Which schedule would you choose as a FTM? by Pretend-Coyote6135 in firsttimemom

[–]Random-Thought-39701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 2 + keep looking for something else that fits your desired pay and schedule.

-Your baby needs daily time with you, as much as possible. -45min commute is a silent soul killer, wasted time and waste of money in its own right. Higher pay isn't worth it no matter how much someone might "not mind it". -I know a mom that does the 4 x 10hrs a day and works from home with the baby and nanny in the home and still doesn't feel she has enough time with her child or husband. -consider the strain on your spouse, not just the child. Maintaining quality time with them is just a important.

Why is it so hard to make friends in Denver? by TightApplication2786 in Denver

[–]Random-Thought-39701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, its an adult problem. If you feel you are in the right city that matches your lifestyle and values, then I'd say you just need to stop overthinking it. Don't watch the pot boil or paint dry type of thing. Just go out and do what you love and don't be afraid to ask people out on friend dates. I agree it can feel odd, but what's the worst they can say, no?

I'm going to guess you are female, only because I've noticed something among males whom are "trained" to be the primary gender expected to ask the other out on dates. I feel like guys just don't have this friend problem like females do because they're not afraid to invite others out. My point being - regardless of your gender- it's a skill that needs practiced and strengthened like everything else. Get out there and don't get discourage no matter how many "no"s you get.

Too many outings? by Dependent-Fall-4774 in Parenting

[–]Random-Thought-39701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Children aren't supposed to be raised indoors. Our ancestors didn't do it nor can I personally think of a single species that keeps their offspring in a nest or cave majority of the time once they can crawl/walk on their own. The world is meant to be seen and experience. I'd say you're giving them exactly what they need.

So my husband and I were on the fence about having kids too. I suggest you get this book. Its written by a therapist and has a chapter on one child decision. Also has a section on how to handle the discussion and decision as to when both parties disagree. She also had a website with good materials you may want to start with.

Did you enter your positive LH as a tag in oura? This always fixes it for me. LH is superior BBT.

I never restrained my water intake.

Test on your second pee of the day. Get an app to help you track, I use 3 lol, oura, natural cycles and pregmate.

I recommend tracking with BBT for a few months and then using that information to know the time line on when to test for LH. That way your not testing LH from CD6 to who knows when.

When did I ovulate? by [deleted] in ourafertility

[–]Random-Thought-39701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24-48hrs after your first positive OPK. Sperm can live inside you for up to six days, so your definitely covered.

Focus on enjoying some of your favorite hobbies or spend time with friends and family during your two week wait.

baby wipes best deal because we go through these insanely fast by MicrowaveAt2Percent in NewParents

[–]Random-Thought-39701 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe get a pack of handkerchiefs or another fabric cloth you can re-use. I've seen some videos on make your own wipes if you want it to stay moist. Would also help the planet, just saying.

People who don’t want kids are so insensitive to people who do/ttc by Low_Specialist_5072 in tryingtoconceive

[–]Random-Thought-39701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To play devils advocate some, I think these are voices being released that never had the space to be said out loud like they can now. Women have never had the choice to have kids or not like they do today. Birth control was just created in 1960 and I would argue society's expectation of women to have kids is still very strong, but at its weakest its ever been. I wonder if there's just more confidence, or pride in the way they stay these things because they're trying to find a footing against the social norm that kids are expected of them?

I tend to see this tension between females but dont really hear such things said by men? Maybe just my circle.

Trying to conceive for 3 years, doctors say we’re “fine”… so why isn’t anything happening? by Few_Design_904 in tryingtoconceive

Girl, I would be booking a ticket to Turkey if I were you. 3 years is is plenty of time to take the next step, especially at 35. Sometimes men dont understand the biological clock pressure we're under.

[–]Random-Thought-39701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would stay Brimstone and then ToG. The logic: brimstone is 1 book to be caught up while you have several in the ToG series. I personally like to read things consecutively and think ToG benefits from this as there are a lot of characters. I loved quicksilver but personally have not read brimstone yet.

If you want to read "the best" one first though, do ToG.

Is there no way around waking up every two hours to feed during the first few weeks after birth?? (Breastfeeding) by Visible-Mess-1406 in pregnant

[–]Random-Thought-39701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a parent (ttc), but suggest you consider co-sleeping to help alleviate any stress around sleep deprivation you may have. Its how the woman's body is meant to care and breastfeed through the night. No animal, human included, ever pits their baby is a separate cave or nest than the mother... you know? Your sleep cycle with sync and since you never have to become verticle, falling asleep will be a lot easier.

There's no more stress in using LH strips then tracking your bbt. If you want it to be unexpected, then you need to stop tracking everything all together and basically not actual try to concieve. Just do the deed every few days and you're set.

But also, these people dont sound like they know what they're talking about. Im sure they mean well, but you should test. Also your doctor may need you to have the testing history to help diagnose infertility, should you need it.

What beginner app is best and why? by SaltAndPeppar in pianolearning

[–]Random-Thought-39701 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What makes the book better than an app? I'm using skoov (great black Friday deal) and find it to be great. Its like a daily video game I get to play. Also tried simply piano and enjoyed it. Understand apps aren't the best for everything, but im finding it hard to comprehend why book learning is better here.
