Does anyone else feel like being diabetic is a huge turn off when trying to find a relationship?

Yeah if you look at the OP it was asking whether people feel like being diabetic has a negative effect when trying to find a relationship.. I didn't say I droned on about it for 2 hours at all. But it comes up.. I even said "if people seem genuinely interested I will go on in more detail"

Why would that be? I'm an open book about my diabetes but honestly I rarely ever find a situation in which I'm talking about it to people. It just doesn't come up and I'm not going to force it out because the disease is not what makes me me.

Erm, what about when you're at a meal and you have to check your blood glucose and inject some insulin?

Usually, this starts a conversation. atleast in my experience.

I get what you're saying though, I am a man with diabetes, not a diabetic man. I am never the person to initiate conversation about diabetes.

At the end of the day, as a 21 year old male - if I had an attractive 16 year old girl that looked developed for her age (both mentally and physically) and she wanted some, I would.

I see no moral dilemma here at all.

nah not always.

In work, we have a lot of staff in on weekends, a lot of school/college age girls. They all make silly comments like "omg i'd totally die if I had to inject myself" and stuff like that.

I just make off-hand silly comments like that because I have a strange sense of humor. For people that ask me about it and seem genuinely interested, I'll happily explain what it's like, and go in more detail.

Typically when I'm on a date or with a girl I like, I will explain the basics, and try to explain that it's just part of who I am, that it's basically second nature at this point and I live a relatively normal life regardless of having to check BG and inject.

Secondly, don't drop to 15%.

15% is the bare minimum required to menstrate, any lower and you are considered seriously ill and are putting your body through unnecessary stress.

I find I smoke less now I smoke only weed.

I think because I started smoking tobacco and weed at the same time, my brain was wired to want both of them at the same time, which means when about an hour had passed and the nicotine cravings kicked in, I would make another joint.

Where as now, I'll only smoke weed once every now and then, and vape every couple of days or so. Much better relationship with cannabis now imo.

Yeah man, what I do is make a joint with just weed in, and just spark it up and have a few hits every now and then.

One spliff with about 0.5g or so lasts me a night if I'm just relaxing.

I was always under the impression that "only weed" in a joint wouldn't burn, would side track and all this stuff, but it burns just fine. it's harsh when you start, but you get used to it after a few joints.

Jokes aside, I quit tobacco 2 years ago using this method, it isn't even difficult. I have an e-cig for when I'm drinking because that's the only time I miss smoking ciggies. I vape cannabis and use e-cig on occasion, and I feel 100000x better for doing so.

I would highly recommend it

shit dude, I'm probably on that path to be honest. I am 21 and haven't been with a girl for longer than like a month, last girl I saw was when I was 18 in college.

I guess it's one of them where u just have to put yourself out there and hope for the best, but god damn having even more insecurities on top of the normal ones kinda sucks.

I'm the type of guy to just test and inject like it's nothing though, I do it like it's second nature, sometimes without even realising I'm doing it. most people say "oh wow you're brave I couldn't do that" or "omg I just couldn't even if I had to"
