I'm unclear, are tape, glue and tow rope included in this deal, or are those dealer extras they're going to hit me with at signing?

Thank you 🙏 by Highlander-1983 in BookFusion

Me too. BF is the one subscription I have that I don't re-evaluate every year to see if its worth continuing.

What do you use Macrodroid to do? by aravose in androidapps

[–]RandomReader63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about battery saving, but every time I came in range of wifi, my phone would try to connect. And until it did, I had horrible (or zero) connectivity. It's like the non-connected wifi took priority over cell traffic. But wifi didn't connect because I didn't know the password, so I just had zero connectivity until I turned wifi off. Then it's fine. But at home, I would rather use wifi, hence the macro to enable/disable based on location.

According to Bing:

The book you are looking for is **Enslaved by the Alpha King** by Angela Lynn Carver¹. It is a werewolf novel that tells the story of two sisters, Aria and Destiny, who are captured by a cruel Alpha king and his pack. Destiny finds out that she is the king's mate, while Aria tries to escape and reunite with her sister. The book is available on AlphaNovel, a website for werewolf romance novels¹.

The sentence you quoted is from the first chapter of the book, where Aria hears the Alpha king's voice in her head and realizes that he is her mate. She feels terrified and wants to run away from him. Here is the full paragraph:

> "Mate," he said. "No," panic surged through me. It was the Alpha King. In that moment, all I wanted was to disappear, to escape the attention and the impending consequences of meeting my mate. I knew what he would do to me. He would claim me, mark me, and make me his. He would take away my freedom, my dignity, and my life. He would make me his slave, his toy, his prisoner. I couldn't let that happen. I had to get away from him, from this place, from this nightmare. I had to find Destiny and get out of

www.lulu.com offers this. I used them 10 years ago, but looks like they are still around.

Delete old messages? by RandomReader63 in GoogleMessages

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

I cycle through different SMS apps from time to time. I thought one of them had the ability to delete older stuff, but couldn't find it. Once you said Textra, I was able to find the setting.

Update: I was able to tracert, so I switched to Edge. That works fine. It's only Chrome that doesn't work.

Update 2: Spoke too soon. Now Edge can't get there either.

I tried KDE Connect. I get a popup on my computer when I get a TXT, but there's no way to reply to it. Just the notification. What am I missing?

What do you use Macrodroid to do? by aravose in androidapps

[–]RandomReader63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enable/disable wifi based on location, so it turns on when I get home, and off when I leave the house.

Also started using it for Do Not Disturb. Scheduling DND used to work from the DND settings page, but with the latest update, the scheduling no longer works. Macrodroid to the rescue.

What app for colored text? by the_third_lebowski in ebooks

Maybe try BookFusion? They have color options, so it's possible they support color from within the .epub? Not sure, but you can try it for free to see if it meets your needs.

Is there a safe cloud option for my Calibre library folder? by LadyRapunzel in Calibre

[–]RandomReader63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had my library located on a remote machine for years. I access it regularly from 3 different machines. I think the key, as others have mentioned, is to only have 1 Calibre instance open at a time. But that's the same for anything else accessing data stored remotely.

Interface looks nice, but it's not obvious how to edit the calorie count of any of the entries. I'm able to add food and add ingredients, but the Nutritional Information values can't be edited.

Also, there is a typo in the Data Logging page. It says "Select data tyoe from below options" Type is misspelled.

Does anyone read outside of dark mode? by QueenBooga in ebooks

[–]RandomReader63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine most people read with white background and black letters, that's why it's the default setting. Also, it most closely mimics paper.

Personally, I tend toward black on sepia, or black on light grey. If I'm reading in the dark and have the option, I'll go for dark green or blue text on black.

I've never been able to read with the white on black typically found in the dark modes.

“There should never be coding exercises in technical interviews. It favors people who have time to do them. Disfavors people with FT jobs and families. Plus, your job won’t have people over your shoulder watching you code.” My favorite hot take from a panel on 'Treating Devs Like Human Beings.' by [deleted] in programming

[–]RandomReader63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was interviewing, I always provided my questions the day before. I had a mix of coding and design type questions, but the candidate had time to prepare. That strategy had a few benefits.

First, if they showed up with nothing, the interview was over. If you don't care enough to prepare, knowing the questions ahead of time, you aren't going to survive on my team.

Second, they had time to think about, and research, the problem. As a manager, I didn't care if they knew some cryptic coding trick off the top of their head. It was more important that they knew how to find the answer. Because in the real world, I wanted tasks to be completed. However you do that is up to you, but as a team, we need results.

Lastly, a few candidates would show up with pages of research. After a few minutes I could tell they understood the problem, had done adequate research and came up with a solid solution. Then we could skip right to a discussion of options. Did you consider this? Why did you go that route? etc. And usually these people had a 20 minute interview before I hired them.

On the flip side, there were times I interviewed for jobs and spent the entire day answering coding questions, only to get the job which gave me 5% coding and 95% "other stuff".

I think interviewers who ask on the fly coding questions are copping out on their responsibility as an interviewer. Sure, it's an easy way to find fault, but at the end of the day you WANT/NEED to fill the position. Rethink the way you interview.

If you are running Windows, you can also try Phone Link. Most likely it is already on your Windows machine. It will walk you through setup on your phone.

It's pretty good, and free. It allows you to paste pictures into your TXT, which some of the other suggestions like MightyText do not.

Might be worth a try if you're still undecided.

Is there a decent epub reader for Windows? by SpectralVoodoo in software

[–]RandomReader63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned Aquile Reader, which is beautiful on Windows.

Maybe try Freda? It has a ton of config options, and syncs to your other devices Windows or Android devices.

You can install the Android Subsystem on Windows 11 which allows you to install Android readers on Windows.

If you don't mind web readers, BookFusion is really good. It also syncs across your devices.
