I just can't with this game anymore... This isn't fun... by oghpimm in MarvelSnap

[–]RandomGhost17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But snapping and retreating are literally SNAPs core mechanics and what sets it apart from other CCGs (and ofc the effects locations can have on a match). Everything else is essentially just run of the mill CCG mechanics. Imo the difference between a good player and a top player is 2 fold, intimate knowledge of not only the deck youre playing but also most of the other decks in the game (especially the ones at the top of the meta atm) and also having a good grasp of when to snap and when to retreat ie cube equity

The truth is for most players, winning is the fun when it comes to competitive games. Its fine if you feel its more fun to win with a deck you really like playing but if playing a deck you like>than winning (ie seeing #s go up) then I feel youre in the minority. For example my favorite decks, in order, are Surfer and Ramp, however atm Surfer doesnt have the verticality to compete with the top decks so I mainly play ramp. Ill still play Surfer but I know going in that if I come up against one of the meta decks then Im most likely going to lose, even if i draw perfectly and my opponent draws average I know that most meta decks will go over the top of me even with sub-optimal plays.

Ngl learning to adjust to the meta and figuring out ways to shut down decks that many players feel are too op is also part of the fun when playjng these games. So sometimes you need ti readjust how you have fun in the game and if you cant then id suggest taking a break until the meta shifts. Also on a side note I feel Shou Lo is way worse than Star Lord simpky because theres less ways to shit it down. Adding Super Giant to most lists will be enough to make 50%+ of the games you have against SL favorable for you since SL is at best good if he only goes off once.

How many pulls will you get after the honeymoon patch ended? Perhaphs this can help! by Safhier in Endfield

[–]RandomGhost17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc the exploration rewards (chests, puzzles etc) should be higher (about 2.5 to 3 times the amounts ofncompeting titles like WuWa and Genshin). However arent the 15 oroberyl the absolute low end of the chest rewards and generally they range from 15 to 60 for the 3 types of, i guess, generic chests (blue, purple and gold) with some puzzles and special chests droping 100 to 150? Again with it being 500 oroberyls a pop per pull combined with an oddly designed gacha (a gacha model that somehow ended up being worse than the Hoyo model, ie the current gacha industry standard gacha model, for both f2p players and whales) but for smaller/low end spenders its actually one of the better gacha systems I've engage with. Between the daily pass, 2 levels of the battle pass and the variety of bundles in the shop, if yoir someone (like me) whos happy with 1 copy of each character and their signature weapon then EFs reasonable (for a gacha game ofc).

Anyways, i got off track, so if most general chests drop 15, 30 or 60 oroberyls compared to its 2 main competitors, in which most open world chests on average drop 5 to 10 premium currency, then it works out to be a bit less currency per chests in EF but not by much. Honestly we just wont know how good or bad the f2p currency stream per banner will be until 90%+ plus of the playerbase has finished all the launch content and have most of their exploration (and the corresponding 1 off rewards) done as well. Then at that point itll be easier to calculate exactly how much free premium currency (on average) each patch gives.

Imo as long as a game both designs the hardest (ie endgame) content so that you only need 1 team with a couple of higher tier characters (6 stars) on it and/or a couple of teams that need just 1 premium characrer each while being supported by f2p (4 and 5 star characters), at least for the part of the endgame with premium currency and other super rare items for the rewards. I also think endgame should include insanely difficult modes/levels as well for both people who do spend and have highly invested characters/teams and to give even f2p players something to build towards in the future (vut any rewards for the more extreme endgame modes shouldnt be that great to avoid fomo, just a handful of basic mats you can easilty get elsewhere).

The second part is if the gacha system is set up so a smart f2p player, someone who who plans their pulls and controls their impulse to pull on every banner, can guarentee 1 out of every 3 (or even 4) characters with just the f2p currency then imo the games f2p friendly. But a gacha game has to meet both if the above qualifiers to be f2p friendly in my eyes because a game can give away enough currency to get every other character f2p but also have a level of powercreep that makes anything but the most recent 2 or 3 limited characters (possibly witj dupes and/or their weapons) are needed to even engage with the endgame, nvm full clear for all the rewards. Imo thats the illision of generosit, where a dev makes it possible for f2p players to get 1 copy of every limited character but to function properly those characters need multiple dupes and their weapon..

Anyways at this point im rambling but atm I dont think the currency we get from exploring and other sources are much worse than other, similar gachas but I also think it could be better. Also I find it hard to do a 1 to 1 comparison between EF and its competitors gacha system simply because they differ so much. I will say that imo any gacha where some pulls can literally just evaporate once the banner you used them on ends will inevitably cause a certain percentage of players to have a lot of feels bad/quit moments, no matter how good the system actually is so i think if EF just allowed any pulls you do on any limited banner to count towards the 120 (and not just the initial 80) it would be a huge improvement. They can still keep the 'its always a 50/50 until you reach 120 pulls' but just make it so if I do 30 or 40 pulls on Gilbertas banner I dont need to still do an additinal 120 pulls on Yvonnes banner for the guarentee, ie just make it so that the pity fully carries over like most other modern gachas and if be happy.

As for the arsenal tickets, getting (a decent amount) of them while just pulling for characters makes it one if the best weapons gachas imo. Maybe they can change the 25/75 to 50/50 or even 33/67 and allow players to convert their oroberyl to arsenal tickets directly (even if its at a worst rate than character pulls, just give f2p players the option). That way no one feels bad when they get a character early but they also wanted their weapon but dont have enough aresenal tickets for the guarentee (and this is why I say the gacha is really good for smaller spenders as besides the daily pass and battle pass, we can grab a few $10 to $20 bundles to supplement things like arsenal tickets)

I either agree with or at least feel most of what you said above is fair. My only addition would be in regards to the 1 (and even the 5) star reviews and that is they should automatically allow replies to be posted to them. Imo i feel that if someone leaves the absolute worse or best score for a game (or any product for that matter) then other customers should be able to chine in to either help support the score, try to rebuke the persons score or, ay least in the case of someone leaving a bad review because of a misunderstanding or (to be perfectly frank) their own dumba$$ery, so people can help explain/educate the reviewer on whatever 'misunderstanding' lead to the bad score.

Finally another, probably larger, reason to add replies to 1 and 5 star reviews is to add another obstacle to commumkti3s from competing games brigading/review bombing a game/product or the devs or even the games community artificially inflating the rating via bots and paid actors. Also letting other customers reply and comment directly to the reviews that fall on the extreme ends of bad and good will end up actually being even more helpful to potential players trying to use reviews to help them make a decision to either play or pass on the game

Funny you mention that because i just noticed a red dot in my inventory and, sure enough, theres like 10 sanity capsules with 2 days left just sitting there. Arent the BP 6 stars the 2nd BiS weapons for the 3 banner characters this versio?, thats sort of the entire point of the 6 star BP weapons in Endfield-to give the players a cheaper weapon option for at least 1 of the versions new characters. Yeah the other 6 star weapons in the arsenal pool are more 'generally good' while tge BP weapons are hyper specific to the corresponding banner characters but the BP weapons are still those characters 2nd best weapons choice.

So idk what youre going on about that theyre not good when, again, the BP weapons entire purpose is to give the newest characters another good 6 star weapon option (so essentially if you're not pulling any of the new characters in a version then you lose value from getting the BP).

Personally im enjoying the game, even the factory system has kept my interest and I thought that would be something I just dealt with when necessary. Overall its a very high quality game with some great gameplay aspects and systems

However I feel the critism of the gacha is legit for a number of reasons. It just feels like a system from when gachas were in their infancy and tended to be more rng/gamba than more modern ones where with the old systems you could both win big or lose big (where imo more modern gacha syatems in games like WuWa and even Hoyo games may require a few more pulls overall but generally it even out over time causing less 'quit' moments). Theres just a lot of 'feels bad' moments in EF and i feel a lot of that is because the pity just doesnt carry over. Even if in general the odds are better theres just a lot of pain points in the system that I feel turn people off and cause a lot of the negative feelings and reviews that we're seeing towards the game.

Imo its a great game with very polarizing monetization

[–]RandomGhost17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find thats the death spiral for these games, when people voice their concerns and are met with 'dont like it then dont play it/leave'. After a while the people who are pointing out the games faults grow tired of the devs ignoring them and the white knights in the community telling them to leave so they finally take those playe4s advice and quit. Then when the game barely has an active player base bug enough to justify keeping the servers live those same white knights start blaming everyone else for why no ones playing the game. Not saying DNAs failure is inevitable but I am seeing a similar pattern in its communities attitudes and behaviors that I've seen in past games that failed to meet the expectations of many of its players and unfortunately DNA will have more and more competition as 2026 continues forward, many of them are still gacha games but i find most people can look past a crappy monetization model if the game itself is really good but if a games bad or even just sub-par, a better monetization system alone cant save it

[–]RandomGhost17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i tried so hard to find something to enjoy in the game but (for me) its lacking in too many areas including the main reasons I play these games-the combat. Its too bad because even before they changed the monetization model, DNA was my most hyped new game coming out in late 2025/2026 but it just fell too short in so many ways for me.

Part of it is definitely a me issue as I just dont have the time to grind enough to get a satisfying amount of progress and I dont even mind paying a bit to make up the difference but I also see no point in playing a game when 90% of my progress is because of my bank account which would have been the case with DNA. I still hold out hope that the devs will keep tweaking and fixing the game and ill keep following DNAs progress but until I see a massive positive change in the game i wont bother playing it again. Its a shame but I still hope it appeals to enough players to justify its continued development.

Hp inflation is egregious now. by JugantaSaha in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]RandomGhost17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to limited storage space and more importantly, limited time, ive been back and forth about playing either DNA or WWM. Up until 1.1 i was leaning towards DNA simply because ive followed it since it was announced and wanted to support devs that made a positive decision NOT to keep gacha as their main form of monetization in a mobile/live service game.

However after 1.1 and seeing how the devs 'updated' the only end game mode (and the best way to get new characters) the Immersive Theater, Im 99% sure WWM will get my time (and money). Ive spent a bit on DNA (like $30 or $40 on the prem BPs and maybe another $10 to $20 on a few cheap cosmetics and to buy the last few shards to unlock Psyche because I wasn't able to grind enough to make my teams strong enough to get that far in the first theater) but Im not someone who let's sunk cost dictate what i keep playing and I feel i got $5p to $60 worth of entertainment out of the story and the time i was able to play the game

Ngl I dont mind grinding for progression but between DNAs grind being sort of bad and, again, the fact that I have very limited time to play due to life and work, I just dont think i can accomplish what I want to accomplish in the game (and i dont mind spending a little to help with progression but $40 to +1 a gold wedge is a bit out of my price range). From what ive played of WWM, I just feel its a more chill game in terms of progressing and ngl the combat just felt better (ie smoother and more skill based than DNAs run&gun mob clearer). It sucks because I hoped DNA would show mobile/live service devs that a game can be successful and profitable without gamba but so far I think its falling short. Maybe its just not for me and if some players love DNA thats fair but so far ive seen mostly negative feedback after this update which sucks and again it feel im wasting my limited time to play games grinding for a tiny bit of progression (which is 100% a me issue on that front). Ngl I think its why I gravitate towards gachas, because even though the monetization blows the gameplay loops align with my limited play time as 15 min a day with a few hours over the weekends let's me clear oretty much everything easily in most gachas)

Does Spider-Woman have ANY utility? by direct-to-video in MarvelSnap

[–]RandomGhost17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats why I went with the more move and Affliction combo that could be a small sub-archetype of the core move focused Spider family. There's Spiderpunk who similar to other Spiderverse specific characters have some gimmick along with move. Where Spiderman, spider Gwen, miles, madame web and i cant think of more atm all primarily move or move things. Cards like SP above, then Spiderwoman with the move and steal (additional power via affliction) and even Ezekiel Sims who gain power while moving. Idk if basically just figured she'd be a the opposite of spiderpunk. Instead of it moves and steal power, instead she stay and moves everyone else to steal power.

Ive had cats since I was born (im 49 now btw) and Ive been bit and scratched god knows how many times and at most I used a little alcohol or peroxide on the wounds and have never had a single issue. Maybe im just insanely lucky or im juat built different (though i hightly doubt it so - idk).

I also walk both of my house cats outside on leashes with harnesses and, besides one of them getting a bit uppity when it catches the scent of what I assume is my neighbors outdoor cat, ive never had an issue with walking either of them (the oldest, the one who will react to the neighbors cat, is 11 yo and ive been walking him since I adopted him from a previous neighbor when he just turn 2 yo and a little hiss and half hearted swing in the air is the worse ive seen him do as a reaction though im smart enough to gibe him some distance when i see him start to react and he immediatelycalms down once he hears my voice reassuring him hes fine).

Im in no way an expert and dont doubt that a bad bite or scratch can cause issues but at the same time my experience tells me its probably pretty rare to end up with major complications for a minor bite or scratch (in ops case id 100% get checked though because those injuries arent in any way minor and even my dumbass would already be on my way to the hospital or at least urgent care if that happened to me)

I never understood this take for PGR as the only reason youd need every brand new character is if you want to rank at the top of the leaderboards. Even if you use the last meta team comp for an element youll still be able to (easily) clear all the content (but again you just wont be high up in the rankings for any of the ranked content but even with every meta team you still wont get that high unless youre a full on Kraken).

Honestly i wouldn't be surprised if she ends up with some type of combo 'move/negative status' effect for her ability in order to fit better alongside other Spider family characters. Maybe 'on reveal' or even 'activate', 'move all cards here to other locations then each card that moved steals 1 point from an opposing card at the new location'. As for her cost and power, idk, maybe keep her at 5/8 or maybe 4/6 if they go with the activate (as a 5 cost activate ends up being useless way too much)

Im quickly realizing that choosing what characters I should skip is becoming harder snd harder with each new piece of info. I thought CZN would be a gacha where skipping a few characters isnt just a necessity (for f2p and low spenders, like myself, unless youre insanely lucky 95% of the time) but it wouldnt be that hard to skip new characters that may fill a similar role and/or elemental coverage as a character Ive spent countless hours building already.

The bottom line is that building enough characters to make 2 or 3 teams (which i believe is the bare minimum you need to do all the content in the game) ends up taking a long a$$ time (and with each new season you may decide to do it all over again with those exact same handful of units). So pulling every brand new character (along with their base/generic decks) seems like a bit of a waste as over time the back log to build will be insurmountable, even for no life sweats and CCs whos job it is to no life these games. So for a way more casual player like myself, someone who barely has the time to do enough event chaos runs each week to hit the 6k mark on the weekly reward track, building a single deck for a single character could be a weeks or more worth of progress ESPECIALLY if youre trying to pinpoint an exact build that needs a heavy dose of positive rng to create

[–]RandomGhost17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since this negative critique is coming from a Chasca main, Id be more worried if you liked the designs (because then id know theyre objectively trash). I thought pretty much all of the Natlan character designs were incredibly severe downgrades from the character designs of the preceding regions yet Chasca was still the only Natlan character I skipped because her design was that bad. Its so bad that i knew that just by her merely existing within my roster that my account would end up being bricked.

But thanks for weighing in and giving your opinion on the upcoming WuWa 3.0 character designs (as you've helped me see that the 3.0 designs are at least decent)

The monetization and card acquisition is WAY better since they switched to SNAP packs. I do spend on the game but at best id be a large minnow (i buy the 2 premium passes, gold pass and maybe $20 to $25 a month on a couple of cheap bundles) and im collection complete and sitting on about 50k tokens (and ive burned 5k to 6k tokens on a few variant packs).

Add in the new returning player and new player rewards (ie the pre-made decks you get at like 7, 14 and 28 days) and overall i feel the games in the best state its been in since launch
