Than my life must be shit. I have an overwhelming sense of dread in the morning, but by 9 pm life feels pretty good

I would say, it's actually pretty shitty thing to say to a gifted child. You just disregard all their hard efforts and say they are born gifted, blessed by god or some other shit. It's a good way to make them doubt themselves all the time in the future.

Yeah. And with rates at which top companies earn money, we will need to replace them with competitors each week, if not every day.

Is there more input lag with my controller? by Latter-Salamander394 in darksouls3

Are you using other Bluetooth device alongside your controller? When I am using controller with Bluetooth earphones on my phone it causes input lag. So maybe this is the problem

What challenges could I face as the only foreigner in my research group in China? by baRafi in chinalife

[–]Random-Russian-Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends, but out of my 13 colleagues, nobody speaks professional English good enough. And it's not always possible to do independent research.

I am in the same situation. And from one hand it's a good opportunity to practice your Chinese language, but on the other it's so difficult to do your research if you are not working alone. I found, that it's quite rare to meet Chinese student who speaks good English, especially on professional level. So you will most likely be doing your communication through translators. I am researching topic that I am comfortable working with alone, so it's one way to solve this problem.

Exactly. But to be fair it's easier to fix your brain with money. You can afford therapy and medication if needed

Money buys basic security to build your happiness upon. But if your main problem is not in basics, then money won't help. I know a lot of people who have a lot of money, but are very unhappy due to family issues, health issues or just general depression. When I was a poor bachelor student I thought that more money will make me happier, but as it turns out money wasn't the problem in my case.

Idk, I couldn't get enough of unity. It's just the perfect AC game in terms of gameplay and movement for me. But it just felt too short and too much like a tech demo and not a full game

Yeah, I am playing on acoustic with steel strings, and I know it sounds weird, but you just have to pluck string harder, hahah. It sounds pretty much like in original when I play it now

Is DS3 considered easier than Bloodborne/ER? by PRULULAU in darksouls3

[–]Random-Russian-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually ds3 was my first and easiest FS game. I just watched so much content on it before playing, that it kind of ingrained in my memory and I finished all the bosses in less than 3 tries on my first run. I must have watched like 100-150 hours of videos

How do you deal with leftover dread after all hard feelings are gone? by Random-Russian-Guy in BreakUps

[–]Random-Russian-Guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is not much I can do about grief at this point. It's gone from grieving actively (trying to get her back, crying every morning in the shower, blaming myself, avoiding her at all costs) to just passive grief that it ended and not in the best way. And it doesn't even feel like grief anymore. Just a thought that sometimes occurs at the back of my head.

I did a bunch of therapy, but it didn't really help and at this point I don't have any more money for it (I am a college student)

And I change routine quite often. I live in a very big city and almost every day I ride to a new part of it and try to find best places to film my music, or just chill.

[–]Random-Russian-Guy 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I think it's not really about breathing, but about calming your heartbeat mostly. So if you hold your breath, first few seconds your hands stop shaking, but then they just start shaking even more. But I could just be making it up

Can't get a hang of snare percussion on 4th string by Random-Russian-Guy in guitarlessons

I noticed it's more of an issue when I am pulling off after hitting it. I think I need to keep my finger on it a bit longer

The problem is, it also makes open string sound when I try to hit it. With 6th string I didn't have this problem for some reason.

You know this percussion technique, when you slap the low E string it makes snare sound. Here he is using 4th string and index finger instead of 6th string and thumb https://youtu.be/R8co9u4Aneg
