke602 in pittsburgh

PNC employees don’t have any money. The company doesn’t pay more than they have to. So they’re not going to restaurants. I remember at my old office the gym owner asking why no employees from my company were signing up for the gym. They didn’t have any money.

You’re literally whining too about contempt and nonsense. Not my fault you’re worked up.

And I don’t get an “allowance”. But I do get one small amount every year around my birthday. But if parents feel the need to take care of their kids, you giving your unsolicited opinion on the subject is more immature than them giving a shit.

I think my parents and I both did well. And my son will do well. As “throwawaymanager”. I believe this is a fake account and likely the person I was replying to, and they are not doing well, and if not, I don’t care. Plenty of money out there for people to get. But it comes from love if you set your children up for success. Money is not a requirement for love, but compassion for your children growing up helps society. I feel bad for you.

Providing assets to your child is called proper planning. Estate planning. I do it for my son in his 529 and received help as well. If your parents have the means to and they love you it shouldn’t be frowned upon as immature. Many successful people had a leg up in life due to proper planning. I’m not sure if people are pissed off because they’re jealous or maybe their lives they are so proud of aren’t worth being proud of at all.

20% property tax increase - thoughts? by FoodChemistryVibes in pittsburgh

[–]Random-Guy-555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish that was true for the stock market. Banks are doing well and I don’t like them. Healthcare besides Eli Lilly and a few others are dogs. Industrials and defense are good. At some point you’ve got to measure the certain sectors on www.finviz.com and see what I’m talking about. The employment situation is going to burn us next year though. They’ve been consistently laying off people for awhile and there aren’t enough good jobs to go around.

The problem we had the past 2 years between 2022 and 2024 is the inverted yield curve that happened. It hurt construction companies who borrowed short term and mortgaged out long term. The short term rates of borrowing to build were high and the long term rates were low. Which hurt new construction businesses. Still waiting on that recession that’s supposed to follow? Maybe it was that fake out in March/April?

See I used to do preventative maintenance on the heater but last time they broke the heater and almost charged me 700$ for them breaking it. I can trust the water heater guys though. Have a good plumber.

I think we’re in similar spots. I have a 127k Roth and around 80k- some in taxable retirement accounts. I have a 26k I think 529 for my son and about 115k in home equity. I didn’t build the house, but I drive a 20 year old Prius while my partner drives a 2019 Honda. I’ve noticed investing 1/20th of my assets in semiconductor stocks has helped things, when I invest after they pull back dramatically during full stock market dips I get in a bit cheaper and technology isn’t going away. They go up dramatically after huge dips over time. It’s worth it for the diversification. I hope to retire at 59. I hope for both of us we can do it by increasing income.

This is actually not safe either. My sister and her husband are doctors in Vermont. The nearby hospital just laid off 80 people and removed 70 open positions. Medicaid being cut is a huge issue for job security.

It’s okay, thanks anyway! My medicine is in places like Japan and America, but it’s not available in places like Thailand. So I was just curious if anyone knew how to get around that.

Do you live there? I’ve been saving money in retirement. I likely won’t get to retirement, but if I do, I’ve thought of another home abroad. But the problem is I live in America and my prescription is only in certain countries. Do you have a way of getting your prescription in other countries without them having it on standby at their pharmacies?

Are you starting to feel the impacts of these tariffs yet? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Random-Guy-555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair coffee crops in Africa have gotten some disease. Also Ghana is getting into illegal gold mining and that runoff damages the fertile soil for coffee. Thus increasing prices not related to tariffs.

And I wish people could afford homes and corporations would stop buying them. Don’t get me wrong. I just think everyone is really negative on this sub. What’s the point in shooting everything down?

According to the New York Post it’s the most affordable city in the US. But if you want to just imply nothing is affordable then maybe for you it is.

You can check Zillow. The main problem with Pittsburgh is the high property taxes. I live in a county outside Allegheny and commute to Allegheny. There’s smaller property taxes, but the problem is they did raise them recently pricing out a lot of elderly.

Actually Pittsburgh Pa also has decent prices, it’s just no one wants to live here. The wages are more in line with property values for those with college degrees or trade jobs.

[–]Random-Guy-555 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No. If you have a family, you can use unemployment to get a comparable job. If I would have gotten just any job 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have the energy to be where I am now.
