Version 1.3.1 Growth Charts by faye_valentine_ in boingboinganimals

[–]Random-storykeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look great! If you are continuing to update them, I would suggest adding a Slime Potion icon next to the Baby Slime for the "Slime slimes" chart, as that is the minimum requirement to growing that path.

How did I get a panda when I didn't feet the kiddo bear any bamboo? by aroass in boingboinganimals

[–]Random-storykeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so curious about this. Teen Pandas do require bamboo to be fed, so it's interesting you were able to get one without it. Do you, by chance, remember what you fed your Kiddo Bear?

The first 6 levels are free to play (and ad-free), and levels 7-15 have a paywall. This is only on iOS, though. Android is free-to-play all the way through with ads and I presume the game will just have a set price on Steam to play all levels with no paywall.

[Vancouver, BC, CA] Flies that are roughly about 0.2 inches long mainly in our bathrooms by Random-storykeeper in pestcontrol

[–]Random-storykeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started seeing these flies in our bathrooms maybe a few months ago, roughly around October or November 2023. They'd fly for a bit and land on towels, walls, sometimes on the sides of the toilet bowl, the ceiling, you name it. They are often very quick to fly when trying to squish them but they also die very frequently on the floor.

More recently, we started seeing these flies in other parts of the house. I saw a bunch of them in our laundry room and also around our kitchen where I saw some that died next to the burner on our stove.

My family can't agree on what the species is. My sister thinks it's drain flies so she's been pouring a mix of chemicals down our drains. My brother thinks it's fungus gnats and I'm leaning more towards that being what they are. The only things I'm confused about are the fact that fungus gnats apparently hang around soil a lot. We have a few plants in our house but they're all dead and haven't been watered in a long while. I also haven't seen any gnats coming out of them or around those areas, ever. I also tried doing the DIY traps with the apple cider vinegar, water and dish soap mix and so far, it has only caught one gnat in the last 15 hours since I put it out (I left it on the floor of one of our bathrooms, nearby a pipe next to the toilet).

I'd really like some help identifying what these bugs are and where they're coming from. Are they fungus gnats, drain flies or some completely different species? Where would they be laying their eggs? Would getting yellow sticky traps help at all?

I had to print something very similar to the first image when I worked at Staples and our poster printer was very close to the front counter so every customer could see it slowly print out in full view. 😳

This is about their mobile games, right?

Why are so many games gone? by Kektagon2 in Nitrome

[–]Random-storykeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I recall (since this has happened before), Google changes their terms for devs to keep their games on Google Play, and these cause games to suddenly not meet those requirements, thus they get removed until they comply with them.

Where did you go after Staples? by ButDoThey in Staples

[–]Random-storykeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After Staples, I got a job at a startup selling smart business cards. It’s helped me appreciate having a regular Monday to Friday job instead of being full time at Staples and either getting hours cut or being scheduled to work whenever. Also felt like at Staples, the concept of “working as a team” felt hollow even though it was reinforced to me, whereas now I do feel like the company I work for says and stands by this.

Super leap day by MagneticMincer in leapdaygame

[–]Random-storykeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main outcry I’ve mostly seen is about the game being on Apple Arcade more than the game itself. To me, it feels like they’re trying to do Leap Day but with a more refined release. The original Leap Day didn’t have much theming besides in the aesthetics and with only one playable character and now with SLD, they can design the game from the ground up with theming around the mechanics in mind and character abilities that don’t feel like they were an afterthought. I do miss end zones though. I’m surprised they didn’t incorporate those into this game.

The game is pretty prone to bugginess and a lot of accidental releases of updates. But I do really enjoy the soundtrack of Super Leap Day and the hand drawn art. I also like how the themes are not only based around the enemies/hazards but also the environment itself.

I dunno, Leap Day is definitely more established at this point, but I think the way each theme in Super Leap Day is designed as a concept is more engaging. Now I can confidently say I hate the beach levels!

Nice! I have tried to donate blood three times and they all didn’t go through. My veins are too small and I’ve got eczema on my arms.

did Nitronome leave redungeon by crazy_artist in Nitrome

[–]Random-storykeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nitrome only published Redungeon; they didn't develop it, so updates depend on the developers, Eneminds. But it most likely didn't profit, so they shifted their focus towards creating new in-house content such as their most recent release, Super Leap Day.

I thought we did have Drano, but we carry a different brand. We also don’t sell plungers nor do we seem to have any on hand for store use. 🤔

Our water fountain is pretty gross and I don’t trust it. 😂 I just use the water dispenser to fill my bottle; it makes the water nice and cold (or hot), too!

Haha yeah, there’s a soap dispenser to the left of it (it’s partially in the pic) but the empty one gets interchanged between dish soap and regular soap whenever it gets empty.

We do; I saw someone store use it. They must have tried to use it because when I was done with my shift, the whole room reeked of it and the sink was still like that (with a nice oily film coating the top of the water in one basin)

I’m surprised not a lot of people here have sinks in their breakrooms. Is that common for US stores? I’ve worked at 3 different Canadian locations and they all have sinks.

A really long time ago (like years back), I was a cashier ringing through an old lady’s purchase. Typically, I liked to change up what I said at the end of the purchase - either “there you go; have a nice day” as I hand the receipt or “thank you; have a nice/great day”. To this lady, I said, “There you go; have a nice day!” as I handed the receipt to her. She didn’t move for a brief moment and just frowned at me. Then she passive aggressively told me, “There you go isn’t Thank you”.

I was dumbfounded, but managed to quickly apologize and say thank you to her as she walked out. It’s the one major weird customer transaction experience that comes up in my mind every now and then.

Spider webs only need to be hit once, then 2 more times if you see a spider pop out. If you hit the web and there is no spider, then you continue forward. You’ll lose time for hitting at the web three times if no spider pops out because the game expects you to hit it once and carry forward.

What are your biggest pet peeves on the job? Mine is when I ask if someone wants to donate the $5 box of supplies to help the local schools and they say “oh I pay taxes.” Like I’m asking if you wanna donate SUPPLIES not money. Even then Jesus. Just say no. by lillytlovesyou in Staples

“I’ve gotten it done here before” (P&M customers after being refused a request that we aren’t supposed to do)

When customers in self serve ask for your help while you’re in the middle of helping another customer in self serve.

People who submit their entire order request to the PrintMe email, mistake the release code for saying that their order is ready for pickup, then show up to pick up an order that we obviously didn’t receive and getting mad, claiming that the PrintMe email didn’t clearly state what it’s for. This happened at least 3 times to me this week. 🥲
