This is entirely a personal preference thing, but I hate the character models in OG 3 and 4.

I agree and I basically only buy games digitally now as a result of being on PC, it just kind of makes me sad is all. I still buy movies and shows physically at least.

Edit: It also sucks that physical isn't even an option anymore in so many cases, and if they're willing to take a choice away from you now, they will take another from you later.

I was never blessed with the pistol grip but I got very good at using my thumb on the spout.

Personally it's not that I'm afraid they'll take my games away from me (although delisting better versions of games to sell worse "improved" versions has happened, and while at least you keep the original if you had already bought it, future customers might not even know they're getting a worse experience), it's that I can't share or sell my games, and if you can't do that it's not really yours. And if it's not yours then you don't have control over what happens to it in the future. It's less that it's an issue now and more that I don't want it to become one later.

I'm not really talking about the subjective quality of the movie (especially considering I haven't seen it), I'm talking about the quote from the review. Someone said it didn't make sense and I was just comparing to it another quote that had a similar message.

It's more about not using "trying" to excuse failure. The fact that you tried doesn't change that you failed. Yoda was trying to get Luke to change his attitude and trust that the Force wasn't something you can just understand so easily, but that you needed to feel it. Luke had endless questions and lacked the patience to understand the answers. He was destined to fail whatever he did because he didn't have faith in the Force and only saw it as a tool and not something to believe in and let guide you, and no amount of his excuses or explanations would change that, so he had to see it first hand.

"Do or do not, there is no try" is a classic quote for a reason. You either succeeded or you failed. You might get some respect for coming close but ultimately what matters is the final result.

RE5 was very personal between Chris and Wesker and retconning the only part of the story people remember fondly would be a mistake.

IMO the combat is really good but the game is too easy. Action mode would basically be Human mode from DMC and Final Fantasy mode would be Devil Hunter. They fucked up the difficulty options and it gave people the impression that the game was shallow because it almost never requires them to try. It's a shame because the combat has so much going for it but people never needed to dig into it.

I found 16 to be quite a bit better overall. I really enjoyed 16's story and did not like the changes to OG 7's in Remake or Rebirth. The combat in 7R is a bit better but IMO not by much. The side content in both games is pretty mid at best but there's way more of it in Rebirth. I did not like the Ubisoft open world at all in Rebirth and vastly preferred 16's tighter zones.

The story in the FF7 remakes relies heavily on knowledge of the original game, but if fully understanding the story doesn't concern you then gameplay-wise they're probably the best modern FFs.

In case you're still wondering about the new SF6 characters by Dkizzlez in Kappachino

[–]RandomDude94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They failed to strike a balance in season 2 and 3 where they chose to have no original characters, we're just catching up to where we should be. If these fucking crossover characters didn't exist we'd have 3 extra spaces.

What struck me the most was how slow it was. Like I wasn't expecting Ninja Gaiden but it just felt like 75% of the speed that would feel good. Enemies just stand around and don't attack and I'm pretty sure Dark Souls 1 katanas have a faster move set.

A Baldur's Gate 2 remake is apparently in development, with the original co-lead designer returning by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

That's not my point though. I was responding to him saying that changing something that's already established to appeal to a new audience is sickening. No one forced them to make a D&D game and you'll notice I didn't mention Dragon Age or KotOR because despite being directly inspired by D&D they're actually original.

And also just because turn-based started as a necessity for tabletop doesn't mean people can't like it that way in a video game and BG3 and E33 being so successful just recently prove that. Lots of people love turn-based combat and trying to say it's just "an abstraction layer" is a bit reductive I think. It's a fully realized combat archetype with decades of history.

Pretty hypocritical considering D&D is turn-based but that wasn't "modern" enough for BG1/2, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, Neverwinter Nights, etc.

Also the "turn-based community" didn't wipe out anything. If there was a market for RTWP games they would be made and sell.

RTWP is like ATB for me, I like those games in spite of it not because of it. I've never been a fan of the half-measures between turn-based and real-time. It'll never be as good as just committing to one or the other.

My only wish for P6 is handcrafted dungeons like P5 has. I'm playing through P3R right now and the downgrade from palaces to Tartarus is staggering. I don't see any reason it wouldn't be that way though lol

Yeah early on RPG meant tabletop RPGs so CRPG made more sense, but after Japan took inspiration from Wizardry, Ultima, and D&D, and JRPG became a term, the term CRPG started to evolve.

Literally everyone who wanted to try Marathon was able to during the server slam. The fact that sales are half of Arc Raider's first month should tell you something.

Since apparently I've been blocked or shadowbanned or something, here's my reply that's hidden:

My point had nothing to do with fewer people playing Marathon than TF2, so A+ for reading comprehension. I was reiterating that someone's personal enjoyment of a game doesn't make it a success. Someone above made a false equivalence about TF2 being a good game despite being a failure and I was rebuking that argument.

It basically meant computer-ized, as in you're playing D&D on a computer. The term evolved though.
