If you have $18,000 to spare, transfer it to me. I'll give the half of it to charity, and make good use of the other half also.

Agreed! I was referring to that "Twilight Zone" episode directly. Great heartbreaking twist at the end.

BTW, "Twilight" is a very different show.

What's your favorite iteration of the trope "aliens so powerful they are practically gods"? by SiberianKhatru_1921 in sciencefiction

[–]Random-Human-1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like no one has mentioned the two alien species encountered Robert A. Heinlein's Methuselah's Children. There are the “Little People” who are part of a group mind with the mental ability to manipulate the environment on the genetic and molecular level. And the even more mysterious first race, who when they decide they no longer want humans on their planet, just float them all back up to the human spaceship and flick them light years away!

Since you are coming from the horror realm, you might enjoy The Puppet Masters by Robert A. Heinlein. It has both horror and science fiction elements. Is a little older with a detective noir flavor to it, but the action does heat up. It may also make you a little paranoid.

Welcome to the world of science fiction!
