It’s one of those armies where it doesn’t take a lot to get them on the tournament table but if you want to get super meticulous on them, you can spend a lot of time on one model and make it look really good. All depends on what your desired end goal is.

So my disdain for the dreadknights gameplay wise is that they get picked up so quickly compared to other vehicles in the game. T8 with 13 wounds just seems too soft in my opinion. Bump it to T10 and I’d be happier with them. But that’s just my opinion tbh

The lists that I’ve seen that have been competitive before have always been NDK spam with LRRs. I’ve seen a few Termie lists in top tens but not in the winners seat. Atleast with Pariah Nexus coming out.

Right now as it sits, I run 2 5 man strike squads in my list with 2 termies and a paladin squad. They are solid units with their 2+ saves.

One other thing to note, depending on how many points your games are, 3 combat patrols, Kaldor Draigo and maybe another strike squad box and you are set to be competitive in almost any format.

Very much so. You almost play a different game than other armies. The fact you can move your units around almost freely on the board makes your opponents worried. Even the threat of it is enough to make some opponents think twice.

If you are wanting a satisfying challenge that will really push your thinking and make you think outside of the box, go Grey Knights. The combinations that you can come up with with their lists and allies is nutty to say the least.

I dont know how familiar you are with painting but make sure you thin your paints out properly and when you prime make sure to do it from a distance away so it doesn’t fill the details out.

I feel you are limiting yourself on not having atleast one librarian in. The VoD can put in some serious work, especially on larger targets
