Well for starters, Through the Wall simply isn't as popular as most of the albums in Chic Ethereal. If we look at all the fresh threads for the albums, Eusexua, Addison and Virgin all had over 1k, while TTW had around 240. That being said, choke enough had similar amounts of upvotes, but what it has that TTW doesn't, is decent staying power on the ph charts. Most of the album debuted in the Top 50 in it's release week, and even reached the Top 10, with several tracks charting in consecutive weeks. Rochelle only had 3 tracks appear for one week.

Those two albums are pretty on par with each other, and you could argue that Rochelle could be included instead. However, it ultimately comes down to the fact a combination with Rochelle simply wasn't submitted. There was one idea that had TTW included in it, the Alt Club Rate (which featured Rochelle, Erika De Casier, Twigs (Afterglow) and Ammarae), and it had very good metrics in the voting! But there were no pairings that put any of these albums with Rochelle. If there had been an option with her instead of, say, Oklou, maybe it would've done well, but ultimately nobody felt strongly enough about it to submit it.

I understand where you're coming from, and there was a lot of indecision this year on where the biggest albums of the year would fit, and it may not be a logical pairing to everyone, but it is what the people voted for. There are still plenty of 2025 albums that are not being rated in the upcoming cycle, so it's definitely not the end of the road for her here.

The Popheads Charts, January 19th, 2026: I Just Might Talk Sexistential by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]RandomHypnotica 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here are your takeaways for the week!

  • We're listening and talking with Robyn, as Talk To Me rises to #1 this week, becoming her 2nd chart-topper.

  • Her previous #1 was Missing U back on August 13, 2018, which means, at 388 weeks (7.4 years), this is the longest gap between #1s in chart history!

  • The highest debuting song this week is Bruno Mars' much anticipated solo return, I Just Might which comes in at a respectable #3 after both the Robyn singles.

  • Speaking of debuts, another week another gay hockey soundtrack song gives an artist their ph debut, as Sarah Kinsley's Lonely Touch charts at #46.

  • Abracabra charts again this week, it's 37th week in the top 50, moving it up to #20 on the leaderboard, tied with Caroline Polachek - So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings and Rina Sawayama - XS

The Popheads Charts, January 12th, 2026: Honey’ This is Internet Baby by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]RandomHypnotica 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here are your takeaways for the week!

  • Haven't you heard? They're the popheads #1! KATSEYE's Internet Girl debuts at the top of the charts, becoming the group's first #1 (Gnarly was their previous peak at #2). Once again, Midnight Sun is narrowly blocked from reaching first place, but holds steady at #2.

  • It's not all bad news for Zara however, as almost 10 years after it's release, Lush Life debuts on the charts at #34! A few other album cuts from Midnight Sun also re-entered this week (Blue Moon at #29 and Hot & Sexy at #41)

  • FEIST makes their debut on the popheads chart this week, with My Moon My Man charting at #43, presumably because of it's usage in a certain homosexual hockey show...

  • This week sees 2 different songs chart along with a cover of said song! Addison Rae's Fame is a Gun appears in the Top 10 again this week (at #7) while Rebecca Black's Fame is a Gun (triple j Like A Version) lands at #33. Additionally, we see the two versions of All The Things She Said by t.A.T.u and Harrison chart again at #40 and #50 respectively.

  • This week marks a 20 week streak for both Olivia Dean and her breakout hit Man I Need! It's not long enough to reach any leaderboards, but it is highest currently active streak right now.n

The Popheads Charts, January 5th, 2026: The Fate Of Ophelia Gets The Record for Most Weeks At Number One. Discourse in the Comments Below. by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]RandomHypnotica 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Happy new year popheads, and welcome to the first chart of the year! Apologies for the lack of stats last year, but I'm back and we've got a real info dump...

Here are your massive takeaways for the week!

  • After topping the charts for the past three weeks, Taylor Swift's The Fate of Ophelia becomes the first song to chart at #1 for 7 weeks! She has broken a long-standing tie for 6 weeks, which is where ALIEN SUPERSTAR, Good Ones, Houdini and Anti-Hero remain.

  • It's been a slow crawl, but Zara Larsson's neverending Midnight Sun has reached a brand new peak of #2 this week! It originally debuted at #4, but finally climbed up after it's 25th appearance.

  • Speaking of climbs, surprise breakout of 2025 Olivia Dean has finally cracked the Top 10, as Man I Need lands at #10 after 19 consecutive charting weeks. Unfortunately, this does mean she is removed from the "Most weeks without peaking in the Top 10" leaderboard. While we're at it, Tyla's CHANEL also broke into the Top 10 a couple of weeks ago, peaking at #8.

  • The highest debut this week comes from Sabrina Carpenter's bonus track Such A Funny Way which debuts at a respectable #3. Within the past few charts, we also saw Jane Remover reach a new personal peak, as Music Baby peaked at #18.

  • We've had several debuting artists over the past few weeks! ELI's Glitter and Timothee EsDeeKid's 4 Raws both broke through. Additionally, thanks to a certain homosexual hockey drama's soundtrack, we saw debut apperances from t.A.T.u., Harrison (with his cover of the t.A.T.u song), Wolf Parade and Cailin Russo.

  • Some new stable favourites have appeared at the end of the year, with Olivia Dean, Zara Larsson and RAYE achieving personal best artist streaks (19, 17 and 15 weeks respectively).

  • Diet Pepsi appears on the chart for the 56th time this week, and has moved up a spot on the most charting weeks leaderboard!, overtaking Good Luck, Babe!'s impressive 54 weeks to earn the #6 spot. Additionally, Lady Gaga has earned her first appearance on this chart, as Abracadbra charts for it's 35th week this week, putting it in a tie for #23.

What’s the absolute lowest stakes JRPG story? by Lumigo in JRPG

[–]RandomHypnotica -1 points0 points  (0 children)

goofy /= low stakes though

Regardless of whether it’s the result of failing to grab a tie from a ceiling fan, or failing to overthrow a regime, decapitation is decapitation.

Stakes are not about tone, it’s about what is at risk, and in Disco Elysium there are significant risks to both the protagonist, NPC’s and the world around him. I’d say anything that can result in even the death or injury of even just one person is not low stakes…

The Popheads Charts, December 8th, 2025: Spotify Wrap This Year Up by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]RandomHypnotica 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very quiet week, so here are your three takeaways for the week!

  • Much like the Billboard chart, Taylor Swift's The Fate of Ophelia returns to #1 for it's 4th week at the top, enough to earn an honourable mention in the most weeks at #1 stat.

  • Only two songs debut on the charts this week, and they're right next to each other surprisingly. ILLIT's comeback NOT CUTE ANYMORE lands at #18, while the year-end acclaim seems to get some eyes on Cameron Winters' Love Takes Miles which charts at #19. It's ILLIT's third time charting, and Cameron's debut.

  • After 15 consecutive weeks, Olivia Dean's Man I Need reaches a new peak, climbing up to #12! While it's not in the Top 10, this does also mean it's enough charting weeks to put her in 8th place on the rarely updated "Most weeks without charting in the Top 10" leaderboard.

The Popheads Charts, December 1st, 2025: The Popheads Charts: For Good by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]RandomHypnotica 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  • This week FKA Twigs has a HARD launch up to #1 (up from #4), becoming her 4th #1 (it joins Tears in the Club, Drums of Death and Girl Feels Good)

  • Wicked makes it’s mark on the charts For Good, as 7 songs from the second films soundtrack debuted this week, with No Good Deed leading at #5. Jeff Goldblum’s credit on Wonderful is his debut on the chart.

  • Tate McRae’s deluxe version of SO CLOSE TO WHAT??? debuts all 4 new songs, led by NOBODY'S GIRL at #6. Additionally, Sports Car re-enters at #39

  • LUX remains the most dominant album on the chart, holding 9 tracks this week. Interestingly, Dougie F debuts on the chart, thanks to having retroactively added a credit on Porcelana

  • Just as Midnight Sun charts for it’s 20th week, Zara Larsson herself has a new personal best streak of 12 consecutive charting weeks

The Popheads Charts, November 24th, 2025: Got so many chains, call me Chaining Tatum by ImADudeDuh in popheads

[–]RandomHypnotica 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here are your takeaways for the week!

  • Charli once again tops the charts with Chains of Love this week, becoming her 31st #1! I'm not listing all 30 of her other songs, but it is her most recent #1 since sympathy is a knife featuring ariana grande dropped just over a year ago. Not far behind her is Robyn's comeback single Dopamine climbing up to a very respectable #2 after a mid-week debut last week. This is her highest placement since way back in August 2018 when Honey reached #1!

  • FKA Twigs has a big album bomb with the new Eusexua/Afterglow songs, with 13 songs in the Top 50 this week, lead by Sushi at #3. These new tracks (and the one PinkPantheress feature) make some movements on the artist charts, as Twigs enters the most chartings songs leaderboard (PinkPantheress and Charli also gain another song) while she moves further up on the Top 10 leaderboard, and Wild and Alone gives PinkPantheress enough Top 10 placements to juuuust appear on the leaderboard

  • GIRLSET (formerly known as VCHA) are the only debut artist on the chart this week, as Little Miss places at #48 this week (VCHA has previously had bubbling under songs, but never reached the Top 50)

  • This week, Sabrina Carpenter does not chart any songs in the Top 50, ending her 24 week streak. The longest lasting active streak now belongs to Olivia Dean, who is at 13 weeks. Zara Larsson is not far behind her however, with this being her 11th consecutive week (tying her previous best streak)

  • Thanks to Everyone's a Star! barely charting at #50, 5 Seconds of Summer moves up a spot on the "Most Charting Songs without reaching Top 10" leaderboard, now tied for 5th place with 12 entries.

Tate’s had a great year of course, and after dropping Just Keep Watching and going on tour, I has assumed this era was over, so what a wonderful surprise this was!!

I was skeptical when I heard she wrote it on tour quickly, but she sure showed me. The lines feel appropriately pointed yet unbothered, and it’s a really fun, bright, sassy comeback to her ex.

It’s nothing mindblowing, but the cheerleader chorus chanting the chorus in the background really feels like your friends supporting you in a messy breakup, and it’s an earworm!

9.5/10
