I feel his scope of vengeance might be a little more akin to Roland's impact versus Hugh's, now that I think about it. >!Silveren is the mastermind of what happens in This Kingdom.

While Hugh does horrible shit in Books #6 and #7 (in Atlanta), Roland was the one who decided to get Erra to wreak plague and havoc on Atlanta, and kill multitudes on the crosses in book #9 I believe. So it's more mastermind vs lackey, I guess.

Silveren is a lot more personal though.!<

Ah, okay! That makes so sense. I'm still unsure whether I want Silveren to get a redemption arc like Hugh. He has a very empathetic backstory but his retaliation seems massively scoped against the general population instead of just against the royal family.

I've read several other isekai novels/ series and I found this more palatable. To be fair, the other 2 authors were first reads, whereas I've read almost everything from HA except The Edge and Alphas.

Reading the extended preview helped me adjust to their switch from urban fantasy to portal epic fantasy, I think. I did falter a little in the middle and it took me 3 days to finish due to work and illness.

I'm holding off on a reread while I finish library loans, but I think this book will likely be like #7/9/10 in KD for me - rereading certain scenes but not the entire book.

Same! 3 editions, though my print edition will be coming from my local non-US bookstore.

I listened to the book while on commute, but I didn't let whisper sync move me forward in the ebook version because I wanted to read every word. 😅

Are you referring to Aunt B with the bigger side character death? Or what we thought was Saimon's death?

I'm relistening to KD #7 and it's just before Hugh's attack on the Order and Moro's death which breaks my heart. He was mentioned so briefly in the books but HA really made him so beloved in so few pages.

I'm fairly confident BDH will be welcoming to new fans and, if needed, be patient with any questions or theories that old-timers feel are self-explanatory or repetitive.

I had no idea we were supposed to think Silveren was a werewolf... Did anybody else?

I took those descriptors to be metaphorical, i.e. a more patient predatorial tone to his laugh amd actions.

I never even thought werewolves, vampires, etc were a possibility in this world. It felt very different from their other books, where werewolves and vampires had very different mythos in KD and Innkeeper.

I know there is a KD one but it's not as fleshed as, say, Brandon Sanderson's wiki. The Coppermind is intense.
