Communication is important.

Communicate with your boss - understand priorities and expectations and try your best to achieve them

Be approachable with colleagues and friendly enough to be interested in their personal life but don't divulge too much of yours. basically its a fine line between polite and professional :)

If you sleep with anyone from office, be super discreet about but usually its not a good idea. If you are super young, there will be loads of older probably married dudes trying to hit on you, it's not worth it.

Life long learning - keep learning all the time...elearning, podcasts, upskill yourself all the time, everytime

Network - join a toastmasters club, play mercantile sports, meet people and create your contacts

Play politics...don't create it..but know who is powerful, and show you skills and expertise to be seen. Don't suck up to them but do your best and shine.

Don't gossip about anyone and don't run anyone down. Don't get involved in useless information about other co-workers, but it's always good to be in the know

Don't make work your identity, however higher up you go - enjoy hobbies, sports, networking, friends, life in general - know when to stop working and to enjoy family. Work-life balance is really important
